@@jsschneider4034No, the MTTD was just a testbed for a turret that was never meant to be mass produced. It was a private venture designed to test the viability of a low recoil gun with an autoloader with the technology and R&D the company had access to. The APS also wasn’t even developed, it’s just there as a mockup, as a vehicle of those capabilities was presumed to have one. No “fall into corruption” was involved because the South African government wasn’t involved in the project and there were no plans to produce it as an actual combat vehicle.

​​​@@KrisHandsomekinda, the TTD was the recently sanction lifted SADF showing what it could do now that it had access to the international military market in a bid to secure more government funding now that the military and nation was no longer fighting a war, the government of the time took one look at the budget and said that South Africa isn't going to war anytime soon so such weapons aren't needed right now and spent the money building infrastructure in places previously abandoned by the government as they where considered non white areas by the previous government. The military still wanted to upgrade their MBT and in the early 2000's this was granted by upgrading the MBT Olifant to the Mk 2b standard it still is at today. Project hoefyster was the one crippled and then ended due to the aftermath of corruption run rampant at denel land systems. Now the government is instead of buying brand new vehicles going to upgrade the almost 40'ish years old rattle systems.
