For the Grist deck I have found Vile Entomber can actually be a really good pseudo Academy Rector like effect especially if you include some flashback effects. Ie Cabal Therapy and Dread Return.
Wouldn’t you have had the win if you used Claim the Firstborn on Codie? It would untap codie and you could use your floating mana to reactivate it and cast Bring to Light.
I’m pretty sure if mons would’ve claim the firstborn his codie he could’ve activated it with the remaining 4 mana getting wubrg again casting bring to light
7:37 not sure if Mons is saying Hermit Druid should come in tapped is a joke because he missed the effect, or if he really thought it should come in tapped?
It is actually a OBS virtual cam and Moxfield playtest trick. I made a video about it here is a link if your intreasted: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3xYR639ZwDo.html
SickRobot played it better.... A small little joke, referring your video about Sisay and Tier I Con, I do love your playstyle and skills. Btw, The Krark player wrote a tournament report about Tier I Con on r/cEDH. He's getting all the praise he derserves.
8:25. Slight mistake. Codie is in play on ur board mons. Codie doesn't let u cast permanents. Either way it doesn't matter too much bc of the root maze, just something I wanted to mention
What program are you using mons? If it's a program that can let you shuffle, search, have a hand, etc and all you have to do is explain what you're doing to your opponents, that seems like a great way to play EDH online

Why didnt you target codie with the claim the first born, you could have untapped it, used the WUBG still floating to activate codie again making WUBRG and then youre golden
@@nettlesomereflexion yeah, regardless of rootmaze or not the second codie cascade was more valuable than potentially exiling the top card with ragavan. Huge chance of hitting a tutor or removal or one of the many sacrifice codie cards allowing the casting of permanents.
Hey mons, with the claim u always target the book, i play tested this deck to master it i can help u with tips for u, i see missplays because u no dont play so much the deck
I would imagine this is why he is playing codie. Before I spent a large amount of time playing codie I was worried about vsing it. But after understanding its strengths and weaknesses I think blue farm is just better.
The deck its so explosive can secure win so early anda thats its scary, I prefer codie because u have so many tutors for naus and that its consistan than a blue farm, i know its more easy to interrup codie, BUT u have to know the initial hand its ur way to win u always need backup in form of counterspell and removal. Its so easy to sculpt ur hand
@@leonardobasualdo9253 it's a more consistent early naus than blue farm. But blue farm is the more consistent deck overall, if codie doesn't resolve the initial naus it flounders honestly. And the big reason codie decks win so early is because not enough people recognise what the deck does and how threatening early it is, players keep hands that can't interact and just give the game over to them, that won't last as more and more people experience the deck people will learn the hands you need to keep against codie decks and their win% will crash
You said you would've won if root maze wasn't there. Playing the claim the first born on Codie would've won you the game on that turn even through the rootmaze.
