Congratulations to Paul, amazing display of stylish tennis throughout this whole tourney. To be honest I lost my Stake bet because I am a huge Grigor fan and I also thought he had a chance but you know what guys? im not even mad because I got to watch awesome Tennis and that is all I care about in the end. Fun fact Paul now has more titles than Tiafoe 😂
Paul and Dimitrov are two of my favorite players. I admire both their style and personalities, and whenever they play against other players... I always root for them to win. Paul is strong today, he deserves it..happy
Paul went supernova this season. Grigor deserves credit for making finals but this guy deserves to win one more title even a 250 to call it a career. He's done well in the era of big 3 but just can't bag the big one.
@@Stu49583 not really.. It's about looking effortless and having a mix of footwork and perfect technique in every shot. Also being fluid and never abrupt. These 2 posses it at a level that only federer could reach. Footwork is often overlooked in this regards as it ultimately is how you consistently get to exactly where you need to be in order to play a perfect shot. Regarding musetti, he's great but has some abruptness at times.
@@Rodrigorodriguez20241 Fritz, Tiafoe and Shelton all get more attention than he does. In Fritz's case that's probably deserving as he's won a 1000 and been ranked as high as #5, but the other two not so much.
@@HeavyTopspin Fritz has just made a US Open final too, I don't think he gets much more attention otherwise before that, and the other two are much louder and more vocal showy personalities. Tommy Paul just quietly, professionally goes about his business. I do think Paul is probably better than the three of them though.
Tommy paul's placement of the ball in different parts of the court is very interesting. He is constructing the point very well. His soft touch at the net.. sometimes playing lazy.. he is bringing variety.
He's an underrated player. Tactical point construction and not about power. Grigor did great but just fell short. He deserves to win one more title to call it a career. But nowadays even 250 titles are hard to win. Was rooting for Stan the man and Grigor but both fell short. Sadly this marks the end of the one hander generation .
Tommy Paul has something of Agassi's playing style!- Quick, short stepped footwork, solid groundstrokes with short backswings. But he does have a soft touch play too...
He had a breakout season doing deep in US Open and finally bags a title. Well done. Grigor deserves credit too. This ol' timer and Stan the man is the last of the one hander generation so was rooting for them but both fell short. Paul will step up to win the big one. A Grand Slam is out of each but Masters 1000 is possible.
How to be a tennis commentator: - Print out a list of superlatives and adjectives - and read out the above list of superlatives and adjectives, with cadence and enthusiasm. Ta da... you're hired. This lady got to be the most annoying commentator I've heard, and unfortunately, I've been hearing her for years. We want analysis, observations, and tid-bits. Not an adjectives class. Sheesh!
Agree. I get that this is free content and we shouldn’t complain but she sounds like a video game commentator… basic one word reactions with zero match or player analysis whatsoever
@beaurepairs9553 You have all the right to complain, my friend. They're making ad revenue out of you. Also, you never know. Someone who matters might read this and decide not to hire the adjective lady.
Agree wholeheartedly but I would add that even in terms of delivering a class in adjectives she would still be utterly mediocre because she deals in total clichés: how many bloody times does she exclaim 'brilliant', 'exquisite', 'ridiculous'?
Both these guys look and move like athletes and what I mean by athlete is someone who’s good at a variety of sports. Some people look coordinated in one sport but put a racket in their hand and you wonder how they’re good at any sport.
Paul has an immense advantage: he attacks with both forehand and backhand while Grigor’s backhand is mostly defensive. His one handed backhand is incompatible with the high speed of the game these days. Every single opponent hammers his backhand until Grigor “confesses”. Also, Tommy served and returned better than Grigor today. On top of that, Paul is more consistent. Grigor has too many ups and downs during decisive matches. It’s been like that his entire career. Super talented player but doesn’t have what it takes to win tournaments, I’m afraid. At least, that’s what we’ve been witnessing for the past 15 years. Cudos to Tommy and his team. With the win, he took Dimitrov’s 10th place on the run to the ATP Finals.
Tennis TV, get rid of this commentator; in fact, get rid of them all and save some money (although I doubt they're paid more than average wage) Silence is far better than any of them
It's not Tennis TV, it's Eurosport I believe or another official broadcaster. Tennis TV is only capturing the broadcast into a vid. Sue Barker up there with Robby Krieger. "Unbelievable! Get outta here. You GOT to be kidding me. Out of this WORLD!"
@@knotwilg3596 Ah I see, thanks for the clarification. Do you know the name of this female commentator; it's definitely not Sue Barker, but she's damned annoying and what's worse is a) someone employed her and b) Nobody has fired her (and all the others)
@@Summon256 There are three players above him with minor to moderate injuries. Good chance he will get in as alternate or possibly 8th seed if he plays well in Vienna.
Not many like to face Paul in form on that court. I hugely enjoy his game. Only thing I think what separates him from the absolute best is generating power of his own. Dimitrov has more power but on that faster and flatter court Paul’s style is likely to prevail.
Unfortunate he plays Tommy.. he would have won playing against any other .. Tommy is very good at defense at forehand side Dimi’s biggest advantage is naturalized much
@@Boymanjusri Dimi did beat him easy at 2024 US OPEN. Today he was exhausted from his very long and difficult semifinal...otherwise he will beat him day and night.
Tommy Paul is very different from the other serve and smack Americans on tour. Great feel, very good on both wings and can return at a very high level. Great match to watch. Very easy on the eyes
Dimi's one-hander (drive) is clearly not his best shot. In fact, he's used the slice backhand as his go-to shot for the past few years, to some effect, because it disrupts the rhythm that many in the top 20 have, and allows him time to move. What I noticed with Grigor's topspin-drive is that during a rally situation, the ball came back harder on that wing from Paul, setting up and/or winning the point for Tommy several times. That being said, if someone like "The Stanimal", or even another (more patient) Shapovalov were to come up the ranks using one hand on the backhand, who could say what the future would hold for that groundstroke?
He is ranked higher than Tiafoe and has been for quite some time but he gets almost no attention. Tiafoe gets so much attention because of his swagger and braggadocio and street cred. It’s baloney
Elegant, flamboyant, yet inconsistent. Underachiever judging by his results/skills ratio. Who am I talking about, Tommy or Grigor? Well, the answer is obvious. Both.
Paul was excellent. But Dimitrov seemed tired and mentally exhausted...is it age finally catching up mentally as well? The final hurdle just a bit too much to handle for Grigor...
