Musician Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers speaks to the "CBS This Morning" co-hosts about telling the story of his life and career in his new memoir, "My Cross to Bear."
Gayle king should keep her mouth shut. If it wasn't for oprah she wouldn't even be on tv. Gregg was a talented beautiful man and I hate to know he's gone. RIP Gregg
Seriously Gail? Is your mother ok with that? You just want to make sure he’s ok? Nice way to treat a guest like he’s five. Gregg has seen plenty in his lifetime to draw wisdom from. You don’t even deserve to be Interviewing this gentleman.
Well said! I'm seeing this again and her comments and attitude seem insensitive and judgemental! Poor choice for a co-anchor for sure. And quite frankly her comments are plain stupid.
Absolutely..She was rude and condescending and it was painful to watch her interject her comments. Gregg Allman was the consummate musician and gentleman.
When a man comes to the point where he realizes the mistakes he’s made, and comes to terms to correct them, he truly has arrived to a wonderful place in his life. He showed me, even by their questions, he was at peace with himself, and Jehovah God, and not concerned with the opinions of others. ✨What an indelible, priceless place to be.✨
It started as a good interview until CR began asking insulting questions and GK had to open that hole in her face. I don’t know much about professional journalism, but I would think the first thing you should know is polite etiquette and what crosses the boundaries of good taste. Undeniable props to Gregg for chuckling and keeping his composure.
did they do any research on Gregg before the interview? He was a true Southern gentleman being classy, can't say the same for the idiot interviewers.....He will be remembered LONG after their nondescript selves are gone
I have always gotten the feeling from him since reading that autobiography and reading more about him that there is a lot of childhood pain that he either needed to address or had because he mentioned once that he had a therapist but he didn’t want to talk about it. He always insists that it’s the happy times that he remembers but he suggests otherwise in his book. He had a lot of death in his family. He’s quick to say that he doesn’t remember his father who died when he was two but when a child gets older they know that their father died a violent death. They also don’t have a mind that has developed perspective and often feel that the parent left because they were somehow unworthy. Then his brother died when they were both still quite young and had just hit it big. He’s hard to interview I find because he doesn’t want to talk about the pain and yet his book suggests that he did. Cher did say that getting words out of Gregg was like ….. “forget it”.
Gregg Allman had so much class. He was a kind heart and beautiful soul. Gayle King is a soul-less, heartless vessel, and wouldn't know the truth if it came up and bit her on the butt! "Does your mother approve?" What kind of question is that for a grown man?
He's been asked some blunt, even critical, questions, but always answered as a "gentleman", and truthful. I think Gayle tried to be a an "investigation" reporter, which this format shouldn't have been. RIP Gregg, you gave us a lot.
Gayle King should not be allowed to interview anybody else after what she put Greg Allman through. It makes me sick to my stomach that she was allowed to question him that way!
For all the images of the ultimate kick ass rocker, the ' big bad' guy in the movies, Gregg Allman is a quiet, soft spoken Southern gentleman. He handled Gayle King's inept and somewhat racist interview with humility. He has been through tragic times, bad times, great times and has risen above it all. He is an icon.
I love the scenes in the movie Rush. Whenever he entered the bar or passed by, everybody else just stopped doing whatever they were doing. They say his brother Duane could do that to a room of people naturally.
I don't think Gayle meant any harm by asking him about getting married again, but I wish she hadn't mentioned that. I think it's kind of a sensitive topic for him. I feel very protective of him and don't want anyone to hurt his feelings or make him feel uncomfortable. I LOVED that man and miss him a lot.
Can't give this this a thumbs up or a save due to G. King's questions she ask Greg. Love his music & especially enjoying Southern Blood. Cple songs just bring me to tears as so hauntingly beautiful. RIP Greg Allman
For me it’s Melissa and Midnight Rider! God, I really miss this man😥. Soft spoken man who could just really deliver a tune. I saw him in 1980…. Great voice , great piano 🎹 playing, great concert 🎵
Gregg Allman a true gentleman of the times and his absolute love of music, I've just read his book its an absolute brutually honest account of a very rich man and his beautiful journey in Music Love Life in a trule light that he was .... I'm going to Macon Georgia to visit ABB "The Big House" on the bucket list thank you Gregg Allman xxx
Gayle King " For me it's the women. Do you really want to get married again ? Does your Mother approve' ? What the hell kind of question is this to ask someone like Greg Allman ? For all the questions she could have asked about his life, his impact on music and she asks a stupid assed question like this ? He should have told her it was none of her damned business, but he's too much of a gentleman.
Such ignorance!!! Ramblin Man was written by Dickey Betts, for whom Gregory Allman had a strong dislike. One couldn't possibly have read Cross to Bear in one evening. Gregory L. Allman was the heart and soul of the Allman brothers. He wrote, he sang and he played.
This has to be the worst interview in the history of interviews. Charlie Rose used to be excellent, don't know what happened to him. And she's just a dunderhead
Gayle's dumb questions made him uncomfortable. He was no angel but a fine musician! He also leaves five kids n several have musical talents also so his legacy lives on!!
I was 13 or 14 when I first heard Greg Allman sing with the Allman Brothers, He HAS,not"had" One of the Most spirited, soulful voices Of anyone Ive heard... Otis, Mahalia, Billie, Wilson, Solomon,Aretha ,Greg,Bonnie,BB,John Lee,Wolf.. all Of these folks Move me In ways mere words just dont seem to have the capacity to express. whether you agree with me Or not, I can Only speak for Myself.
Gayle King was absolutely horrible at asking questions. What a shame that Charlie Rose wasn't allowed to conduct the full interview by himself. King interrupted Gregg as he was opening up, asked if he was "all right" and "what does his mother think"? You can sense the disappointment in Gregg as he had to continue to deal with her.
We adore Gregg Allman, why did Charlie Bilderberg Rose and Nobody Gayle ask embarrassing, insulting questions?Charlie has no wife or children. Gayle has Oprah period. Gregg handled this perfect, a laugh at clowns.I will buy The Book!
Read it. Although I am of the age to have known of the Allman Brothers I only knew there hit Ramblin man. But for some reason I bought his autobiography but they are talking about, read it, and maybe I read it after he died or he died soon after. Since then I have been really interested in him. I always loved rhythm and blues I knew the name of the band but just didn’t follow them
I got this awful impression that since he had had the liver transplant during that interview and maybe it wasn’t hearing right but it seemed like they were both convinced he was going to die and they made comments that suggested that. Of course if I’m remembering right he lived a few years doing OK I believe and then I just read recently in an excellent article in Rolling Stone, by Mikal Gilmore The Greg’s liver cancer despite the transplant had recurred and he knew his time was limited. But I couldn’t believe that they seem to be suggesting with their questions that he would be leaving us soon and walk with his legacy be
Such a Amazing interview made me Sad to hear how their Dad died made me Happy to know about all the time it took Gregg to get Sober /Clean sometimes God keeps watching over us until He puts us on the right path and just broke my Heart that Gregg was ready to get married again and knowing it was the His first wife Being Sober and Clean will mess ya up and turn ya AROUND Rest in Peace Gregg Never Forgotten GodBlessLovePeaceToAllNations
Charley, Charley, Charlie, whatever... your great grandchildren will be listening to Gregg Allman's songs. They will not be re-running your interviews.
Who is Gail to ask those very personal questions of Gregg?! She's lucky Gregg has been sober & straight because he would have given her a earful back in the day ‼️
Would have been nice if he got to answer one question without getting interrupted. Excuse me, I think he did answer 3 of them. Geez man. I'm glad he got to marry a beautiful woman and I hope she was as beautiful on the inside as he was.
That was the most condescending interview. Gayle King and Charlie Rose made real assholes of themselves and GA, rip, was a complete gentleman. What a morbid, grotesque series of questions and comments from those two. Poor Gregg Allman. I am so glad Rose is Off the air. Rose should be, after this aired!
Que fenomeno como tecĺadista y cantante.casi nadie o pocos reconocen..se murio y nadie hizo un homenaje.nadie se acordo..que pena..su legado musical sera siempre recordado x aquellos q creemos q la musicA es universal.rip.
The true despair is not in a musician who created songs we loved to hear and at times related to, The True Despair is in the pseudo intelligent pompous interrogators of an artist. They are faulted because they can not affirm nor support their existence.
Nice to get a lecture from the woman (I don't know her name).....would your mom approve of your marriage? I can't believe they would show this interview......it was painful to watch.
The wives question was awkward for sure but a fact that is hard to close your eyes on when you want to judge the character of a man who just wrote a book about his life. Great talent, great charisma. He was gentle and soft spoken...definitely a legend but I wouldn't call a guy a Gentleman, he who has 7 wives (2 extra-marital kids with other women, 3 kids with 3 different wives), is an alcoholic, does cocaine, heroin, gets a 16 yo stranded girl into it (he was 40), who 2 years later turned to porn to pay for her addiction when he let her down and out (commits suicide some years later). Then at 64, marries a 24 yo girl, who is much younger then any of his kids (let that sink in). I just don't think ''gentleman'' is a word that should be used when referring to Gregg Allman. Of course being a rock legend gives you a free pass to doing all this and still be loved by all. Goes for countless others as well. At least he was honest about it. Enjoy the music!
Gayle is the KING of the hypocritical self-serving nonsense which deserves no audience. Here, is a gentle man, putting his heart out there, and telling people about his pain, in the hope of helping others. And, this snotty woman tries to rub his nose in "it". She is judgmental, condescending, rottenly above-it-all, and, has zero empathy for the experience she hasn't had.. . . yet.
All the reasons you dislike Gayle King are the exact reasons that Oprah loves her. Oprah and Gayle judge us ALL in snotty condescension. They are the queens of the world.
I think Gregg use to bum cigarettes off me in the men's room at the local movie theater when he was in military school. I was only 8 or 9 but we would sneak in to smoke.
Wow. That lady Interviewer...what a slimey person. The other interviewer you could tell liked the musician and his music. The musician seemed to not be rattled . Overall I enjoyed this interview. Don't know any of the people in it, but enjoyed it.
Dear Miss Black Lady on this RU-vid; it's not about how many wives Gregg had. It's about how many of his children he financially supported. It is a cultural anomaly.
Its appalling the lack of show prep & research the MSM didnt do to interview this great man. In this & the Kathy Lee & Regis Interviews its glaringly obvious these idiots didn't have a clue whose presence they were in. Duh which sock do you put on first, left or right?
Gayle King, Shut up Already !! Oprah bought you your way in and gave you money. Gregg has made his own money and can do as he wishes. I wanted Gregg to tell her off but he is too much of a Gentlemen for that. But the looks he gave Gayle said it all. R.I.P. Gregg, we love you.
Yikes, why did they focus on his health so? are these two doctors, they made it sound like GA was finished, that was the worst interview I have ever seen given to Greg in 40 years of following him closely, way to personal! He was actually very politie throughout.
Gregg Allman will leave behid him a Massive Legacy of music that inspired and hit the hearts of millions of people. You vicious pieces of crap who tried to bring him down, will leave nothing memorable behind you because you created nothing, produced nothing, and lived on negativity.
They sure did turn on old Charlie rose. I haven't watched that morning show since. Best interviewer in the world. He train all those wemon and they turned on him with the bullshit from 30 years ago.
Was so excited to find and able to listen to this interview ….but , man , Gail King just ruined it ! Why didn’t Charlie Rose keep things on track ? Why was GK there ??????
Now I realize why I have never bothered to watch Charlie Rose. P.S. who is the black lady (?) grilling a Good Ole Boy. Gregg is an Icon in Music..She doesn't even have a name. Who is she?
Shut up gayle ! Man why was he asked this stupid question all the time !! Focus on his music that belonged to us to enjoy. And his PRIVATE LIFE was ABSOLUTELY NONE of our business!!!!!!! geez !
It in truth know what is really . That man was used by powerful celebrities to pull tier agenda, I fell such sorrow to Gregg used in fame and he well knew he was, He got rich , but not at all rich,
I actully know Gregg Allman . And what all of you did to Him will send solid you mark to die to nothings to your worlds, God watched you swamp to this man,
I think Gayle King is a great interviewer. She's not saying anything wrong. She read his book and ask's questions. Gregg is handling that quite well. I read his book twice. Great read both times. I liked it. I found Gregg to be a straight shooter. He calls it like he sees it. Great read. I commented on his book once. Several years ago. He replied. Sent me an email. Wish I would have printed that. Stupid! stupid! stupid!. Loved his read.
