because it comes off like they are just copyig another bands style, look, sound, mannerisms ect instead of being original. being influenced by something doesnt mean be a carbon copy. take primus for example. les claypool was heavily influenced by rush and the residents yet his music is completely diff than those 2 bands though you can occasionally see the influence

Beth Hart has been doing that since 1993. Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa just came out with a cover of Black Coffee by Humble Pie. People think Greta Van Fleet sounds like Led Zeppelin, but listen to Beth Hart covering Whole Lotta Love.
Same was said about Rival Sons a few years back, and The White Stripes before that. Rock'n'Roll isn't dead, it's just not the center of everyones attention, but who gives a shit. Rock lives best on the fringe anyways.There are plenty kickas rock bands right now. Artists like Spidergawd, Wallace Vanborn, Moses Gunn Collective, The Delta Saints, Blues Pills, Mondo Drag, Kadavar, Kill it Kid, Gary Clark jr, Dead Sara, Death From Above 1979, Bassdrum of Death, Clutch, Philip Sayce, Band of Skulls, All Them Witches, are all making great rock music.
About those who criticize how they sound like the mighty Zep I ask how many bands sounded like the Beatles back in the day and no one said a damn thing? These kids have single handidly saved classic rock from virtual extinction and I bless them for it.
The Who used to sound like the Beatles. Then, they grew their own sound and became legendary. Greta Van Fleet has started doing that with the Battle of Garden’s Gate. Give them a few more years and albums, and we will truly hear the real Greta

There are cracks and imperfections in his voice and I love it all. I haven't heard anything I didn't like from them. I'm a 58 yr old grandma and I'm in love with these guys. I can't get enough. rooting hard for their continued success
I think they jam in a way and on a skill level that is painfully overdue . I’m so glad to see others are diggin these guys along with me. Including my kids (young adults).

I discovered these talented young men trending on duet/stitch on Tiktok. It was a small clip from SNL, but Josh's vocals and the band caught my attention. I did research and listened to everything they've created. There was no autotune/beats/synthesizers. Just pure music with soul. So much talent 👏 🙌 ♥ Sure they have hints of influences of bands in the 70s, but with their own spin on it. Fresh🌻🌻🌻

Greta van Fleet is really cool and they will definitely blow new life in rock. If you like something a little bit harder, I can recommend Royal Blood and Black Pistol Fire, they are also both really promising!

Yes the lead singer sounds like Led Zeppelin (Robert Plant) but I think it sounds more like a compliment to me more than just a comparison. They kick a ton of ass and are bringing back rock music and I like it a lot.
I partied with these guys with my cousins in frankenmuth Michigan where these guys are from they asked if I wanted to go to a party I’m from Chicago so I said hell ya it just so happened to be at their house I will never forget talking to the whole band and learning their inspiration and what they have coming! Great guys!!!!
