Joe's passion for Gretsch guitars really shows and I never seen anybody that can play the Chet Atkins style with a regular flat pick better that Greg!

For decades I avoided Gretsch, thinking it's an old man's guitar. Then I was lucky enough to acquire one and now I have four! Gretsch makes great, great, versatile guitars!

do you have a favorite Gretsch out of your 4 ? I'm shopping for one and hard time deciding , Peace !

@@jixxxxer17 You know it depends. In the studio it's fair game. But for live I think I prefer one of my Duo Jets. Just because it's semi solid and a bit smaller.

I've owned two old Country Gents; a '64 and a single-cut '60. I would love to have either of them back today. I still play a Gretsch 6120 '59 reissue, and I love it, but I miss those classy old Country Gents.

The banter between these two gentlemen is fun to watch. The Country Gentleman is a totally marvelous guitar. I was able to upgrade to one after seeing my Electromatic 5122. That was a great guitar, but the Country Gentleman is so much more. I wish I could play it as good as done hear, but it has improved my playing. I like it to playing a guitar with an automatic transmission! It's that good.

I had a bif orange version of this guitar back in the mid 60's. It had only one mute, however. I bought it used for 300 bucks, and sold it a couple years later for 300 bucks. It had a great neck, but the tones were somewhat limited as I recall. Anyway, that is what I thought, and why I eventually sold it.

Gregs a mutant freak o' nature! My middle fingie is 3.25" long or I would play like this! ok maybe not but I am structurally compromise since birth. Gregs finger are longer than Jimis? Robben Ford too has super long fingers. My only hope is guys like Danny Gatton with short fingers that overcome our limitations. I think Gregs ring finger is longer than his middle one?

The one you feel most comfortable. Depends on the guitar scale length and what you like to play (bend or not, jazz -> Flatwounds, etc.)
@charliebrown1949

Why, when they reissued this, to such an excellent, and accurate extent, did they put the (wrong) "G" in the headstock inlay???? I have a 1966 Country Gent, and have owned, or seen (friends) other Gretsch guitars, from that same time period, and they ALL had the flat top/squared off "G" in the Gretsch Logo! So, WHY the rounded version, that is historically incorrect?! :(

zero fret? :c
@everonlyallforthee
@everonlyallforthee 7 лет назад
What exactly is it about the zero fret that affects the string height and such? I know there's a reason for it, but I don't know the technical aspects.
@NekoMilkshake
@NekoMilkshake 7 лет назад
as far as i have researched, a Zero fret will have less intonation problems and better action than a conventional nut! Nice!

The sound hole decals are just stupid. Who would've cared about that? If they were'n't on there it would be fine. IDK why they felt like they needed to fake it.

3:00 you really need to eliminate that horribly sounding riff for demo purposes. Play something that sells the guitar, not make you cringe man. It’s not even pleasant to listen too
