I have a new Headcanon/theory on Ben's discomfort with his Alien forms. Remember the description of how an Alien goes Ultimate: "The Evolutionary Function worked by placing the selected species in a simulation, right down to the DNA, for an extended period of time, about a million years or so, in what is described as a "worst-case scenario"; the actual DNA is then simply modified to match the new DNA. This survival of the fittest routine explains why the evolutions are more combat-centered than their normal forms." If the DNA is put through a million years of basically hell on *insert alien's home planet here*, then wouldn't a shit load of predator and/or prey instincts grow as well. Imagine all the stress of being in a warzone baked into the DNA, like inherited PTSD. The instincts of the alien literally become fight or flight ONLY. IDK if I am making sense.
@@HiperPivociarz I always thought that it wasn’t exactly a “fear” per-say. I thought that he didn’t want to use them at first because he didn’t feel ready early in the season.
that could be a plausible explanation for it yeah; unfortunately, we don't see too much of the alien's own instincts and behaviors in most of Ben's aliens, especially the ultimates, like he doesn't act any different in them than his usual self
@@laszlokaszas1003 This isn't Diamond tho But yes, just being made of a hard material isn't gonna make you inmune to damage. Specially when said material is a *Crystal* and it also follows real-life Crystal logic (so no "it's indestructible no matter what" fiction logic) Crystals are a doble edge sword. On one side, yes, they are extremely hard and durable, so it makes sense to think they are great for defense. On the other, *if* you can hit it with enough energy to pass it's resistance limits, the whole damn thing is compromised and will probably shatter entirely because they can't bend like metalic materials. Plus the hardness is only 100% effective when hit from some angles, other specific angles make it much easier to destroy it without much effort. So ironically, the best defensive material would be NRG's armor (so far the hardest material shown, since it can *only* be broken with Tydenite)
@@MelvinStFleur Probaly yes Tydenite has been show to be broken easily under certain conditions, like with Vulkanus army mining Kevin in AF There's something called "harmonic frequency" (iirc), basically emitting a sound with the same wavelength as the natural vibrating frequency of something. If Echo Echo can match thr specific frequency of Tydenite, and then output enought power at said frequency, the Tydenite would destroy it self. PS: If not, then Ult Echo Echo should be more than capable to do it. Which is one of the reasons why I don't see Ult Kevin's defeat as nonsense, unlike many people. Harmonic frequency applies to everything, even flesh and bones. It can liquify organs and kill people. So in theory it should also be able to destroy Ult Kevin too.
I always loved the bit where Pandor was about to kill Gwen before Big Chill saves her and she gives an expression of sheer terror when she realized just what a bad guy he really is after she spent the episode defending him.
Man, the fight between P'andor and Water Hazard really highlights how under utilized Water Hazard feels, since he was able to fight mostly evenly with P'andor even if he didn't win. I genuinely wish the Andromeda Aliens got more love.
It's such a shame they never utilize him beyond ''alien that launches water'', since he's quite literally the extreme opposite of Swampfire, full control of water in all of its states and enough durability to survive a Humungousaur beatdown
@@HotDogTimeMachine385 Overflow had some dope ass scenes from what I remember. I also remember him being Ben's main flying alien in the reboot for a while too, even though he has stinkfly? Not sure if that's right since it's been a while
Omniverse has a ton of scenes with them. You'll see a lot of Armadrillo in season 1, with a scene or two with Waterhazard. Think there should be an NRG fight as well. Amphibian and Terraspin get some love later on.
This one was definitely a good twist with the rest of the andromeda cast. I think there was a good lesson in here with the idea that victims of a certain event can still be dangerous and legitimately jerks still. This episode might’ve been the first to properly introduce me to the idea of radioactive stuff as a kid, which Is a unique thing to have nrg be amongst most of bens aliens.
I always thought NRG's concept as an alien trapped in an armor was great. I'll give Omniverse that, it's nice that they remembered to include his ability to go out so we can see him in a form similar to P'andor. And yes, Ben using Water Hazard to pass himself for Bivalvan was great^^ it's always nice to see the few times where he uses his shapeshifting for infiltration purpose.
It’s not *that* glitchy, hell it even has a radiation sensor. If anything it’s the OG Watch that didn’t give ripjaws a rebreather, and even the upgraded one that left Rath nude!
according to the writers, the omnitrix/ultimatrix gives their aliens some safety gears. examples of these are: NRG's armor, Xlr8's visor, Toepick's cage, Goop's antigravity projector, and Ghostfreak's skin.
Kevin: *(absorbs Taydenite, the hardest mineral in the Ben 10 universe, only to get knocked out)* Chromastone: *(looks at Diamondhead)* Look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power!
This is probably a great example of an episode that's not super important to the continuity, but still really great to re-watch. P'andor being an alien that for once doesn't cooperate or act like a monster but just a selfish being that happens to be harmful to those around it was really interesting and unique, especially before Omniverse. Loved the Water Hazard fight, it honestly really shows the aliens potential for interesting fights, it's really unfortunate we barely get to see it. The fights with Ultimate Humongousaur and in the reactor were really cool too and I loved Gwen and Kevin's interactions here, just like Kuro pointed them out. Just a really solid episode from front to back that honestly shows perfectly why I love Ultimate Alien so much, despite it not being all that spectacular or important
I love how a group of earth-based criminals walk up to this furnace with arms, legs, and a Russian accent sitting in a makeshift chair/throne, and the only question any of them have is 'where's the safe?' I know that by this point, they've probably been normalized to this sort of stuff, but it's still kinda funny.
You guys are all criticizing the Kevin getting knocked out scene but in my opinion it could make sense. Diamond is the hardest thing we’ve known but it shatters very easily. If you throw a diamond bottle and a regular plastic bottle at a wall diamond bottle easily shatters. We use diamond to cut through really extreme dense stuff. I think with Taydenite is the similar situation.
I really wanted to hear your thoughts about Cannonbolt rotating the dial to go ultimate but the 4 spikes on the Ultimatrix is in the wrong position. But on the next few frames, it returnt in its original position. Do you mind sharing your thought about it? Thanks.
That Russian accent on P’Andor, plus NRG really works. Ultimate Cannonbolt, though, appearance-wise, was basically just a metallic reskin with alarm bells. Could have had a lot more to him like a tail and a big underbite, unless the Arburian Pelarota species is perfect as it is.
This episode adds to my theory that all the UAF aliens are just clones of the original dna downer since P’andor thought Water Hazard was Bival and not another of Bival race.
I think they could have animated it to look more obvious or added a different sound effect, but when Kevin gets knocked out at the beginning, the hammer guy is holding his tatonite sample. I always took it that he smashed that into his head, not his fist. And that piece is probably more dense than Kevin's armor which is shown to just be a thin layer over his skin and clothes. A different angle on that punch or a sound effect more similar to Diamondhead might have helped that out
2:02 how is the hell is a standard buzzsaw cutting through an energy/mana shield. Also does anyone else think gwen was to trusting in this episode towards pandor, he is clearly a threat and she is still trying to help him.
Kevin may have gotten bodied but at least he wasn’t put on the back foot by a normal buzz saw like how Gwen’s shield was cut through by that random schmuck. Also calling him Greg is still hilarious.
Didn’t know Pandor’s episode was this early. Hoped this episode would get a proper breakdown but I understand that some episodes are gonna be done in the shorter format even if they’re ones I really enjoyed. This one in particular was my favorite of the Andromeda 5 introductory episodes given how it was different from the others
I would have loved to see your live reaction to the moment where Ben pulls out the watch to the camera... Gives vibes of "Dont worry guys... The hero is back in action" Always loved that moment since I watched it first time as a kid
Whenever he's out of the suit, NRG should be one of, if not the fastest alien Ben has. Gamma radiation is basically just high-energy light (they're both on the EM spectrum) and it moves at light speed, so if NRG is made up of pure radiation he should also be able to move at light speed. Alpha and beta radiation aren't as fast, but they're also not energy, they're matter, so I don't think he is made from either of those
It's a shame the whole concept of the NRG suit being a prison for P'andor is undone in Omniverse, where Ben can just casually exit the suit with relative ease.
Its not really a prison for NRG the same way,its just to protect everything else from the radiation he naturally produces. Letting Ben use its full abilities when he can is a good change. I feel like NRG out of the suit should be way more of a big deal though.
This suit was prison for P'andor But for NRG it's more like a thing to protect others from NRG's radiation Omnitrix created this suit for NRG, so why it would not be able to open it?
Honestly I gotta disagree with you there. It makes sense that the Omnitrix would create a version of the suit ben could remove at his leisure. It makes him more combatively versatile as well given he can switch between using the prison suit as armor and free roaming without it.
When asked about why P'andor is in the suit, Dwayne McDuffie said this: "His own people imprisoned him in it, because he's a criminal." P'andor is a dangerous criminal whose own species locked him in that suit. That's also why he had no interest in going back to his home planet. Ben isn't a criminal, so it makes sense that his suit would be easier to open. And it was also explained that the clothes NRG wears in his true form in Omniverse are a lower level containment suit that contains his radiation for a short time.
The "nothing's harder than Tadenyte" thing actually makes sense to me. Just because your skin is made of Tadenyte, doesn't mean your brain is, so it makes sense that he could still get knocked out.
I love how when this aired, the Generator Rex episode that came after it was Frostbite, the episode where Rex and co have to go to the Arctic to offload Rex's nanites when he has too many and overloads. It's like going from an episode that has something hot to an episode with something cold.
One of my favorite UA episodes. Sad to see it as a mini but I completely understand why. Still, I love this episode for so many reasons that it's always an exciting watch
One thing is.. I feel like gwen was being somewhat unreasonable? He wanted to break out of his suit which kevin knew was radioactive inside. So I feel like gwen should have been more understanding
This Episode is why NRG & WaterHazard are MY Fave Andromeda5 Alien Forms for The Omnitrix/Ultimatrix Love The Nuclear YET Fire Aesthetic Alien Vs. Water Alien Fight :)
I'd love to see something akin to these quick rewiews for the main ben 10 games, with Kuro giving a quick commentary about what he thought of the gameplay, story, bosses, alien variety and overall how much he enjoyed the game.
Kuro : Making a full review for "Video Game" which has no importance. Also Kuro : Giving a small breakdown for " Too Hot to Handle" which is directly connected to main arc. Loved it anyway ♥️♥️♥️🔥🔥
I liked NRG better on Ultimate Alien than Omniverse because NRG in his suit just felt like a strong tank that can still use hands to melt and shoots radiation beams from his mask, like he's holding back his true power and is still very strong, however on Omniverse he's pure radiation just flying around and meh I think Ben would want to keep the radiation contained to protect everyone so suit NRG would be better used.
Considering that there are more powerful and experienced Anodites in the universe as well as Tokustars like WayBig and god knows what else, it’s safe to say Dagon doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
But Dagon is pretty much the most powerful being at least in the third dimension, @@Andrew-Bastin. He would have a good idea on what he’s talking about.
@@jasonnguyen2575 well he was out of the loop for over a thousand years, not to mention he has a habit of underestimating his opponents. Also with him being a magical entity he probably has his biases.
When Kevin gets knocked out he gets knocked out with Tatinite, which if you slow the frames down you can see the muscular man hit Kevin with which means Tatinite can break or at least damage itself
Ben’s Andromeda five were considered complete clones by the crew. I know you weren’t being serious but in-universe the only difference is eye color and an Omnitrix symbol
I mean in Fairness. He got the dna FROM bivalvin, so it’s likely that since it’s the only Orishan scanned by the omnitrix he’d look and sound an awful lot alike him.
I really dont wanna do this cause i might come off as a know it all But the ultimatrix actually copies the dna donor So it makes sense that pandor thought it was him
Sweet! More breakdown from Kuro the Artist. What a great day to be Ben 10 fan. Not only Kuro upload a new breakdown today, but also (hopefully) be a commentator for my speedrunner friend who will run Cosmic Destruction for a marathon this weekend. Wish me luck, and hopefully there won't be any intervention.
