Thank you for posting this. We are in the middle of trying to build a greenhouse from the greenhouse people. The instructions are rubbish. Thanks to your video we have more idea about what we should do. Great job.
Sounds great that you are building a greenhouse and that you got some ideas from the videos. Thank you very much for watching. Have an amazing weekend!
Thomas Mansour Thanks, I feel a little sorry for you that the next video in the series contains music 😀. Hopefully you won't find that to annoying. See you later.
My first youtube comment. Been waiting for a video like this. Seriously you and my father read the same book about overdoing everything. Been doing foundations for 5 years and you are above and beyond code for commercial work.. For a greenhouse. But seriously, I watched this to get ideas on building a greenhouse. And I intend to watch the rest of your videos. Keep up the amazing work! Get it
+Jimi Hardgrove Thanks man. I know I over did the foundation but it looks really nice and it wont move 😀. Cant wait to start using it, but first we have to get though winter.
Matescium Thanks, you got a playlist with all greenhouse episodes on the channel. You got the whole build and the first and second year of growing in it there. Do you got a greenhouse?
WOW!!! This is amazing...inspiring and SO well done! I really enjoyed watching this, thank you so much for sharing. I eagerly await the next installment. Wishing you many happy hours pottering in your greenhouse and abundant, healthy harvests. All the best!
Just Hunting Thanks man, I see you got a channel as well. Have to check it out. It seams like a channel for me. Do you have a greenhouse or are you planning to build one?
Terri Poulin Hi thanks for coming here. That sounds awesome to dig it down about 4 feet. If you got any questions regarding greenhouses don't hesitate to ask. Glad to have you here.
Hi Andreas.. Super good video. I live in Denmark and will install our greenhouse this week. How deep can we go down for the finished foundation? I am concerned about water coming in and the frost level. Thank you.
Hi there, thanks, that's a really good question. It really depends on the location. My greenhouse foundation is just about 40 cm bellow ground. They say that it's to little, but it have worked fine for me. I could have digged down at least one meter but that's because the ground is just sand and rocks at my place. So it really depends on both location and the condition of the ground. You can probably look up your frost free depth online. Have an awesome evening.
I'm very sorry. It's a lot of work for me right now with this pandemic. I have been filming but haven't been able to edit. Working about 14 hours each day even on Saturdays and Sundays. Have never had more to do in my life then now. There will come new videos. Have an amazing week man!
Crystal Murphy Thanks Chrystal, it means a lot to me. If you are interested in greenhouses you will be happy. Next video on Tuesday will be about the greenhouse and preparing it for the winter. I'm going out to shoot that video right now.
Tumme upp!
I would have put some horizontal XPS insulation under the footings and also vertically outside the foundation wall. It prevents a lot of heat being lost into the surrounding ground. The foundation wall would provide thermal mass inside the insulated perimeter.
That1ufo No cracks or movement. This is the second winter it stands there. Could it have to do with that the whole construction is standing on sand and is surrounded by sand? It's very dry around and under the greenhouse.
I have one question about living off grid that not much people cover about, how do you solve the problem of human waste if you are not connected to the sewer? Do you have any experience with incinerating toilet?
+wckoek We don't got a incinirating toilet and no experience with that. We got a normal toilet that flushes. The solution for us is a stand alone 3 chamber septic system. Our black and grey water goes there. Most of the waste will be taken care of bacteria and microbes on the way. The first chamber have to be cleaned about once a year. Our county provide us with that service. But in a SHTF situation we can do it our self.
Offgrid.se it certainly helps in a colder climate in your country, but I couldn't imagine the smell in tropical country, and I haven't heard of cleaning service provided either.
+wckoek Yea, it wouldn't work in a tropical environment. Though when I open the first chamber, the one that you clean out, there is almost no smell at all.
Ron Ritchie Hi Ron, in Sweden they are called LecaBlocks or murblock. If you search on google for masonry unit you will find all different kinds of them. Hope that helps?
Rebar in a greenhouse wall, and a foundation? OK.... :) I built the same thing with single brick on bare earth, it didn't move, this is good experience for a house build though. More people should bury their greenhouses, or at least use a solid wall, helps keep the temperature stable.
Sonny Tanner Well, in this video Im not using any music. In the other episodes its just some of the free music from RU-vid. In my later videos Im using music from digitaljuice.
yes in this video you are not but In the following video #2 and 3 i found out the song name but I was wondering where you got the version of the song , because it was the best one ive heard.please let me know , thank you
CC's World AUSTRALIA It's a laser level receiver. I set a laser line with a laser transmitter and then I can accurately measure so every thing is level by hitting that invisible laser beam.
That is great , thank you, at some stage we want to build a small chicken house and perhaps on a concrete slab, trying to learn as much as possible. Many thanks, take care
CC's World AUSTRALIA That sounds great. It's always nice to build things yourself. It's really rewarding. I will be doing a winter preparation video about the greenhouse this weekend. It will be up next Friday. Take care and see you soon again.
+pauline reid Im not a full timer. The goal is to evetualy become one. Ed took a big step and went off grid right away. We are taking small steps towards that.
