1. This is totally amazing from a Warhammer nerd standpoint. 2. From an antiquer stand point this hurts my soul so much, those old quack boxes can be worth some serious money.
Continua a pubblicare video !!!
Foam is evil 😅. I moved to magnetic boxes when I started playing Warmachine few years ago. You save a lot of volume (I went from three boxes to one to store everything!!!) and the models stay on their feet without rubbing constantly against the foam
Man, I didn't even consider my rolling pin and miliput for walls... I always thought of them as for bases/floors. I wasn't thinking... *inside* the box...? I'll let myself out.
Thanks a million to you 😊!!! I really hope so; I love when a video becomes not only a source of technical information but also a spark of inspiration 😁
@@j453 For a big scale battle my favourite is Warmachine/Hordes because of the good tactic and the super balanced, competitive rulebook. I have a huge Khador collection (the whole line with 3-4 copies of each unit!), so big that I had to leave it in Italy when I moved to Ireland 😅 I love skirmish games and these days they are my first choice; I play Mordheim, Warcry, Killteam, Frostgrave, Rogue Stars, KoW Vanguard and few years ago I was really into Infinity and Malifaux. I like to be able to invest more time and quality in small warbands and play two or three games in the same evening
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Are you a fan of Marvel? They have a new skirmish game called Marvel Crisis Protocol. Would really cool to see your version of those minis. Though I would understand thats not to your liking
@@j453 I have been very very tempted by Crisis Protocol during Christmas 😁 I was undecided between that and the new edition of Batman's miniature game by Knight models (they have stunning new miniatures)... I resisted only because I don't know if there are players here in Dublin (I'm still exploring the new gaming community!). But I would love to paint superheroes models!!! I'm also waiting for Gamma Wolves to come out; I love the idea to use big custom mechas in a skirmish wargame
Please tell me you have video showcasing your Delaque Gang/Mechanicus conversions!! They are so awesome! Your Blanchitsu Tech Priest video is what hooked me on your channel. Absolutely beautiful work.
This is probably not something that I'll ever do, but wow! What an interesting video and such a cool idea. It looks excellent and something to be very proud of. Maybe a I will, maybe I'll start keeping my eyes open for interesting boxes. Thanks for sharing.
@@chrissteadman4614 there's some cool stuff in military memorabilia! You can look also for boxes for technical equipment like microscopes and lab accessories 😉
Amazing work!! Thanks for this video, and the ideas you provide. Really impressed about this box diorama! Definetely will try , when i have the skills for doing bases at least :)
That time when the old useless box turned into something more artistic and appealing to see, then my miserable attempts of painting. I will just sit here and cry till next Friday and your next video. ;) ps. special thumbup for sharing memorable artists, like Nicolas Grillet.
No... No it's not just you friend... I have a great love for all sorts of little wooden boxes and collect them too. I'm always keeping my eye out for them whenever I go out to browse the local charity/thrift shops, drives my partner mad :D You've done an awesome job on this diorama case ;)
What a cool project! I love small wooden boxes but I hadn't considered one big enough to make into a display/carry box! Your end result is fantastic. When my friend rolls out clay she uses two strips of wood either side to roll out an even thickness, I hope that might help cut down your rolling time! Thanks for the video and the inspiration - I just need to find a magical old box with tons of charm now :)
Mmm. I also have a box fetish. One of my favorite uses of boxes is people making custom cases for modular synthesizers, but this is probably my new favorite.
😁 It's awesome to know that I'm not the only one 😁 Woooo cool, I need to check them out! My dream is to have a proper space where to build my own custom designs
if you're having trouble getting flat pieces with the rolling pin you should look up a few videos on how people roll fondant for cakes, i use my old fondant tools a lot for rolling putty since most of the stuff is non stick anyway. you can also use wooden dowels to help get a uniform size :)
😍😍😍😍😍 I need to see a picture!!! I found an American grenade crate in my grandfather's attic (he was in the army) but I was able to save only the lid ☹️
Man, I've enjoyed this project a lot, and it really made me think about dioramas (which I've never done, and I've never had the interest to do either, honestly) but this looks functional, cool, and like a really nice adition to your warband. I'm always impressed with your videos Marco, but this one is up there for me, holy moly.
Thanks a million 😉😊😉!!! Yeah I feel the same, I like a little scene maybe on an enlarged base but in general I put much effort in the model itself and I don't want to "hide" it in a complex diorama. This kind of project has this functional/accessory side that adds a new perspective and it's easier to share with friends and games since is meant to be carried around
Happy Friday :) My models are magnetised; my models live in a shoe box for transportation......[hangs head in shame] The only addition to your wonderful video mate is I don't use tin on the bottom of my box I buy roll-able whiteboards :) very very simple magnetic plastic film; one side is a normal whiteboard, the other is covered with tacky glue so you can mount anywhere. I use this as no sharp edges and as easy to cut as thick paper. A 30cm x 40cm roll cost me 12.7CNY (1.7 EURO). Single terminator models with a 4mm magnet in the base don't move at all even if turned upside down. Works a treat :) So, now I need to find me a nice box........every week you add more and more things to my 'I need to try that' list! Thanks brother !!!
😂😂😂 noooo not a shoe box!!! Poor models 😅 Uuuu very very very interesting I need to try it; I have magnetic sheets but I never heard about rollable whiteboard!!!
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM "😂😂😂 noooo not a shoe box!!! Poor models 😅" - I already hung my head in shame now you've just added a guilt trip......:( :( :( Yeah, the whiteboards are fabulous, got them on Taobao (Chinese online shopping site) and they come in all sorts of sizes 30x40 is the smallest. They do 100 x 100 (about 12 euro) which I thinking of getting and then painting as a rough wasteland type feel to use as a portable battle mat for Kill Team so scenery can be magnetised in place and the models don't get bumped as easily
Never see this before ,very mysterious and fascinating idea, bravo Marco ! I used Ak interactive thin foam board to create wall, etc, very easy to sculpt into this material too,and you don't have to be worried about the regularity of the tickness ..😉
Nice box! I too, enjoy finely decorated boxes. I'm a little surprised you didn't make the front hatch magnetic and have a second surface to mount models on. Then you could have models already marching out when you open the box!
You really have to stop planting this amazing ideas in my head! No, serious! Stop it! I aint got spare time for my 'normal' hobby projects. Coming up with something wow like this blows my mind. Only a grim dark space wolve speedpaint could be better ;) - what should i say.... Again a piece of true inspiring art - presented in a charming and helpfull video. CHAPEAU!
@@diegosatta9393 😅 il tempo per l'hobby è sempre meno... Poi inizi a dipingere a tempo pieno e aumenta, poi apri un canale RU-vid e diminuisce di nuovo 😂
Complimenti Marco! I've not an addiction for wooden boxes but i think they're really in tresting and fascinating! Nice concept and nice paint job! Per curiosità... da che regione sei?
Absolutely great content this week. This is something many of us that follow Nicolas, Migsula etc for a long time have probably been too afraid to try but you make it look so easy! So inspiring! One small unrelated question, you use a lot of gifs and animations in your clips, did you make these or is there a resource you get them from? I'd be very interested in using them in some videos as it's a super effective communication technique. :)
Thanks a million!!! Yeah, it's very easy to be scared by the incredible quality and often the huge scale of their production but the concept can easily be adapted to any level of skill and you can use an infinite variety of approaches, materials and techniques. I make some of them if I really need something super specific but for the most part they come from giphy.com or a quick search on Google!
Marco, slightly off topic but I couldn't find the answer I. Your other videos. Where can I find the small metal circular dishes you use for mixing paint? I'm having really trouble finding them. Any help greatly appreciated! Oh, and another great video. Thank you!
Hi! Thanks a million 😊! The paint trays/wells come from companies like Tamiya, MrHobby, UStar, (now also AK Interactive has its own ak-interactive.com/product/modeling-paint-wells/ ). You can find them in any model shop or with better prices on eBay (sadly I still don't have a stable and safe link to share); my stash is a souvenir from Korea 😅
That's fantastic, thank you. I'll search for paint wells and keep my eyes peeled. That's is such a great looking model box, and puts my baking tray transport that I'll be using this weekend to shame! ♥️
@@chrisdanish84 Ebay is probably the best option; sometimes you can find them on Amazon but the prices are absolutely ridiculous... This is the perfect opportunity/excuse to make a box 😁 but I totally support every magnetic solution to transport miniatures!
So cool! I really want to make something like this for my Kill Teams. Any ideas for alternates for the medical instrument box? My Canis Infernum Nid bois need a fun display box...
Thanks! You can use everything as a base; on eBay you can find cool stuff like ammo boxes (offer already weathered by real use), cases for every possible technical instrument (from microscopes to rifles!)... And if you have the tools you can create a box tailored precisely on your needs! There's no limit
