For the fire place. I rhink you need a taller chimney to creat more draft... I had to mess with mine a bit to get a good draft... Taller is better... I did use my barrel stove to assist makeing my maple syrup this yr.... Now to find out how long to cook the cabbage on the grill.... lol 😂
We make that cobbler too, but we call it dump cake because you just dump it all in and butter the top, i know this sounds crazy but we put some vanilla ice cream with the cobbler in a bowl and drink a cup of coffee
It is but with an open porch im not sure if that is crucial, i know it is in a house because of pressure but it is above the roof. You can see in the first clip of video
Spring is sprung in full swing in Mississippi I see. We are close behind still having some cool nights. I see you found some Mississippi rocks . Talking about the Indian maiden debockale did here about Tyson foods ☹️
Howdy from South Central Texas. We love y'all's channels and are so happy to be subbed to both y'all's channels God bless and protect y'all's family and friends
I've cooked that recipe many times over the camp fire most of the time I will use a whole stick of butter rotate your lid and pot occasionally to even out your cooking its a good simple way to cook cobbler
We enjoyed the vid. Hub and I laughed when you said you were having baked potatoes and burnt chicken. 😂😂 Cracking us up! Man, yall tore that cobbler up. It looked so good. Only thing that would make it better was some vanilla ice cream on top. Im gonna have to try doing cabbage like that. Seen it many times but never done it. You have seriously got hub and i wanting to put a fireplace on our back patio. Thats gonna happen one day soon! Take care Peden fam. 😁
The chimney needs to be 2 ft. above the highest point of your roof. The chimney needs to be insulated so the smoke stays hot and rises. That is one of the reasons they use triple wall insulated stove pipe on a wood Buring stove.
I also think your fire box is too big letting too much cold air in, so the smoke doesn't stay hot enough to rise in the air. You have to keep that smoke hot.
I can’t hardly comment on the grounds that I may incriminate myself.!! Your videos are getting better and better and I’m coming to Mississippi.!! Goodwill with you and Michelle would make my year!
Matt from Celebrating Appalachia told me about y’all. Enjoyed this visit with ya so much. And that cobbler looked mighty tasty. I had no problem hearing you with the camera, etc. blessings.
Wondered if you’d ever made what we call silver turtles over a camp fire. Hamburger patty with slices of potatoes, carrots, celery and onions. Wrap it up and cook it over hot coals. Delicious! My sister in law started adding cabbage and broccoli to hers and that works well too. We made them when I was young in Girl Scouts but they have become a staple when camping
We call that a dump cake. Never thought of adding brown sugar but we’ll try that next time. You should have your viewers share campfire recipes during the Friday evening chats
Hey Justin! Here's a Belated St. Patrick's Day Joke for you! Pat & Mick were in need of some peat turves to keep their home fires burning. So they hitched up Pat's mule to Mick's wagon... and with one spade between them, headed down to the bog to cut some peat. Well... at the end of the day, they had a cart load of turf. On the way back home, they decided to stop off at the Pub for two or twelve before calling it a day. When they finished their elbow bending, they came back out of the Pub, Both were astonished to find that Pat's mule had been painted GREEN! Well.. Pat looked at Mick and Mick looked at Pat. "That's an insult I take from no man!", said Pat to Mick... as he took his jacket off and started rolling up his sleeves! Both of them went back into the Pub, and Pat shouted, "Which one of you Gormless Gobs painted me mule green?" A loud silence settled in over the room. It was finally broken by Seamus, who was sitting in the corner. "I did.", he said, as he stood up, and up, and up some more. By the time he was done standing, he was seven foot tall with some inches to spare AND he had a shilleagh in his hands that would do credit to Goliath! Well... Pat looked at Mick and Mick looked at Pat! Pat pulled down his hat down...tighter on his head. He marched directly up to Seamus... put his hands on his hips... looked up, and up, and up some more, so he could look him in the eye... and Pat said to him, "I just wanted to let you know... The First Coat Is Dry!"
Hey Justin another great episode thank you. I wondered if you could tell me and my family who wrote the beautiful music in this video? Thank you and God Bless you and your family!
I get it. In the family I grew up in, it was a sin to pay someone to do something you could do yourself. If you didn't know how, you found a way to learn how. But I just have to put it out there that that fire is a might close to where y'all live. I'm a slight bit older and have had to learn that I have to pay someone to do things that I can't do or don't want to do any longer. I haven't been struck by the wrath of the Lord just yet, but I may be condemned to a lesser neighborhood in heaven, and I'm okay with that. Considering what a fire is capable of doing in a very short period of time and the proximity to the things I care about the most, maybe an expert opinion is justified. There are people that build those things that know what they're doing and can draw out some plans or offer advice for some pottery or some other trade. Not my place to say, really, just felt the need to put it out there. No offense intended. 👨🚒❤
