Vocals, piano, bass, drums, trumpet. No fancy light show, no pyrotechnics, NO DANCERS... no over-produced anything. Just musicians and talent. WHAT A CONCEPT.
OMG, I miss my Facebook account. I followed Mr. Porter the years of the Pandemic; in isolation - then came Gregory Porter to fill an emptiness with a gentile genius and musical rarity one can only find in the unexplored rincons of life!
Criminally underrated artist and shows how far we've fallen with music in recent years. If you look at some of the names that take all of the accolades and top spots in charts etc...and then look at the auto tune talentless music they put out, when compared with Gregory Porter... it's grossly unfair. Gregory Porter is living in the wrong time. He would have been a king of music 20/30/40 years ago. His voice is outstanding..and it's so effortless. He makes some of todays more popular artists look like frauds. Just doesn't seem to be about the music anymore. When an artist like this has an estimated net worth of $3 million dollars, and an artist like Drake has an estimated net worth of $250 million dollars...something's very wrong.
Very well Said. I would see this guy from time to time and never knew what he does until I saw a documentary he was in and I said let me look this guy up and ooooooh my goodness how as a singer myself how didn't I know about him sooner!!! His music is what you want to start a day off with a smile.
Amen to what others have added to the " New A Train " G. Porter ! The heavy musical lifting he brings into the train cars for all the old n young listeners to Christ Jesus' all star big band of Duke Ellington's sacred praise worshipping concerts beyond categories spiritually electro chemo magnetically subtle energies governing soulselves consciousness with eternal now ; " Stay on the ATrain Children "! With rev. 12:11 , blessesassurance Hallelujah x7!
Thank so very much for the depth of character commentary... in order to some how sum up where we have greatest need to apply our music cognition . I have Felt this low Low sound of what players are paid to make our social differences ,more difficult allto whats waiting on the shelf...to cross into full awareness unknown. .Minstrels and Troubadors ,I hope the waiting is Rewarded greatly for Music of where we can wrap around in star skys ...we wait...
Three year battle with cancer and this man carried me through it all. Before each procedure and after all the surgeries I woke to Mr. Porter. He touched my soul!
