Glad to see lots of folks here recognizing Chris Bear's drumming. I love the contributions of all four members, but he is truly a distinctive propellant force that pulls it all together. A touch of avant-garde nuance and lots of unique, playful rhythm.
@@BrianJohnstonTrombone that's terrible, Lennon himself said his voice and Paul's sucked but Ringo couldnt lead any better and George passed focused on the fast chords. He was known to repeat that he wished they had as lead singer, get a hold of it: Smokey Robinson for their kind of songs to be where they wished and needed to bring their music to the very tops, and that if Smokey agreed they would do just the backing vocals forever. Imagine that, "Smokey Robinson & the Beatles". NO BS, and Lennon would have agreed, same as Paul. Much wiser than adding Yoko to the line up...
This song is so damn good! No guitar, great understated drumming, singers' voices fit the smoothness of the piano right, interesting movement keeps you in. One of the best songs I've heard in a while. Now tied with Blue Ridge Mountains by Fleet Foxes in my book as the two best songs out right now. And these guys did it with a live performance!
This has been such a special song to me for over 7 years. I think it's safe to say Two Weeks is definitely one of my all time favorite tunes ever. It's perfection and makes my insides feel warm n fuzzy :D
I played this and my son was about 8 months and when it was finished he sighed like he was upset it was finished and I played it again and he smiled, he's 4 now and he asks me to play this most nights before he sleeps.
@@isaacfisher2482 I’d be extremely surprised if this was true. Most bands start playing at small venues and this is their most week known song , highly doubt their first time playing it was at Letterman’s
I was in the audience for this song! It was even more amazing live! I can't wait for the studio version. I hope they keep it very similar sounding to this amazing live version.
@@TheHallOfTally The album version is excellent, but nothing compares to the feeling of hearing something completely new for the first time and loving it instantly. What a memory!
Going back and watching some of these performances, I learned that Dave was very influential in growing the success of some of the great indie bands and other genre based musicians of my childhood and so many others. Thank you Mr. Letterman.
I love this performance! The lead singer's stage vibe and even his appearance reminds me of Sameer Gahdia (spelling?) from Young the Giant, which is another great indie band that's kind of like these guys. Oh, you indie heartthrobs
I found my Dad died from suicide while I had this song playing through my headphones.. luckily it’s one of my favorite songs but while I listen to it I can’t help but think of my Dad.
I love how every member of Grizzly Bear is multi-talented. It seems like every live video I watch, they're playing different instruments. And they all have angelic voices. lol. An amazing band, no doubt about it.
Ughh, I love them. Wow. This is so stunningly beautiful. Kiddos to you guys. Keep doing your thing. Wow, god. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ His voice... The instrumentation... We need this.
that extra keyboard part is great. makes me sad that it's not as prominent on the album version. very good performance. Ed's vocals are wonderful as usual..
There's a split moment at around the 2:00 mark where they are juuuuust about to start pulling the tempo, and correct themselves, as a band, in that single beat, and it's just fucking insaaaane! As a drummer, we can sometimes find our bodies naturally stop ourselves from rushing the beat, and it's just so damn pro to see the whole band do it! This is a really tricky tempo to sustain for a whole song too!
Oh wow I really couldn’t even hear it until after I listened to that section like 4 or 5 times, good catch. Did you feel like the keyboard was somewhat causing that? Not to blame him specifically, just something I noticed.
'Grizzled Bear'. I am not trying to be a grammar nazi, just thought it was funny. And yes, they are amazing!!! I would recommend their song called Gun-Shy.
yeh, no doubt. this tracks got a very pet sounds vibe to it, the thing I find notable about this track is the crazy syncopated drumming and arpeggiated keyboard parts.
