"He did show the power of being very lucky" Tbf that is very strong. I recently played my Yidris deck and accidentally won on turn 5. My opponents complained that I brought an overpowered deck to the table, and I didn't know how to explain that a lot of decks look overpowered when you get the perfect draws (or in this case cascade hits). Extreme luck OP.

I once godhanded (and had to perfectly sequence to do it) a turn 1 Kozilek, Butcher of Truth into Lightning Greaves and Winter Orb. Everyone literally scooped before the end of my turn and told me my deck was BS. I had to take the time to point out the draw and play were almost literally a million to one odds and they'd likely never ever see it happen again. Its weird feeling so good but so dirty and so bad at the same time lol.
@YetAnotherScrub
@YetAnotherScrub 4 года назад
@@RoxyGotMoxy. Turn 1 Kozilek is it's own level of filth. How? I'm guessing you used a reanimation effect or some other way to cheat it into play? 10 mana is too much on turn 1. Either way it's obviously not a consistent thing. If any deck could consistently do that it would redefine CEDH.

@@MTGMuddstah Thank you for your response. Teferi's Veil reads "Whenever a creature you control attacks, it phases out at the end of combat." So, I decided to do some digging to figure out if unearth and phasing actually worked, and it's a little complicated. Since unearth exiles if the creature leaves the battlefield, I assumed that phasing out would be considered that, but phasing actually keeps the creature on the battlefield, but it doesn't exist. At the end of turn, the unearth will trigger, but since the creature doesn't exist, it will fizzle. However, I think the leaving the battlefield exile is still attached to the creature.
@charlesmaillho367
@charlesmaillho367 4 года назад
Your initial assessment was correct. Since the phasing causes the creature to still be on the battlefield, it never technically left so therefore it won't be exiled at the end of the turn. However, if that card were to leave the battlefield any other way on any subsequent turn, it would be exiled instead because it is the same object that was initially put onto the battlefield.

@AstridCeleste96
@AstridCeleste96 4 года назад
I think the way he built it was suspect. He's usually a life=damage output semi-voltron OHKOer. That's stronger at some tables than others, and is a pretty easy strategy to stop, so it may have been too weak for his metas.
@09Dragonite
@09Dragonite 4 года назад
Just out of curiosity, Martin did not flip any coins for Mirror March when his creatures phased back in right? I wanted to make sure that didn't happen because Phasing does not cause ETBs to trigger and I see a lot of people make that mistake with weird card interactions. I love Teferi's Veil, it is a super goofy card that can protect your entire board against all kinds of shenanigans, but it would be super busted if Phasing actually interacted with ETB effects.
@johnkidby7948
@johnkidby7948 2 года назад
Phasing is a weird mechanic that a lot of people get wrong, but I don't think that they screwed that particular thing up. However, it should've kept the Lightning Ragers around since you can't sacrifice something that's phased out.

Ya know, I've seen coins get flipped on a couple live games the past few weeks, and it seems like EVERYONE just lets the coin land on the table. Why is this? Am I the only one who catches it, then flips it on to my other hand? Seems like it could bounce or roll away, not to mention damage a card >_>
@eduardorodrigues8354
@eduardorodrigues8354 4 года назад
Catching the coin before it lands makes it not random. You can manipulate a coin-flip very easily by knowing what side is up when flipping, making it spin a certain number of times and then catching it. The randomness comes from the coin hitting the ground and rolling around. Just roll a dice.
@solidmasterdante
@solidmasterdante 4 года назад
@@eduardorodrigues8354 Uh... what? I guess if you're a professional coin flipper. I flip coins like this and never have any idea what the result will be. You just flip it, and it spins a bunch. How would you count the number of spins? Like... seriously, wtf? If you flip the coin, it spins a bunch, you catch it, then immediately flip it on to your hand. This should all be a fairly quick action, and if you're somebody who can somehow always figure out what the result is, then it's because you've put a bunch of time in to practice it, in which case you're a cheat, and nobody should want to play with you anyways. Also, even if you COULD do this, why would you? It's a casual game of Magic. Just flip the coin and don't try to manipulate the results like a trash person.
@eduardorodrigues8354
@eduardorodrigues8354 4 года назад
@@solidmasterdante It's not a "count the spins" thing, it's more a matter of strenght. I practiced it as a kid and could consistently manipulate the results like 80% of the time. I agree with you. You SHOULDN'T do this. EDH is about having fun. However, it is something you CAN do, and people are scumbags sometimes. If I see you catching a flip I'd say why I don't trust it and kindly ask for a die roll

@prestonlee9445
@prestonlee9445 4 года назад
So, what happened with all those Teferi’s Veil triggers? The attacking creatures were supposed to phase out at the end of combat. But on the turn that Illharg put out Rune Scarred Demon it got returned to hand even though it phased out and wasn’t on the field to return to hand. So the demon should have stayed and he shouldn’t have gotten to tutor with it and the copies a second time. Even if I’ve misunderstood the interaction between phasing and Ilharg, those Rune scarred demons shouldn’t have been on the battlefield to sac because they phased out at the end of Combat.
@johnkidby7948
@johnkidby7948 2 года назад
The demons didn't trigger the veil because they were never declared attackers; they were already attacking when the entered. It's much the same as how on-cast triggers don't go off when you put something directly onto the battlefield.
