People complain that there isn't enough classic rock and there's too much pop, then greta comes out, and everyone starts complaining that they too similar to classic rock bands, wtf
nobody is complainin about rock music died out people are complainin why rock music didnt chart the mainstream like it use to be. underground rock music is still alive and imo better than classic rock and the reason why it still alive because new artist presenting new ideas, new style, and new take on rock. if we gonna glorify a cheap tesco version of what we use to like why even bother makin music anymore. band like these are the reason why rock music is no longer relevant
@@aadliafiq Yeah.. so not relevant.. coming up in the mainstream again, not even having a full LP but already sold out world tour... yeah.. totally not relevant.
He's just got great vocal control. Deeper-voiced people can often actually sing high notes better (if trained) - they have more vocal cord area to work with.
As a guy from the 70s who listened to and saw Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Boston and many more, I give these guys my stamp of approval.
@@johnestupido1418 Do you just hang out on the internet trying to insult people... Little Troll...... Walk up to a 6'2" 230 pound Boomer and say that to his face you little shit....LOL
Bands like Zeppelin have been gone for far far too long. These kids have the influence of all the Blues and Classic Rock. Its fine man. Let them do their thing. Good on them.
Yeah the only problem is they think they dont sound like Led Zeppelin, they say they sound more like Aerosmith, which I mean everybody thinks they are Led Zeppelin at first.
I am a 66 year old guy, former drummer in a band, loved rock and roll all my life, and I thought rock was dead. I can’t believe I just heard of these guys until today when my son turned me on to them. Rock is back!
I heard them for the first time this year (2022) while they were opening the Metallic concert here in Brazil. It was impossible not to compare them with Led Zeppelin... great to see the new generation of good rock!
@@sacapuntasfregerio4274 Our band was called Handpicked, a kind of play on words because we had some very good and talented guitar players. We were out of Tucson Az, and we played gigs all over the state including a couple in the eastern USA. We had a lot of original stuff plus playing cover tunes.
People dont realize how big of a difference your singing is when sitting versus standing. Its harder to fully inflate your diaphram and use the correct muscles to make these different sounds. Hes freaking amazing
@@oldnatty61 where im from, even the 'modern' rock stations play zepplin and sabbath. my point is that recycling the old ways isnt going to save anything. there's a market for it yes, but the people actually pushing guitar music forward are in the progressive and metal genres, so far divorced from this dusty blues based rock as to be almost unrelated at first listen. nothing on the radio is going to truly upset the status quo, its all processed and approved by the powers that be.
Absolutely. Besdes his incredible music taste, they all are very polite guys and very centered. Something unusual for rockers of their age and on this age
metaitachi well, these are kids from a small town with good families. Whats the difference? I dont know but idiots like you seem to love kids from small towns and/or kids who had abusive parents.
They come from a small midwestern town. That’s how most kids are from small towns in south and Midwest. Drugs aren’t a problem and people are respectful. Just because you see bratty millennials on tv and movies etc doesn’t mean they are all like that. Just like everyone thought Trump could never win bc most people that live in urban or suburban areas(which are the majority of people in US) forget about the small town folk all across this land.
It’s doesn’t work as well as a stadium…where he shows exactly what he can do…it doesn’t really do him Justice he’s meant to be where there are good acoustics
This is what I'm waiting on. They havent matured yet. They havent LIVED yet. When the losses start reeling in, honest emotions will flow through their music.
“What was the first thing you wanted to do when you first arrived?” Sam: *being a good citizen* “I wanted to start cleaning up the streets a little bit, get a mop-“ Josh: “sAm WaNtS tO cLeAn Up ThE sTrEeTs.”

4 young guys, with WIRED instruments, WIRED mics, and a SMALL drum kit (al la Charlie Watts), and people are complaining? These guys are keeping the old sounds alive folks, give them props.
Why all this negative comment? I'm a 67y old singer/musician and I know one thing for sure; - You gotta be phenomenally good.....to be called a Led Zep rip off !
Nobody is saying they're not good. We're saying they're not original. Blatantly unoriginal to the point of being called a ripoff. They're awesome musicians.
you 're right . I actually find myself being so negative about them cause it seems to me another attempt by music industry to rewrite rock and make something profitable out of an old product
02/10/23. I’m 59. My son turned me on to this band, and I’ve honestly got goose bumps. I’m watching the early beginnings of what I hope will be a major, major rock band. God bless them, Rock and Roll lives again in a new generation!!
The 3 brothers and the drummer/guitar player all seem pretty well grounded and quite polite. Great parents apparently. Great to see and hear. I've heard 95% good/great things. I did read a bad review or two about not being able to understand Josh's vocals live and ripping on him. I get that but I've watched a few videos from live shows and found them to be really good musicians and Josh does have the Robert Plant voice. I wish them nothing but the best. As a 58 year old man who grew up listening to the greatest rock music, these guys are a breath of fresh air. I just hope fame doesn't find one of them stuck with the 8 ball and the proverbial hot hooker in the cheap motel room down the road. Please don't end up like Howie Epstein of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers who's from my city - Milwaukee. Or don't become a "Shooting Star" by Bad Company. God bless you guys. Stay humble.
Does anyone find it odd he hits those high notes with his eyes wide open? Most of the time you will see singers squinting if not completely closed. Impressive!
If you can sing, find your native key and you'll be amazed how good you can sound especially with skilled musicians backing you up. Not to discredit Greta Van Fleet by any means. They're absolutely brilliant.
@@1234-b6n two bands that sounds similar doesn't dis credit ones talent. Everything made in society is influenced by something that already exists, that's just how things work. Gatekeepers hate on new rock bands no matter what they do, this one just happened to sound similar to LZ and ppl have a problem with it. Why? Just dont listen to it, even Robert P said he liked their music
@Infantryman, Airborne But it is for professional band members. I can only think of another, Dave Grohl. Btw, that's for serving, super troop. From a fellow veteran.
suicide king they aren't copying a band. They have their own quality of music. I mean, they sound like Led Zeppelin but they have shown it in a different way.
iwonder why I like Led Zepplin and Greta but in fairness Led Zeppelin tipped off artist they were inspired by two good examples are their songs Dazed and Confused and Whole Lotta Love.
Also very well mannered!!! Mom and dads you done a great job!!! Good luck guys!!! I am 66 yr old and Led Zeppelin was my favorite band. When i first heard one of your songs I swore that was Robert Plant!!! You guys got it right!!! Rock n roll hall of fame has a spot reserved for Greta Van Fleet!!
"Not the Eagles, man." Gets tossed out of the cap. PS. This band is a group of pretenders. Sounds nice but can't love someone who only want to rip LZ off. Zero class.
You play? I play. Been at it for 30 years. You show me your band. Show me your experience in the trenches. Introduce me to your outfit that has gone from garage to Late Night. Go ahead. Impress me. I doubt you even play.
They are the real deal. Drove my 13yo son 5 hrs from Ontario to the Fillmore in Detroit to see their 1st tour. They kicked ass and took names! Not sure who enjoyed it more ...me or my kid! All hail the return of real music!
neither, i think! my guess is that once jakes hair groes longer it has slight waves, as does josh's when his hair is longer. back when jakes hair was short it was pretty straight, and when they were kids they both had straight hair.
Yes his answers to the this or that questions were very mature and wise I caught it and his voice is very unique sounds kinda like the Teen Titans' Robin
You can still sing in sitting position but the technique needs to be correct. He has his back hunched and neck far too way up to sing properly but it isn't his fault because the microphone isn't positioned for someone to sing.
Welcome to 2023 where music has evolved and so has the world, we aren't in the 1900s anymore buddy. Time for a real evolution not this recession you probably caused
@@bradh9800 Ah, well if you're referring to Led Zeppelin, they disbanded 40 years ago. Greta Van fleet is going to be here another 40 years, you wont. Sure we can enjoy it , BUT people also dont like liars and when s band does not mention the 1 obvious band that influenced them .. they sound EXACTY like Led Zeppilin 1 and nothing like the band they say they are influenced by. nobody is knocking anybody , but they just just keep it real ...
That does seem to be a lot of the issue here. Alot of the trashing does seem to come from them not owning up to the LZ influence. Coming from a band that is heavily influenced by Nirvana, I think it's important to embrace your influences.
Not all of us, i love classic rock immensly & i discovered this band about a year ago & i'm loving it so far (hopefully this global virus doesn't affect them too much though)
lol. it has to do with the fact that he copies plants voice, AND MANNERISMS EXACTLY! he does the same loopy bullshit with his hands that Robert Plant did like he practices it in the mirror every night. Then they go out and try to find clothes EXACTLY like Jimmy Page wore. This band isn't Old rock done modern.. its just a ripoff in every single way of a band that already existed.
@@1234-b6n wrong. I can tell you haven't listened to more than one song. But if you don't like them move along, go keep listening to the same old Zep music ad nauseum
Not a pair of headphones on any band member and for the vocalist to do it without any auto tune or being able to hear himself, that's a sure sign of talent. There's many videos of them playing with headphones and better sound quality and it's spot on. These guys are young as fuck and we haven't let there ashes settle yet.
At 81, Zeppelin was all I respected, until this group was introduced to me by my wild rock CA niece. Now, I can't stop listening to them. So grateful they came along.🎉
My dad was a huge classic rock fan, so I grew up on it. He died in 2020 from cancer and I discovered Greta Van Fleet the following year. I wish so much that he could have heard them play. He'd have loved these young guys bringing back the sound of 70s rock.
God forbid we support an upcoming GOOD rock band! I’m 20 years old and I love classic rock n roll it’s so refreshing and nice to hear kids bringing back that old sound the more support we bring them the more the trash music on the radio now days goes away!!
@@aadliafiq so what is relevant then, mumble rap and billie elish? I'd rather listen to something irrelevant if that's what counts as relevant these days
I ran into Josh outside of Memphis this past weekend. Greta Van Fleet will be rocking the next three generations and become legendary. God bless the guys and everyone
ALL of them, are VERY accomplished musicians, and at a very young age! They need to be given credit where it is due! A killer drummer that can also play guitar,Bass player that can master the piano/keys,A VOCALIST that has his technique NAILED,POWERFUL to say the least,,using the proper breath support,, control, beautiful pitch and tamber, emotional and convincing.Jake on guitar, amazing rhythm and leads and background vocals are SUPERB,the creativity of their music is refreshing. Dont hate them for their influences! All musicians will show you who they are inspired by!! All of you middle aged male haters that call them FEMININE and QUEER,STEP BACK and watch REAL musicians at work!! DONT BE HATING ON THESE YOUNG MEN!!!!! I am 50 years old, lived through decades of the best music, and I KNOW GOOD MUSIC when I hear it!!! Im ALSO a musician myself, and im paying CLOSE attention to this band, they are going places,FAST!Thank God there is some youth of today keeping rock and roll ALIVE!

@@Dagger_323 I'm allowed to not like something, especially something that's a mock of what was done far better 40 years ago. I like rock and roll. This band is a joke of what that is, and if you would like to remain within the cycle that is bands like that desperately trying to recreate the wondrous blues that Page and Plant already innovated on that's your choice. What's childish is thinking that these guys are saving rock and roll. It never needed saving, and a band like this being shown to the mainstream and pop audience as true rock revival is a shame because they look like clowns.
Seem like nice young men. I give them my blessings, and I’m a die hard Zep fan. Their parents have done a good job with these guys! We need more artists like this today.
Just stumbled across this... I'm just blown away!!! No auto tune, thoughtful lyrics, bright clear warm sound! No studio clutter or click trap! I freaking love it
Witness the birth of legends. Rock and Roll is alive and well and these boys are not a flavour of the week band. They will amass a huge fan base and you will still know them in 20 years.........if they don't break up.
I just love how absolutely real the live song is. even live songs on radio never really feel like they're just performing it live on the spot in your living room. This does
OK I'm a fan now. All the right answers to the questions at the end, the drummer & bassist come in with guitars, the kid sings this stuff in the upper register cold (good to be young!). I worry that he's going to shred his voice singing like that, but maybe that's just how he's built. Cool kids, good players, and I say they're not a ripoff of Zeppelin. Influenced? Yes. But clearly they have a lot of classic rock influence. The tunes are cool, the music is raw... what's not to like?
@@ccshredder9506 they are not replicating. Otherwise you could tell that Bush is only replicating Nirvana. That all these mumble rappers are replicating OG Mumbler. And that Led Zeppelin was just a rip off of J.R.R. Tolkien as Richard Plant admitted that laot of his lyrics were inspired by Lord of the Rings. Are every classic rock band rip offs of The Beattles? Maybe we should cancel all classic rock bands because they are unoriginal?
Exactly!!!!!!!!!!! I'm thinking... you have a cold, you have to sing tonight or tomorrow night... STOP TALKING, much less SINGING- that's how you get nodes... lolol I'm like, I am going to be your road mom...I was looking at their concert schd. coming up this year. Way too many gigs too close together. I really am crazy about them. lol
@@UncleRots Well lots of artists would get pissed at that because they wouldn't want new artists to copy them. Also I find it kinda funny how only kids seem to dislike them and accuse them of copying Led Zep while most people who grew up listening to Led Zep loves them judging from most of the comments I see. I don't know what it is about this generation and being negative about everything they can possibly think of instead of seeing the good in things and in this case just enjoy music. Clearly Led Zeppelin is way better though but I wouldn't necessarily say that Greta Van Fleet is a horrible band and they don't deserve the hate.
Supply link......or might that be concocted fake news....that says "Page & Plant support them wholeheartedly" ?.... bytheway.......Lady GaGa and Axl Rose 'support' them also ....... Although they certainly are refreshing opposed to crap rap saturated radio , but they still remain a lot of loud screaming loud gittars and loud drums , missing the "L .Z." subtlety. Anyway...any band that is a favourite of sir Elton John 🙄, is suspect in my little red book.....
I heard a sound bite of Robert the Plant talking about how he first listened to them and was taken back of what he heard. I can only assume by the way he had spoken of it that he was flattered. Later on when these guys had been asked about who their main influence was, they had cited Aerosmith. They sound nothing like Aerosmith, and needless to say, The Plant felt the sting. I'm sure that he acknowledges their talent either way but being a Led Zepplin fan myself hearing plant talk about that soured my ears to them. Sue me.
they're hella into drugs, the singer in a recent interview admited that he couldn't see life without drugs love and sex, got into that hippie mindset 😂
GamersTubeCRC honestly it might just be anxiety and nervousness. I get very similar to that as well when I’m anxious. I don’t know where to place my hands so I get fidgety and I’ll stutter and be a bit more erratic when speaking. It’s pretty easy for me to spot it in other people.
I love this acoustic performance: more than most things I've heard in awhile. They're already writing songs in my opinion that are far greater than many other seasoned artists. They're already on top. Got chills listening.
Saw this band two nights ago at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN. These kids rocked the house. This is my new favorite band for sure. I don't think that they'll be playing the small venues for very long.
This was a great interview. I'm 53 this year. My rock and roll depression began in 1995 when Jerry Garcia passed. I have not been more excited for a band since 1972. The soul power is strong. I hope to hear these guys till I die. Yeah.
Driving to a job one day, and turned on the radio. I heard what I later found out was Highway Tune, but at the time I thought to myself, how the hell have I not heard this Zeppelin tune before?? This is crazy!! Was sooo shocked to hear it was a new band called Greta Van Fleet. Great band.
People used to complain that RUSH was a led zep rip off... They ended up doing a few shows and made a couple of ok album's... WHAT in the hell does the general public know? 4 "guys" that can actually play instruments... I'll take it over the shit fest that is popular music these days.
well, the bands he mentioned were all 60s bands, including the Yardbirds which is what Led Zeppelin formed from. it does bug the shit out of me that they still havent named zepp as one of their influences tho because they obviously sound exactly like them...
Despite what anyone things the younger generation positively knows about the great rock bands like Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Bad Company etc. They are the ones seeking out and playing vinyl now cause its great music and some of them are starting bands and just like this band is and interpreting the music the way they hear it which is great. This particular band has what it takes to make a major impact and bring rock music back in the public eye. I personally don't think it will be the way it was in the 60's and 70's but this band with a little guidance and refining could have people listening to rock music again instead of this rap crap. I give these guys a lot of credit for getting out there and doing what they do. Hey playing sold out shows is a great start cause it means people are listening and paying money to check this out. I wish the band a lot of success!
It's kinda sad when Gen Z and younger millenials prefer classic rock and 80s-90s rock to modern rock. But then it's cool coz hopefully people of my generation get inspired to pick up the guitar or drum sticks or the microphone and start a band
The Rockingbird . Hi Rocking. Its not that sad in reality cause the bands playing "modern rock" were all influenced by what everyone calls now classic rock or "retro" music. No matter what spin you want to put on it modern rock is taking ideas and sounds from classic rock bands. I listen to interviews with the newer rock bands and when asked what got you started and who influnced you its led zeppelin, Aerosmith etc. Thats where the younger bands get it from and its great to hear how they interpret the music.
I seen some of their live concerts and he dresses eccentric like Freddie Mercury and it kind of moves on stage just a little bit like Freddie Mercury but he sings like Led Zeppelin. And that combination is great
SO happy to discover these guys!!! The music industry is so deprived of rock and roll these days. and I hate to be such a... *shudders* ...fangirl about it but they are pretty damn dreamy
THen the problem is that you don't know about anything outside of the top 40 ... rock is alive and well - you just have to search for it. Only kids and cretins listen to the top 40 ffs
I just went and bought their album. I'm not at all affiliated with the band, but please go put money into them guys and support them. God damn, it's so refreshing to hear this sound in 2018!
These guys have a hit Rock Band. I am a 61 year old African American woman and I only learned about this band through Tik Tok a week ago, and I love their sound. My youngest Son, Jon plays Rock and Roll since he and his friends were 12 years old setting up Drums, Guitars, and etc. in my basement. One of my three boys was a Rapper, and the middle Son loves to listen to R & B. Just goes to show how eclectic music is. I look forward to listening the differing tones coming out of Josh’s mouth. He’s kinda got a multi Vibe, from Freddie Mercury to whatever he feels like belting out. They are fun to watch. And Jake; Kudos for your guitar skills. 😊
Never left a comment before, but was getting ready for work listening to RU-vid blasting rock and heard this band and thought to myself I have never heard this Led Zeppelin song. I came out and immediately pressed the button for info and found this awesome band. Have worn out their videos since and will see them in concert one day!
People need to take this band as it’s own band. There is no need to compare and belittle them because you think someone else is better. Stuff like this needs to be supported so it can spread.
BLEAK MILLY then you might as well tell every musician to get their own sound if you think about it...Zeppelin themselves got rhythms from likes of Janis Joplin, Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Etc... Look, It's awesome for such a young group reviving styles of my generation to a modern level...Now my kids and grandkids can actually feel what real music is, and rock n roll isn't dead, she just took a long nap..we can all agree on that...So let them storm the stages and sell out arenas....I'm gonna love watching these boys shine bright..
