There will be a followup video where I share more about this loss. However, we wanted to post this heartbreaking part of the rescue because it's a reality. As it was happening, we read how important it was for the mom to be able to have that closure... so we tried to help her understand so she could move forward with the other little ones.
She was able to get through the loss, and continue to raise her babies.

And even though this little one crossed the rainbow bridge, almost a year later I was able to save a bunny due to the experiences we had with the kittens and all the care they required... This little angel is now keeping our sweet Benny company ❤️🌈

💕The little one is the best company with our sweet boy Benny who crossed the rainbow bridge a couple of years ago... so even in heaven, he's loved and not alone 💖

She was, but she was able to move forward and take care and raise the others with all of her love. Her strength is admirable ❤️

It was a hard moment, she really loved (and loves) being a mom. Even while they were still in her tummy, it was the only time we'd ever seen her stand up for herself, just to protect them. Each one was a little treasure for her and she loved them all ❤️

We documented all of Nubi's motherhood journey, as we tried helping her. We shared the miracle of life that it was for her to give birth and unfortunately she also had to go through this pain. There were originally 5 kittens, we lost one. After this occured, I learned that losing a kitten can be common. The confusion a mother cat feels not being given the opportunity to grieve also has major consequences. This moment with her kitten was essential for her to be able to nurse and continue loving the other kittens that survived. This is not a situation to hide from, as it's the sad reality. To not acknowledge that she went through a period of grief wouldn't be true to her story.

She did spend time on her own, but we also made sure she felt LOVED. She spent all of her pregnancy scared and alone, not sure who to trust. She reacted well to our support (hence the eye closings as I rubbed her head), so we stayed to make sure she knew we were there to help her. We didn't want her to go into a depressive state and then things would get worse. And in the end, our approach worked out. She was able to surpass this loss and raise her other kittens and now runs around the house happily. If when you rescue cats leaving them completely on their own works for you, that's okay. However, for us, after all she'd been through, being there for her was all we could offer, so we did what we felt was best for her and her other kittens.
