whomever recoded did excellent because if not that person, non of us would have chance to hear the best performance of this variations and I feel nothing but grateful so appreciate!!!!! Even of you take the highest technology and record Julliard or eastman, or any places like them, you will get high quality recoded crap, so I feel greatful that I have chance to hear this magnificent performance which otherwise would have been lost!!!

Profound music! My favourite Brahms, I like many performances of this piece and this one too is beautiful in its own way.

It is Sokolov who recommended Alexandra Dovgan for the Verbier appearance, where she played this same piece. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3xOVsLAAF0s.html

The recorder is so far from the piano that it makes the result painful.

Now I do not know what sounds painful in this amazing performance for you, it is obvious that person recorded from the audience and I am surprised about your comment, whomever recoded did excellent because if not that person, non of us would have chance to hear the best performance of this variations and I feel nothing but grateful so appreciate!!!!! L'interprétation de M. Sokolov semble en effet de grande qualité, même si on peut souhaiter encore davantage de poésie et de passion dans ces Variations. Seul regret, que la prise de son soit aussi médiocre.

Artistically, the best performance out there, especially from 21:30 to 23:30. Wow. But the technical competence of the recording engineer leaves much to be desired.
