I traveled internationally for four years solid (as in: I didn't have a home in the U.S.!) and when I did occasionally buy souvenirs, I bought them based on a variety of factors, not always where the item actually came from. I bought them for …..(drumroll, please) the memory of the trip itself: what I was doing, the crew I was with, the memories I had along the journey. It sounds like you had an absolutely lovely trip - and great memories : ) Side note: In all my travels around the world, I've NEVER been to the Philippines...but I will be going in September. If you bothered haggling you would've been able to purchase those pearls for a lot cheaper as most aren't genuine. They love to take advantage of those who don't know any better and you're just handing it to them.
