Greyhounds raced in extreme heat at Kinsley and Perry Barr dog tracks. 

The dogs at Perry Barr are kept in air conditioned kennels with water and are kept comfortable. A lot of dogs naturally pant as they prepare to race. Their is water at the pick up where the dogs stop after the race. Dogs are returned to cool kennels with water. A trainer can withdraw a dog or the vet can call the meeting off in extreme conditions. Doesn't sound cruel to me. As for Kinsley, i wouldn't know about their kenneling conditions.

There used to be racing at Phoenix Greyhound Park in Phoenix, AZ in the summer heat. The dogs raced at night; even then the temps were in the low to high 90s. Now the park is closed, and there's no more dog racing in AZ. I'm so glad. I always felt sorry for these dogs. I had a greyhound once. He was found looking for food around some dumpsters. His ear tattoos were still legible, so I contacted the racing secretary, gave his tattoo numbers, and was told he hadn't raced for 5 years. The dog was old, and was severely underweight, and his teeth were very bad. He only weighed 45 pounds. I had to have most of his teeth pulled by the vet, put on a diet to get some weight back on him, which took quite a while. He got back up to 75 pounds, and looked great. He started getting growths on him after I had him for a little over a year. Vet said it was cancer, and it had spread, so I had him put to sleep. He was such a gentle dog.

As i stated in my first comment,yes there are bad apples & unsavoury practices within the greyhound scene just as there is within horseracing,football,athetics,boxing etc etc but to tar the whole of the picture with the same brush is a complete no brainer just like the aforementioned sports the majority of those within the greyhound scene do so because they love it & thier greyhounds which are cared for, kept,fed & treated with thier health,welfare & happiness being of the utmost importance & ensure the same with retired racing greyhounds. I can assure you that you will not find anyone more dedicated to these ends than those involved with greyhounds nor more opposed to the 'bad elements' which do as in all sports slip through the net,however, the net is closing in & those 'bad elements' are finding it more difficult to stay under the radar hence why more often than not they have shifted towards the overseas markets as stated which is a matter for authorities which as we all know struggle to kerb the illegal import/export of all animals which has gone on here for decades but it would be fair to presume therefore that the steps taken by the GBGB etc to weed out the 'bad elements' must be having some impact here as the shift to exporting greyhounds abroad has been the trend of those 'bad elements' which is a matter outside of the jurisdiction of the good people doing a difficult job within the various greyhound welfare organisations & governing boards within the UK.

After the race they get put in a nice cool pool to cool off and make they have enough water you don’t know anything

Do they not race greyhounds in Australia where it’s much hotter ?

Horrible display of animal cruelty... It would be the equivalent to watching seniors in their walkers racing! OmG, I can't believe how some traditions have become the norm... It's so mind boggling that people will say they love animals.. yet treat them like this! Shameful!

i think some of these videos are crazy. i have a greyhound lyin on my sofa who is panting heavy. they will run for 30 seconds then be cooled down and hydrated in the kennels. yes there are a minority of trainers or owners whom i would happily let die a slow death but u guys are bonkers trying to shame everyone who has them. i know of a woman who is anti racing like yourself and has a house full of retired greys amd one day last years while they were out their walk and haf there usual gallop in a park one fell over and broke its neck so is this woman now being gruel to her dogs????

Racing greyhounds at these tracks are regulated by the GBGB(Greyhound board of Great Britain) all the dogs are routinely checked /monitored by qualified vets specialising in greyhounds before ,during & after each race or trial & are kept in air conditioned,clean & well inspected kennells & monitored by thier owners/trainers/kennelhands & qualified staff at all times & becouse of this are 10 times LESS likely to suffer & require vetinary treatment than the average family pet...FACT. Greyhounds are the oldest breed going back to the days of Egyptian fairos, are bred to run by nature & stopping them from doing what thier natural instincts tell them to do is by far more cruel than allowing them to do as they are meant to. There are bad elements in every sport & racing greyhounds obviously has some of these bad elements but to tar all greyhound racing with the same brush is a complete no brainer, do you honestly believe that if these animals were in any sort of danger or being exploited that they'd actually be parading this on tv for all to see? If so then this would surely be a failing on the part of the establishment, the RSPCA etc & tv broadcasters,bookmakers etc? Please be aware of ALL the facts before passing comment or judgement.
