Growing up on the farm in the 60s a d 70s, I had tough, overdone t-bones and mutton chops. Then I became an adult and the clouds parted and the Angels sang when I had my first mid rare, bone-in ribeye. I am born again

I've always liked making my ribeye on a cast iron skillet and throw in some garlic, thyme and butter to baste. How can I add that little extra flavor on a grill? Any tips? Btw....that stake left me drooling 🤤🤤🤤

DO NOT CLOSE YOUR GRILL WHEN COOKING STEAK!!! You want it to flare up. Let the flame touch the meat for a minute then rotate. Once it has a nice char, then you flip it. Thats when I add homemade garlic butter to it. Let it flare up. Don't be scared. Just keep the steak moving. Once that side has a nice char it will be a perfect medium rare every time. Brush a little of the butter on when you are done. The best steak I cook has salt, pepper and a little blackened seasoning. I just started cooking for real less than a year ago. I do not know how or why, but I'm legit on the grill. I've had multiple people tell me it was the best steak they ever had. Maybe I should make videos...

Thanks for the video but it would be better with more details. 1. What's the thickness of the steak in the video? 2. What's the temperature of the grill at the time of grilling? 3. What's the internal temp. of the steak when it's done in medium?

Been searching for a good video on ribeye steaks as I've never really cooked anything that thick before and I wanna make it right... so many videos that seemed... eeh. Tune to this video, immediately trust that face, immediately see delicious meal examples cooked to perfection and then the dude chilling by the grill with a beer in his hand: This dude knows his stuff. Watched it, got hungrier, subscribed - off I go to make one. Thanks for the video. Edit: Turned out great! Just the right type of medium. Could've been more generous with salt and pepper, but added some on the plate and worked good. Only one thing still confusing me; When the meat's supposed to rest after you take it off the grill, how do you keep it hot? I'd be tempted to eat it genuinely hot. Sure, it wasn't all cooled when I started eating but got cool fairly soon.

Thanks for the great feedback and happy your steak turned out great! The reason we rest the steak for a couple minutes (3 - 5) is to avoid losing the juices, which happens when you cut into the steak right away. A rested steak should be a juicier & tastier steak!

@Redmeatlover
@Redmeatlover 5 лет назад
Thx for the comment and great question.... We have not tried salting that long prior to cooking....might be a good taste test for an upcoming vid?!?! Do you notice any difference salting it that far in advance?
@ericgalyean9051
@ericgalyean9051 5 лет назад
I have only salted for about an hour before but couldn’t tell that much difference. Other RU-vid grillers suggest doing it the day before. Just curious. Thanks for sharing

To my taste that is overcooked. A little advice is if you see the juices coming out the steak has had too much. Its visible in your closeup at some point. Other than that great enthusiasm. Keep up the good videos
