My best friend and crush passed away and she asked me to listen to this, so here I am in my living room at 11 pm crying my eyes out listening to the piano
Things will get better friend, she would not want you to be sad, so live life in her name and her honour : ) You are lucky to have such a strong connection with this music and you should keep it that way
My precious cat, Tigger, after a long battle with cancer, lay in my arms the day he died, with my son playing this on the piano. That was 10 days ago. This piece makes me cry. It was the last time I held him.
I love your playing style with this masterpiece. When I was just a toddler I always asked my mother to play this melody on the piano all the time. She played it just like you Sir. I see many pianists rushing this song. I really like how you are so delicate with your relaxed style of working the keys. You play this wonderful song exactly as my mom did. I have to say that listening to you brought tears to my eyes even though I am a rock bassist and drummer. My mother has long passed, but in my memory I can still hear her playing this song. Thank you so much for your rendition and the memories of this song played by my mother!
Philip Uh, no. It starts and ends on C Major, therefore, it’s in C Major. Plus, Parallel minor means the minor key with the same tonic note, so the parallel minor of C major is C minor. A minor is the relative minor of C major
A perfect song to help relax with, with the heartbeat in the left hand as the piece flows through peacefully like a river. It fills one with tranquil thoughts.
This was incredible. The trills and measures before them were perfectly timed! Easily the best, most accurate, and most well played recording on RU-vid.
Very very well done!!!! I am learning this piece right now and have trouble with the syncopation of the left hand and the right hand... I keep coming back to this for reference. Incredible!
I love your gentle interpretation of this lovely piece. To play it on a Fazioli brings it to a new level of beauty. Wow! you have beautiful touch and control.
Fantastic recording. This really saved my life when I was getting ready to play it in my end of year music school exams 😄 I gave it a very well deserved thumbs up!!!
I like this version best on RU-vid. You keep a nice steady 1-2-3 beat throughout, but alot of people here play the left hand with a delay on the second beat, then other times back to 1-2-3 again. I reckon it's more important to vary touch than tempo to get feeling into a piece. And in this piece the melody is so simple and beautiful it doesn't need much embelishment. Nice work. Well done.
This is one of the most difficult pieces I ever learned. Keeping track of multiple contiguous time signatures was in some ways a mental torture, but if it comes together, it is so beautiful. I'm fortunate enough to have spent time in Bergen, and see the statues of great composers, including Grieg.
Takes you to another world...the world we should be living in, that we know deep down in our most heightened precious moments... It is only in such moments we are truly awake and truly alive, beyond all mere thoughts...
i first heard this composition in the BBC 1974 adaptation of Tom's Midnight garden and i've never been able to find out what it was until today i watched a film from 2015 called the witness with the same music - the film about the Murder of Kitty Genovese, the music is featured around 46 minutes in. 50 years of searching and finally found. thank you x
by supreme musicianship, above all such clarity of note and phrase with perfect timing, and pause, depth and delicacy of play, Alessandro Stella draws or fingers into the work a suspense that heightens the poignancy and power of Grieg's not so little star of creation

I have listened to a few versions where it isn't even funny how fast they go. Some people just speed through this song but I like it better at a slower tempo
Elaine Liu it's quite lovely like this, I think this piece depicts a waking day, the morning and you can just feel all the flowers opening, birds singing.... it's calm but eager at the same time :)
Well done, HEP Hep! Also, can we not make music a competition, about who's better than us? Because that's not what music is about. It's about immersing yourself in sound, expressing yourself, bringing joy to others- music is a universal language we all understand in our own ways. No matter what your level, if you can make beautiful music that's an acheivement in itself. But I still congratulate you for being 13 and playing at a considerably high level for your age. Well done.
