SPOILERS AHEAD V V V V V Primordial world-gods are dying because when they live for too long they start to develop evil black holes inside of them. They don't know why. One of those primordial gods (the "planet" where Grime takes place) was pregnant when she died, and the vital energy intended for her Child malfunctioned and spread all over her body, creating living beings and civilizations, born from dead matter; all of them crazy because they instinctively know they are deformed abominations. Each of those civilizations seek to overcome their "old pain" (physical disconfort) through different means. The Yr seem to hunt down any new evil black hole. The cravers decided to mutate and eat everyone to satiate themselves a little (fun fact: they live in the stomach of the goddess), so they ate the Yr. The carven venerate any "perfect form" they see and mutilate themselves to pretend they are cured. The coda inherited the final memories of the world-goddess so they venerate and seek to be remembered through death. Shidra tries to protect these civilizations, despite they are slowly dying. You are a newborn black hole who has to decide if you will condemn these people in order to grow or have mercy on them. Meanwhile the Child of the goddess is alive and tries to materialize by possessing and killing these people to retrieve its energy, the energy that was meant for him/her. The secret boss is basically a nighmare of the Child about you, so you are actually easing his/her suffering.

A god of some kind died while pregnant, and the breathe that would've breathed life into the child remained and gave life to other things. It prolonged the life of the dead gods body and the childs consciousness of sorts. The living beings inside want to be as close to that god as possible, so they try to be as fleshy as possible, some refuse to let the world die, some embrace it. You are the end of the world that they know, you are meant to destroy it.
