Got my Metromonger since a few weeks and im so happy with it! I have to commute 2 Days a Weeks. The Bag has space for my MS Surface Pro 7 (tight, but it fits!), Logi MX Master, Bose Soundlink, a Jabra Headset and it has still enough space for all my edc gear! I love the new design with the orange Interieur 😎👍
Thank you for this! I know that I can trust you for all things Greenroom136. I was using Chrome Industries' Citizen messenger bag for college. I loved almost everything about that bag, but it was lacking padding for my back and internal organization. I came across your junkmonkey video last October and immediately fell in love with the bag. I ordered my wildcard junkmonkey back in February and received it in March. It's my favorite bag. Unfortunately after a week of use, the quarantine happened, so I haven't been able to use my junkmonkey as much. It just holds my school stuff. I needed a smaller EDC bag for when I go out on my bike to go to the store/bank/etc. Because of your previous individual videos on the metro series bags, I decided on the metromonger and it should be on my way soon (I am in California). Harrison Shin thanks so much for continuing to watch! A totally agree about the Chrome bags. I have a Metro, that I still absolutely love! But the internal organization always left me lacking. It wasn’t until I got a Bogear syndrome that I really found out that the lack of back padding was also a big downfall of the chrome metro. And after a shoulder injury, I had to stop using the BOgear bag for a while. Just couldn’t deal with single strap bags on my left shoulder. It became too painful. Then I got the opportunity to do a junkmonkey review and man I fell in love with messenger bags all over again. It’s such a great bag, but I still have some pain in my shoulder if I use it for too long. So I have to swap out between backpacks every once in a while. So the metro series is really great for me, because I can carry just about everything I need, without overloading the bag, due to the smaller capacity.
you know, i'm actually in the exact same boat as you were, currently. i've had my chrome citizen back for about five years now. i love it, it's served its purpose. But i want a little more, and am looking at the junkmonkey currently.
Breadbowl one thing I LOVE about both the Chrome Metro ( and I think the Citizen is the same) and the Junkmonkey are the pockets between the inner liner and the shell. They are perfect for a water bottle. Once I switched from Chrome to BOgear, I really missed those pockets. I used the right one for my drink (I always recommend using the pocket toward the ground. That way if your bottle leaks, it will not leak into the bag. So left pocket of you wear the bag over your right shoulder). And the other pocket was my bike lock. Though I don’t comment the by bike anymore, then still use and love the liner pockets on the Junkmonkey. And there is one across the front on the GR bag, where Chrome does not have one there.
Breadbowl I highly recommend the junkmonkey, if youre a fan of Chrome Citizen. To me the junkmonkey has the DNA of Chrome Citizen, but with improvements (better organization, back padding, more customization options).
I cut the zipper pulls on some of my GR136 bags and use paracord and dual wall heat shrink tubing. Like GORUCK uses. I don't do this until after my reviews though, as I use the bags as they are made. I do not do "destructive" mods while testing for review. I like the heat shrink tubing and paracord because it allows me to use just about any color I want to accent the bag. I do appreciate the tip though. I always like suggestions about new products to try out.
Digging the metromonger. Do you think the laptop/tablet compartment at the back could pass as a somewhat hidden pocket for stuff like a passport for when travel happens again? Like a roaming bag
The pocket had a large zipper on it. It will not be a hidden pocket. But it will be the most secure pocket on the bag, as it is closet to the body and be very hard to access while wearing the bag.
I have their attache and metromonger as slings, I have their sidekeep too. Now i need a bit more volume for my waistbag. Any idea if the metrorunner works well in waist bag mode?
I haven't used the Metrorunner as a waist bag yet. I've only used the Metrodrifter, which worked well for me. If I remember when I get home from work tonight I will give my MR a test run. I took a larger bag to work today, so I don't have it with me right now.
