I love how you keep on making these videos despite not having many views or subscribers. I love your music you play. I wish you were more popular because you definitely deserve that.
@@danbluedeer I've known greensleeves for a while now, I just found your channel and an interest in lutes , harps and other instruments I'm ignorant of, thank you, It's most definitely beauty : )
Im a “old master technique” painter and when i Listen to this, i feel like im There with Rembrandt and Many of this gigants from that time, and this peace makes me gonna Groove at paintig, i can feel that time…thank you for this mr. ! ❤
Good Morning Daniel, I very much enjoyed this duet. A lovely treatment of a tune that can become a bit "passe" if care is not taken. I like the little historical background notes on the origin of the tune as well. The King Henry story is one that is always rolled out whenever this is played and has taken on a life of it's own now. I guess we will never know who wrote this but I don't think Henry VIII did. You seem to be enjoying being the custodian of the Archlute. This piece shows it of well so thanks for posting it. Anne and I are slowly improving and today is our "official" release date from isolation but we do not really have the energy to do much. It certainly knocks one back a bit. So a quick note to all of Dan's dedicated viewers, Folks please take care not to get this bug. It really is unpleasant All of you you Keep safe and Dan, will you please keep playing and keeping us entertained. Clive
Greensleeves has been one of my favourite melodies since hearing Vaughn Williams' Fantasia as a toddler (my mother used to tell how I insisted she put the record on or I wouldn't go to sleep) fifty-odd years ago. I especially liked this rendition showing off the range and sonority of the archlute. And of course, your playing was sublime too!
My girlfriend came back to town after moving away to visit, for the prom. But in the days before hand, I came across this video, and was completely moved by it. So I learned how to play Greensleves on my guitar (completely huge genre change to what I normally play) and played it for her. Added some of my own personal lyrics to it too. She loved it. So all I must say, is thank you, sir. And keep it up!!
Bravo. I like it that you preserved the "original" tune and variations---while making your own arrangements for two lutes. Thank you for your artistry and hardwork. All the best.
Hi there, I discovered ur music around 2.5 years ago when I was pregnant with my baby. I had never heard greensleeves before. I absolutely fell in love with it and heard this version on repeat so many many times. Now that baby is about to turn 2 on 3/14. She absolutely loves this version too. She says "mama play greensleeves" and twirls to it :). Wants to hear it on repeat too. thank you for playing beautiful music. Love lots of ur other videos. Have a great day
Absolutely amazing and beautiful I just barely found your channel and you are Inspiring me so much...your covers help me over and over again when I'm having anxiety and panic attacks they calm me down so much ❤️ ❤️ absolutely beautiful
Greensleeves has always been one of my favorites since my very young childhood. With these extremely emotional times this has been a slave on raw nerves.
I love this!!! I used to play this variations on my flute, many, many, many years ago. What a totally beautiful performance! Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Used to accompany a flutist on these variations on guitar. Your arrangement is very inspiring, so fascinating how the parts are woven with each other with these so similar sounding instruments. Like your tempo, your obvious joy of playing, and the sonorous archlute's basses.
I really try to let my worries be handled by God during the night shift. A prayer followed by you're music tonight, how could I not sleep well. Thank you.
I am so very happy that these instruments have withstood the test of time and that there are people like you who have mastered their intricacies, I must thank you for the chance to hear these beautiful strings work their magic. Your fingers speak to my soul its very self. Truly astounding! I wish a good day and an even grander morrow to you!
I would love to dedicate time to learning how to play instruments. I wish I paid attention in school now. I'm 19 so there is time but I doubt I'd ever get this good anyway Edit:Earned a new subscriber .
RU-vid! I'm not doing concerts anymore....I might do an occasional funeral or wedding, but you probably don't want to crash the party for one solo piece
Truly beautiful masterpiece! Perfectly fits the original style of Greensleeves. Have you thought of creating your own piece for lute in a renaissance style?
So absolutely lovely! What a way to start the day!! May I ask if those two are the same instrument who somehow switches/adds to its handle, or if they're two completely different ones? 😊
Good Morning Mr. Estrem, There are a couple of your lute pieces I have published on here, that I was curious if you had sheet music or tabs for, and if so, is there a way to find or purchase them? Sorry if this is a commonly asked question, and I have missed the FAQ somewhere.
The instrument doesn't leave the studio... I'm not an expert on theorbos, so you may want to consult the ultimate authority - wikipedia :) the archlute and theorbo have different tunings
I'm not entirely sure you even accept requests; however, I'm interest in hearing True Faith by New Order performed by your hands. I've always been an aficionado of the dark ages so for unknown reasons never cared to listen to its secular music. Obviously, this video has changed that.
