Josh: "I would use this over the MJJC Foam Cannon Pro". That didn't age well once you got access to wholesale the MJJCs... Your channel is growing quickly and you're putting out great content. We all understand you need to make money, but please don't sell out completely as you get bigger. All the Maxshine videos are cringe enough as it is, but I realize you have to do them as part of product placement.
People with the active 2.0. Just remember you need to be using a 1.25 orifice. He said for electrics to be using a 1.1 but Active says that will burn out the motor faster, and it also will raise the amp rating above 15 amps.
The head does turn to change the angle. Once you fully turn it and hit resistance keep turning and the angle will change. Then MJJC is great and if you have version 2 it has the same double thread top for smaller soap bottles. It seems they share the exact same top just different colors. Nice Video.
Not gonna lie first cannon I bought was the green works cannon from Lowe’s 😣. Wanted to upgrade to the MJJC Pro but didn’t want to wait 3-4 weeks to get it. So I bought this one and almost lost my mind 🤯 when it came out as soapy water initially 🤬 but after about 10 seconds it started slinging that thick foam everyone wants. Gotta say I’m happy with this cannon.
The metering feature on the Griot's Boss is the reason I decided to buy it. There are lots of foam cannon's out there that make good foam, but the Boss is in a different league with metering.
Same here. I wash once a week. Maybe twice so I just screw onto my Mr. Pink bottle and call it a day. Then use the bottle to rinse out with clean water.
Josh your videos are awesome and your reviews are some of the best ones I have watched. One thing, your links in your descriptions really need to be updated! That is all. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Great review! I would be curious to see your thoughts on the metering system more in depth. Test out all three tips with their respective pressure washers and such.
Just used this foam cannon with Mr. Pink and poured very little soap in the bottle. Used it straight and it uses very little soap, produced very solid foam, and I have hard water. Thanks for the helpful review Josh. I was able to get it for almost the same price as the mjjc , and that metering tip makes it hands down a winner.
Lafferty have been using metering tips in their foam cannon before griot. The adjustment knob at the top cancels out the dilution ratio of metering tip. I believe the metering tip goes between the cap and pickup tube
I have to say,, I really enjoy your videos, and have purchased a couple of the items you have recommended. Keep up the good work, wish you were in Minnesota so I could use your professional cleaning services. because the ones we have here really really suck.
I got the mjjc pro 2.0 today and I'm excited to text it out tomorrow. I already got it set up with the 1.1mm hole like you recommend. Next upgrade is a new pressure washer hose.
Great product! I like not having to deal with mixing ratios. Seems like you'll get the same output everytime just by keep the cannon full with soap. Thanks for putting us on
Great video! Thank you. For what it’s worth, perhaps use a different color vehicle when testing foam cannons or even other products. One would be able to see the foam better on a different color vehicle rather than on white. Just a thought.
Hey brom i teflon taped mine. Though technically that coating is on the threads, I got spryed probably just like you did. After taping it, no problems lol. Nothing ever works exactly as inteded lol.
Hey man, love your vids, can you do a in depth video on how to set up a foam cannon, as far as how much soap to use, how much water to use, etc. I got into detailing my own car but i never seem to get the foam results I’m looking for. Thanks!
Hey Josh I just seen a RU-vid video where they got a massive amount of foam suds. Would be cool to see if it works in a video. The RU-vidr just filled the bottle up with just soap. Would cost to much in liquid but fun once in a while.
Does this have side markings on the bottle? I was just about to buy the MJJC Pro until I saw this video. Now I’m stuck trying to decide between the two.
This foam cannon is like 2-3 years old right? the new one that just came out from Griot was the "BRILLIANT FINISH™ FOAM CANNON". Have you tried both versions?
I was also thinking about that. Looking at my MJJC they probably won't fit because the pickup weight, at least on mine, has a built in screen / filter so there's really no room to insert them. I'd love to try them out, maybe make some sort of inline adapter or something but they cost 6.00 bucks apiece for the colors as it looks like they don't sell a mixed color set. I was going to order the purple and aqua ones to mess around with but GG wants an insane $10.99 just in shipping on top of the 12.00 bucks for the inserts. If I knew the hole sizes in them, I could make them.
The metering tips work well, but they aren't proprietary to Griot's. You can probably jam them into the MJJC hose. Also you can just buy a large bag of metering tips in different sizes. They are pretty common in the cleaning industry.
Hi Josh, I hope all is well. I have a question: I recently bought a griots garage the boss foam canon and planning to use it on an active 2.3 pressure washer with mtm sgs35 gun. I want to keep it below 15 amps; how should i go about it in terms of orifice size and other factors producing great foam output? Im new to this so dont mind me asking a stupid question. Thanks Please note I havent opened the the boss foam canon and can return it and instead go for mjjc, please let me know if mjjc is better than the boss to use with active 2.3?
Good morning Josh, I purchased the Griots Garage foam cannon per your recommendation. In addition, I purchased the DeWalt 2100 pressure washer that you reviewed as well and gave high marks on the gun. However, what I'm looking for is the quick connect to connect the gun and the griotes foam cannon. I believe it's an m22 to a 14 quick connect. Can I buy that from you???? Thank you
Hi, the quick connect on the foam cannon is a 1/4 and the nozzle on the pressure washer should be the same. you shoucl just be able to remove the nozzle on the pressure washer gun and put the foam cannon on!
Curious if the Griots metering orifice will fit in the MJJC pickup tube marble and work the same with non-diluted product. Griots sells those little orifice tips separately on their website. The MJJC Pro lid also has the dual threads molded in, so it will also thread straight onto product bottles.
I tried, but the ball on the MJJC just doesn't allow it. My next test will be to put the metering tip at the top of the tube near the manifold so the MJJC ball still does its job. I just have not gotten around to it since I got the Brilliant finish foam cannon from griots and it does everything The Boss does for half the price. MJJC has been collecting dust since. LOL
@@cue03 The brilliant finish foam cannon has the exact same tube and ball. The metering tips fit and mix perfectly. Just dropped a video today showing it. Pickup tube should fit as the Boss and MJJC are the exact same top. I just checked and it fits not sure if the manifold on the MJJC can mix as good, but will try it out.
@@CarsWithKeav awesome work. Lets see how it does on the mjjc. If it works there then you have the best all around. Sure it will be a little heavier but the bottle has measurements, you can change the orientation of the spray, swapping orifices are super easy and it already has a killer foaming capability. Throw in a now mix with metering and the search is over until MTM comes out with their next unit. Lol.
I just bought this Foam Cannon. Can I leave soap in the resevior when I'm done with a car wash or can I leave it in there until I decide to wash my car again? I just want to make sure that I don't damage my foam cannon
Have you ever tested the various plastic metering pieces that go into the bottom of the weighted ball on the pickup tube to see if they are actually any more or less effective than not using one at all? Would be curious to see if they actually save on product or if its better to self mix. Thanks
Hey Josh, first off I love your videos and the information you disseminate here on the channel. I am a DYI'er and you have made the learning process absolutely easy. Ever since I started the journey into auto detailing I have struggled with my foam cannon, particularly with the amount of foam it produces. I have tried several dilution methods and I have changed the 1.2 orifice to a 1.1 orifice and I still struggle to achieve that thick rich foam we all have come to know and love. I currently have an iPower 2700 PSI Gas Pressure Washer outputting 2.3 GPM, but yet I am unable to get anything remotely close to what your 1600 PSI RYOBI is producing in each of your videos. In a fit of frustration, I have opted to try the Griots metering tips as a last-ditch effort to achieve the desired results, but until they arrive I want to ask this question. Is it of any consequence that I am using the 1.1 orifice in my foam cannon with my 2700 PSI Gas Pressure Washer? As always keep up the good work that you continue to do on the channel. Hopefully my synopsis of the issue I am facing was not too lengthy.
@@michesbianan yea I found that out the hard way lol. I'm currently using the MATCEE foam cannon, with forced me to use 3oz. instead of 2oz. of Mr. Pink BUTTTT! I'm able to get 2 inches of snow here in Jamaica, whenever I use 2oz. of CG Sticky Snow Ball lol! I'm definitely getting the MJJC Foam Cannon Pro 2.0 later this month, that way I can use less product, and get more foam. Thanks for replying to my comment I can see you're super busy, and keep putting out good content because it helps people like myself who are just getting into detailing.
It’s a great foam cannon for sure but I don’t think it’s made in the USA. Griots is an American company and make their chemicals here but I’m pretty sure this is from overseas
I miss ordered that McKillans Short Pressure Washer Gun.. I wanted the one with the swivel intake like the one you recommended I didn't look close enough when I place the order on Amazon and I mistakenly ordered the other model which kind of irritated me. I reached out to them to see if they have that swivel attachment. I could just buy separately.
Yea all the manufacturers recommend running clean water through it before storing! But is a small mesh filter that gets clogged and you can buy replacements if needed 👍
Do u still have to use a wash mitt or do u let soap soak then rinse ? I suppose u could do either I'm just wondering cuz I'm thinking about getting one
Would the metering jets for non dilute soap work on the pick up hoses of another cannon? IOW, could i buy these meter jets from Griot and then just connect them to my harbor freight foam cannon? Appears that the metal ball is just a method to ensure the pickup tube remains at the very bottom. Love your videos BTW. Have learned a ton.
Can you buy just the ball and insert and use it on the Brilliant Finish or even the MJCC and get the same result? Of course if you have none of them buy the Boss but if you already own one that has a similar size tube and ball could you just get the ball and insert from the Boss and use it within your existing foam cannon?
Griots sells the metering tips separately. They also sell a repair kit with the silicone pickup tube. But I haven’t found where they sell the ball weight that goes on the end of the silicone tube that the metering tip fits in.
Does anyone know what dilution rate each tip produces? Seems like they would be fine with soaps with standard dilution rates, but Koch Chemie like gentle snow foam are about 1/5 dilution of others 15ml vs 2.5oz to 1000ml water.
I have a Trinova . I have a BlueClean elec. washer which seems to have lost some pressure. Now the Trinova will not foam at all, even after I cleaned it . What needle can I change to , to get foam with reduced pressure ?
If you pre-mix a 5-gallon bucket of wash solution, you can put a hand pump on it and fill your spray bottles directly from that. So the metering valve on the Griot's doesn't matter that much ---- and it's a lot more expensive than your original favorite gun!
I ordered one of those from Griot's MONTHS ago and still haven't gotten it. I email Griot's about where the heck my BOSS foam cannon is........They can't tell me when the heck i'll get one. Another thing I ordered was all the refill bottles for the metering tips........NOPE.......haven't gotten them either. MONTHS....MONTHS.......MONTHS
Does the MJJC Foam Cannon Pro have the smaller threads inside the larger threads like the Griot's Boss cannon to allow for smaller bottles to be attached directly? I saw that they do have a similar pick up tube so I wonder if the metering tips would work inside it? If you could do that with the MJJC Pro that would be awesome.
You really didn't test the unique thing on this gun - the metering. Try the different plastics tips with full strength soap - use a small diameter bottle and record the amount of product uses for a set time period.
You can auto-meter with any soap as long as it's not the thick type of soap. Those ones don't work that well. But stuff like Adam's Mega Foam, Ethos Foam Party, Mr. Pink, Auto Fanatic 007 Snow Storm, MTM Perfoamance, etc. work beautifully.
In the test I use a active ve51 but I get the same results with a ryobi 1600 1.2gpm Here’s the link to buy it from my site! dtlrsupply.com/products/pro-max-foam-cannon-dtlr-supply
Josh i decided to buy this foam cannon. I have a question tho, would you recommend that I go with the 1.1 ora face they provided I plan on using it with a gas powered pressure washer the dewalt 3300 psi 2.4 gpm I would appreciate your feedback
Hey Enzo you should be fine with the standard 1.25 but if you want even more foam switch it to the 1.1. Just test it out and make sure of not putting too much load on the pressure washer
HELP! My pressure washer started surging when I switched to the 1.1mm orifice. I've also noticed that it surges whenever I switched to the 25deg nozzle but works fine with the 15deg/40deg nozzle. My pressure washer went back to normal after I switched to the stock orifice on my foam cannon.
What pressure washer is it? The smaller orifice creates more of a draw on the motor and can cause it to do that. The 1.1 might not be an option for your pressure washer… that’s the first time I’ve heard of that happening from the 1.1 orifice though
@@imjoshv I'm using a Stanley 1595 PSI 1400W Electric washer. It's just a $99 so I'm thinking of upgrading to another pressure washer, for now I'll have to stick to the normal pressure washer. Thanks for the reply!
Wouldn’t be surprised if the red gunk on the quick connect threads was dried old red thread locker. I’ll leave it up to you to speculate how it got there.
Haha… best one I’ve found is the mjjc pro. I feel like that one actually does perform substantially better than the rest. Other than that, cheap and upgrading the orifice is a great option
