Ugadi Subhakankshalu. Puvvada Arts is releasing Temple Tunes on the auspicious occasion of Plava Naama Samvatsara - Telugu new year. The focus in this new year is Wisdom and Knowledge. This is a precious gift to Telugus. In the Movva village two greats were born. One is Kshetrayya and the other is Puvvada Sri Ramadasu.
Kshetrayya has written thousands of Padams. Only very few have survived. Similarly Puvvada Sri Ramadasu has written hundreds of Keerthanas. And unfortunately only a handful are available. It is unfortunate that so many beautiful padams and Keerthanas are lost. However it is heart warming to See Sri Puvvada Thikkana Somayaji garu and his family have decided to revive the Muvva Venugopalaswamy Keerthanas.
AIR Vijayawada has also popularized these Keerthanas. It is wonderful to see the Dance videos under the able direction and Choreography of Vid. Geeta Sirish coming out on Ugadi. Vid. Srivatsa has given mellifluous tunes. Vittal Puvvada, Venu Puvvada, Sreedevi and their families are making these Keerthanas come alive.
Making the 150 years old Keerthanas acquire beautiful tunes and dazzling dance is a dream come true for any connoisseur of the Fine Arts. That Muvva is very close to the famous village of Kuchipudi is evident from the fact that these Keerthanas are excellent to adapt to Dance.
