GY & Clee were great places to grow up in the 80's - best years of our lives, but we left in 87. Does seem to have gone backwards but you can say that about most places now.
I've just found a great piece about Grimsby and when I was in my teens would catch the Lincolnshire road car bus to Grimsby from my home town of Louth . I use to love the journey going through the villages . Thank you Geoff Blanchard for posting this .
Great video thanks for sharing . I am Grimsby born and bred , lived away for a few years but came back as I missed the place too much . There are worse places to live . 1984 the year my first son was born ❤️ Still here in 2020
A great video, ironically I moved from Grimsby to York in about 1984, but Grimsby is my home town and I have great memories of growing up in the Town, a lot of thing have changed over the years some for the better and some for the worst but I’m still proud of my home town and the place I grew up in. Thank you for sharing you memories with us all.
Great footage of the area and across the bridge , you cannot beat a trip down memory lane . The young chaps will now be middle aged .Thanks for sharing ,I enjoyed the trip.
What an incredible video, so much has changed especially in the centre, also strange seeing cars going that way down Pasture Street and past the town hall as it is now one way the other way. And when the train goes past that train track is still there but it’s now a railway bridge as Peaks Parkway now runs below it. Also where you drive down Frederick Ward Way in the video that is now Freshney Place car park and the car park on the video to the left is now the road that you drive down. I could watch this for hours, great memories.
Thank you for sharing this video.I was18 and it was a different place for my age group to what it is now. Much more respect and better manners back then too.
So many memories. I always (wrongly) remember the road behind the Riverhead being wider than 2 lanes, The Trawl was my local and I still call the shop on Yarborough Road "Tates".
Geoff Blanchard A beautiful ilttle house and garden and the lady in blue reminded my gran. Thanks so much for sharing. I was 4 at the time of this video and lived on a river barge on Alexandra Docks! On the Mill side . The Shnapps barge was a pub on the opposite side where we went for Sunday dinners and my Birthday! Similar to the Barge in town, the latter is still going as a pub, the Shnapps barge is unfortunately under the water decaying and my busy dockside is now ejpty of boat livers. The Mill is flats though! :)
i used to work at that Tates as a schoolboy at that time. You can see a flash of a Honda C70 with a white topbox which belonged to Mark who worked there full time
My children were born in Grimsby. Lived there for more than 40 years. Go there 3, 4 or 5 days a week, so hugely enjoyed this memory evoking video, so thank you
Only 7.9k views! Feel like I've found a hidden gem right here, I would of been 3 or 4 back then, I just wanted to jump into the video and have a walk around. Also I'm your 100th subscriber! Great work Geoff. 👍🙏
Nice video, lots of memories there - interesting seeing the Castle Museum in York as we just went there yesterday for the first time in 20+ years - nice that some things don't change.
Geoff grate Year 1984 this was the Best days brings back memories, Like the Music to this video.. Simon subscribed to your channel.. The 80s.👍👍🙂🙂 Was this video filmed in Grimsby...
I was a little girl on the bully fell off the swings cracked my head open and I swear the man with a beard n camera was the guy how carried me to his house n waiting for the ambulance with my mum , lol brilliant thank you if it was, still got the scare lol
Although I have not been there as I live in Kent and am sadly disabled too, I do know where Grimsby is though; along with Cleethorpes and Immingham as well; as I have seen it on maps though. Parts of Lincolnshire of course; hopefully I guess the name Humberside has now been banished forever of course too. Should not really have been put with what is now the East Riding of Yorkshire at all somehow really! Thank you anyway.
@@glider1b Yes I know what you mean, Byron Grove is really rough now. I've got pics of my dad when he was a boy on VE day when they had a street party down Byron Grove.
