Grimethorpe Colliery Band British Open Champions 1991 

This was my first British Open (as a spectator of course!)....what a day!......I live in Canada now but Ive seen many regional and National contests since and this for me is still in the top 3 performances i've seen on a contest stage......Just a wonderful performance!

I was there for that day. Sat at the back in the choir stalls - fab location in the Free Trade Hall. Just a steady procession of excellent bands rolling out before me. [Or was it me rolling back and forth to the Abercromby?] Seem to recall seeing Harry sitting off to the side of the stage. Wasn't this Harry's last Open? RIP.

Excellent. Grimethorpe 'own' this piece. As they did with 'The New Jerusalem' later. Untouchable. Bravo.
