I go through a 2019 Gretsch Streamliner G2420-ABB. It has an odd wiring schematic that makes the pickups cut out when the center switch is selected.

I just bought this guitar and I love it, I know this is probably a stupid question but what does the g stand for? I know the ABB is for Aged Brooklyn Burst. Probably better than New Jersey Burst

@williamsherman1089 could be something simple as Guitar or Gretsch.

Glad I never bought the hollow body Gretsch , I have the same pups BT-2S in a streamliner semi hollow and they sound way beefier than those did , that was really painful to listen to.

Lol. Probably why I was never into hollowbodies. They always sound like a miked acoustic to me. Also, it was only going through the lil Peavey Rage. I think these need a big warm amp to sound right.

@@promognome Yes the BT-2S pups in my semi still sound better at 1/2 a watt. I'm going to try a hollow bodied one next time I'm near the only music shop inside of 60 miles just to see (Hear) the difference for myself.

I have a Gretsch G2420T and I have never been satisfied with the tone. I have a 1964 Gretsch Single Anny, and I put two HS Filtertrons in it, and it really sounds great, nice mellow tone that is more like the Chet Atkins sound. I play gospel and the 64 Gretsch is perfect. I have replaced the BT-2S pups with black top filtertrons and It still does not have that mellow tone. Any suggestions on modifications.? When I installed the HS Filtertrons on the 64 Gretsch, I intentionally left out the tone control pot, since I never use the tone control anyway. Would this help the Streamliner to take out the tone control do you think? I know wiring is a pain, but I would undertake the task if it would help. Any sugestions appreciated.

@@dannynewman4077 I think you will always get a more hollow tone with these guitars. Have you tried it through a different amp? This one sounded very weak thru a practice amp, but sounded really good in a fender combo.
