I like to grip switch like that and continue the momentum by rolling the sabre over the back of the hand the way you did with your staff in your outro. I tend to favour the finger spin switch because it adds an extra dynamic to the visuals and it is also nearly impossible to do the switch you demonstrate in this video with nunchaku or poi. I think the most awesome thing about your videos is how you are just casually doing stuff with a tool as you are doing your outro, with such effortlessness. Also that sequence you do with the staff, the toss from the one hand to the other and back again, have you done that with a sabre? It is something I have been working on and it's quite a bit trickier because of the nature of sabres. Thanks for continuing to encourage me to train with your videos, even when health stuff is interfering.

Nice and super clear one skill tutorial. Great teaching chops showing. Great for juggling and flow and stunts work, maybe even sport. In an actual combative situation I hear old teacher voice drilling in always at least one hand on so a tap from opponent doesn’t disarm. But in reality- when is that really happening in real life anymore? Love your flow work so awesome, amazing the work you put in and how you combine all the amazing moves into an impossible looking set.

Do your switch behind your leading weapon and your opponent has to come past your offensive line to attempt the disarm which would put you in advantageous position, especially with your other weapon now in an unorthodox grip. It's also a great feint as the hand is quicker than the eye and the fastest of the true times. The eye is drawn to movement and a grip switch with a second weapon can draw the eye from the lead weapon for the split second you need to get inside their defenses.

Sending it back it’s almost impossible without using a finger to absolutely LOCK IT in the horizontal plane. It tends to go into the diagonal plane.

Try doing that style of grip switch in a close contact fight with a Japanese sword and you will find out why the finger method is superior because swords aren’t really meant for spinning and in actual combat you don’t necessarily have room or momentum to be spinning the blade, the actual Star Wars fight choreography is so lame, flashy spinning behind the back and spinning 360 degrees leaving them open to attack not realistic for an average human let alone a ‘Jedi’.
