Grizzly Kodiak & Sportsman Conquer 7 Mile Road From Minnehaha To Gold Rock

Out with some friends and their Polaris Sportsman 400, to check out the trail to Minnehaha. This is where the boats would come from Wabigoon and dock at Boudreaus's Landing. The people and cargo would then be transported to the gold mines at Gold Rock by land from there. Quite the place in it's day I hear!
This was quite a short trail so we then thought we would just "check" the trail from there to Gold Rock which was formerly known as the "7 mile road".
You weren't supposed to be able to go up this road because of damage caused by beaver flooding, but the first part looked pretty good, so we carried on.
About half ways in, the trail definitely turned into quite a challenge and work-out!! There were a couple of detours around the flooded areas which turned out to be quite the ride!! Took about 4.5 hours to go 7 miles.
But, I guess we made it. This just in....you can go to Gold Rock that way. Well at least at this time of the year. Might have been impossible when it was wet.
We actually were back exploring around the mine areas this past weekend, watch for an upcoming video on that in the near future!

I looked up goldrock on google and read that there we many original buildings and an old graveyard hidden in the woods, did you guys by chance see any of them? I wondered if the article was written long ago and maybe the buildings are gone or no longer accessible? Either way it looks like an awesome adventure just knowing the history alone

Since you have a rancher 350, and zilla tires, I was wondering if you think it would be a back idea to put 26inch tires on a 350 rancher. What would you recommend?
@1992Hoffman

Hey man love your vids! I recently bought an Magellan Explorist 500LE gps... I'm having some problems getting started with it and was wondering how yours is set up to the specific trails? Did you buy a map or did you record your track log? Thanks man, keep up the vids !
@cubbeezx
@cubbeezx 10 лет назад
Hi there, glad you enjoy the vids and thanks for watching. We've only ever used Garmin GPS' so I don't know anything about the Megellan product. We have the Garmin topo maps and we use a product called Backroad maps as well as the free Ibycus maps. We also have the local logging roads from a couple of years ago. We also don't erase our tracks so as we explore, they are kept on the GPS...amazing how many times we "get close" to one of our old tracks! Hope that helps a bit and good luck!

what type of mount do you use for your garmin, Thanks
@cubbeezx

We use a RAM mount to hold the Garmin. They make a specific cradle to hold the 62S, and then we use an arm with a ball mount. Works great!

I don't understand why when people use a chain saw to trim downed trees they don't cut a wide openingso you don't risk hitting the stub ends or even getting hurt trying to go through in between where they cut. Nice trail riding mind you .... just saying !
