it's my absolute favorite winner of the first ESC years... it's brilliant sophisticated mysterious and cool. What a song.. and this uptempo version shows how much potential the song had...
I didn't know there was an English-language version of this song. I can't believe this wasn't a major world-wide hit in the 1960's! This is so beautiful. Compared to most of the other hits of the hippie-era, this is up among the best, I think.
the song is so amazing, i can't stop listening to it. This version has its own attraction, faster, fresher than the original but still make me motivated. They still keep the essence of the original song. I love the singer's warm voice and the way she lingered. She's so concordant with the song, singing naturally even in a different language. Moreover, the english lyrics is sooo sweet, it makes me want to hear more.
This appears to be another clip from "Gala-Abend der Schallplatte", a TV special broadcast on the second day of German color television, August 26, 1967.
Geez why have I never heard of Grethe Ingmann? What a perfect voice for jazz. I remember Jorgen of course from school dances in 4th or 5th grade when they played “Apache” on the ‘phonograph.’
Cool, but unfortunately the lyrics are much more beautiful and much deeper in the original, danish. The melancholy and romantic sense gets lost in this one... but thanks anyway 🎶👍
Elsewhere here is the OEM recording of "Apache" , which I listened to in 1960 when it was on the Hit Parade. Also there are two derog comments about it. Incredible; given that in 1960 Jorgen was at or above the level of both Atkins and Paul. No disrespect intended, but you can hear here that his execution was flawless. His version of Apache was soulful to tears! Herein lies further proof of his mastery of the beloved Guitar. Wish it was in sync!
@pantojafan thanks for this, I am a big Jørgen Ingmann fan, I love the jazz stuff he did. Maybe you know if he's still around? I can't get any information of what happened to him...
