Every summer, many tourists try to escape the heat by visiting the Georgia Mountains. One popular spot is Nora Mill Granary, a 140-year-old grist mill that still grinds corn into grits. The Monitor’s Kenny Burgamy shares their story.
It no longer uses the water power. I talked to Tommuy Martin he said the water turnine is just show. He showed me the Electric motor upstairs. Still a great place to go.
Every farmer near the mill drop their grain to the historic mill? I’m very fascinated how the grist mill are in function today 🙂 sorry for my english,I’m French from Québec
I working in Helen for eight years. I drive past this building twice a day everyday. For eight years I never been inside this store. There is very difficult parking for tourists.
I ordered white grits( 2lb), for starters; and a pkg of sweet potato pancake muffin mix. They'll be here in Maine soon. Very hard to find good grits up here. Damn yankees!
