Nice video. Every time I do this job I remember why I hate worcesters. If an installer tells me they only fit Worcester then the first thing I think is, you don’t do much repair work then. Utter shambles of a design. Pretty much every component change is easier on practically every other modern major brand. When the new 8000 just came out I thought finally they might have listened to the people who actually have to work on their crap, but now I hear they weigh an absolute ton. When will Worcester ever learn? Just copy ideal/vailaint or even a budget main. How hard can it be? Worcester are poxy and about as in engineer friendly as you’ll get.

Couldn’t put it better, absolute shambles of a design to work on. Why can every other manufacture make it easy, and the ‘leading’ brand makes them so hard. Fuck you Worcester!

I stopped repairing Worcester's as most are boxed in or fitted into kitchen units making them almost impossible to work on given the tiny amount of room you have to get your hands in , the only way is to pull off the wall repair and re fit and most customers won't pay for that so let them get someone to do the repair that would take less than an hour on any other boiler , but 3 hrs plus on a boxed in Worcester.......good luck....👍

Don’t know why people complain about changing hydro blocks on green stars. It’s an easy job and it pays the bills. There’s a lot worse jobs out there

It might be easy but it’s such an unnecessary waste of time. It’s not exactly a hard job to change the expansion vessel either, but it’s frustrating when you know on so many other boilers it’s a simple slide out and change. Then you get a crappy Worcester without the ceiling clearance and it’s a boiler off the wall job. It’s just so unnecessary, plus I do work for loads of elderly people who have limited budgets and I feel sorry for them getting bigger bills than they need to simply cos someone lumbered them with a Worcester.

Wayne Griffin the vessel is only 90mins tops with boiler off the wall. I don’t install boilers. I only repair. Parts aren’t expensive as alot of other brands like vaillant/glow worm, Veissmen.... really don’t know why people complain about working on them

snigie I think you answered your own question. 90mins labour to change an expansion vessel if it goes well, more like a couple of hours in the real world, even worse if it’s in a loft and horizontally flued. Compared to about 10mins on a logic. Money’s tight for a lot of customers and there’s a big difference in cost between the two. Anyone else and the vessels changed in the time it takes to have a brew. Worcester two hours. Granted their parts aren’t quiet as expensive as some others. I’ve been in this game a long time and I’ve never met a service engineer who’d choose to work on them given the choice of anything else. Even the one guy I know that still fits them won’t repair them. And don’t get me started on the stupid case designs or razor sharp edges.

Wayne Griffin You can pick any boiler and find a pain in the arse job. But Worcester get all the attention. I would work on Worcester all day over any vaillant group, baxi or Veismann. It might not sound like it but I have no attachment to them. Easy to diagnose and work on.

Worcester and their burner gaskets.heat exchanger get easily blocked. Shit location of PRV. Gas valve gets blocked with dirt. The greenstar series has a shit casing. Like the Ideal eyesoar HE and M series It's easy tp work on but the boilers are still shit. Working in social housing in think Baxi Potterton are more superior boilers.
