they are structually, formally simple and sounds plain but i like these suite cuz of musically well maded. wouldn't thats show us his genius? especially like the first and fifth.
Too fast, tune poked out, very little interest in playing this first piece, love is absent. No.4 kept extremely with the metronome. No.7 where's the phrasing? The rest are passable. 6/10!!
The Watchman's song is one of the most beautiful classical piece. Unfortunatly, I could'nt say it listening this play. So usual on Utube.. People knows how to play.. technically. But not musically.. Sad🙄
His piano concert is one of the best ever composed, on par with Rachmaninoff's second and fourth in terms of period. I'd say the theatre pieces (e.g. Peer Gynt Suite) is amongst the best romantic period pieces ever; I'd easily sideline it with Rachmaninoffs and Tschaikovsky's finest symphonies and symphonic dances. What regards the period (late romanticism), Grieg was easily one of the foremost.
