N 5150 I believe you are confused. They’re in love like all of us, I think that what your family want you to think. Have you ever heard “love is strong word”? I believe you do. I know that you might not get it and I'm pretty sure by your actions that you don't approve but their love has never been wrong. It's just different that's all. But I know that you think that love was created for a man and a woman. I get it you don't approve. In the past I would have done anything for my family approval, and I mean anything. But in this case I don't think I care if I have their approval or not. It's 2018, the future, and I know it's not what you grew up with but you have to understand that this isn't the world you grew up in. People are starting to realize that love isn't about gender but what's in a person's heart. And our heart tells us to be with a person you want to spend a rest of your life with and love them forever but I don't think we can give them up not even for you.

That's exactly what my mom yelled to my father about before I stopped talking to him. He wanted to have me committed. Not because I am gay, but because I am trans. He blamed my mom for "influencing" my feeling of being the opposite gender and he thought having me committed would solve everything. What he didn't and still doesn't understand is, by being in denial like that, I hate him. I hate being around him, I hate talking to him. He talks to me and about me like he is ashamed of me, like I have some sort of contagious disease. Like I have no right to even breathe the same air as a "normal" person because I might contaminate them. My mom, on the other hand, chose to accept me the way I am. Loves me for ME and if ME is being trans, then so be it. I feel so sorry for parents who can't just love and accept their children for what and who they are. If YOU need help to accept and understand your child, then seek help. Don't blame them for your trans and/or homophobia. They did nothing wrong.

This scene makes me cry so much. This hits so damn hard. My dad and stepmom never understood bisexuality (even though I am pansexual I thought I was bi when I was younger) and they hated whenever I would tell people I was. They told me I had to choose either the opposite or the same sex or they would send me away to a mental hospital. I was only 12 about that time so I was scared. I remember the nights I stayed up crying, wondering when they would. Come to find out my grandma had found out about them threatening me like that and yelled at them. She said they were being awful and should accept that I like both genders, she even threatened to call CPS and have me and my little brother taken from them if they didn’t change. They did finally come around, but it still hurt a lot. I know not everyone is lucky to have someone defend them like that, and I wish it was like that. But I just hope everybody just loves who they love, and be strong enough to ignore everybody who hates on them.

My daughter came out last year. She apologized, I said, no! You don't apologize for that, it's one part of you, it's how you were born, baby! I love you for everything that you are. Being a homosexual is not something that needs to be, or can be corrected. It's not an illness, it's not a choice.

I would love so much to have a father like him who doesn't care that I'm gay. As long as I'm happy and loved.

this scene made me cry. i had a whole mental breakdown. wish we had more parents like this who aren’t afraid to speak out for their child, even if it’s to their own spouse.

Absolutely loved this scene. Took him a while, but the dad finally grew a backbone to protect his little girl. To hell with his wife, to hell with any bias he might have, he decided his daughter was more important, as any good parent should. Liked that the "mother" was so taken aback that she didn't even have a comback, which means either she realized the erorro of her ways (unlikely), or she realized the dad was 100% serious, and knew she'd lose any court battle in an instant (more likely).

0:52 I wish people would also say the same for religious people who were discriminated against and treated as the bad guys by the non-believers who hated them for what they are. They’re human beings too just like LGBT people. There were religious children whose parents didn’t believe and mistreated them.

its the opposite for me, mom doesn't care. but dad does. He doesn't know yet, mom has enough respect to not tell. I don't believe in God either. I've told dad, but I also said that I had enough respect for him to not say anything afterwards and respect his opinions also. he said nothing, so I just turned my back and went into my room. I don't want to be this way, I can't help it. I just don't want to feel this animosity anymore, I just want to be loved and respected for who I am. And I sure as hell don't want to be that perfect daughter you always dreamed of, please don't try to change me. I am who I am, and you can't stop me for nothing.

I waited for my dad to do this for me all my teenage life. I wished that he would stand up against my big bully mum. I even fantasised that he would divorce her and take me away with him. But he never did so spoke to him about it. He just told me to accept my mum and her bullying ways as he did. So I left as soon as I could before I lost my mind and my life.

a true parent would never even consider hurting their child. emotionally or physically, doesn't matter. if you hurt your children, if you make them feel unloved by telling them a part of them, that they cannot change, is wrong, you aren't a parent. you're a monster. and you don't deserve that kid.

For all of those people out there that have parents who don't say this, and who have parents that do care about who they love or want to be and judge them every step of the way: be strong. Because your blood doesn't need to be your family, and you'll find people who will make your new family and will love you for who you are.

I feel pity for the mother, and for anyone else exhibiting her behavior, those too afraid and insecure to investigate themselves to find their responsibility in these situations. The mother redeems herself by finally bowing her head and crying. Anger, even though it is a part of the grief cycle, is always a secondary emotion. It’s easy to say that such investigating is easy but it’s arduous for many people. Some people don’t want to admit that they’re wrong.

In the future, it won't matter to me how long we've been in love and how much I saw my whole world in them, my girlfriend or wife is like this cold against my son or daughter, I will always choose my kid over her because the only thing they'll ever know is their dad loves and supports them no matter what and puts them first before anything else in the world. This is a true dad right here with everything he said.
