That's interesting. Yes. he decided to stay past the time he normally would have left; as food was running scarce, the bears were much more likely to see a human as food. There's another reason too. Most of the bears he knew (which might not have attacked him) had already gone into hibernation. Strange, more aggressive bears that were hungry took their place. The bear that attacked Timothy did not know him. It likely was already stalking him while he made that last video, and that is what Timothy seemed to sense and made him keep looking back over his shoulder. He knew he was going to be a bear's meal and he was already at peace with it.

No one can possibly measure the impact he had on making people more positive towards bears, seeing them less as enemies and hence more likely to support their conservation. Maybe it was none, maybe it was incredibly important. I mean, we are all sitting here discussing the importance of protecting bears because of him. At the end of the day, this guy was just looking to bring some joy into the miserable world of his illness. His commune with the bears provided that and he wanted to share his love for them with the world. There is nothing contrived about him, he is genuinely trying to brighten his and our worlds. It doesn’t feel right to criticise people like that too harshly.

I've watched this one documentary on Everert about some night in like 2008 where around 15-20 people died. They're interviewing a guy who was there and survived, a guy now without a nose or fingers or toes, and he talked about what he a moron he felt like while he was stuck outside all night on the top of Everest. Also seen another interview of some guy who jumped off the Golden Gate and survived about how he instantly regretted his decision. I doubt Treadwell's reaction to his impending doom was any different.The biological drive to survive ends up surpassing the stupid constructs you've built in your mind when your life is on the line.

I heard it. I was trying to figure out what method they were defending themselves. You can hear the hard rain and because he wore a remote microphone you could hear the bear's snorts and grunts clearly. Very sad. It sounded like a horror movie!

Some horses will attack. Our horse attacked me twice when i was 10 years old. I was able to escape through the corral. I beat him with a shovel while he was chained to a log with a strong halter. He was a good horse after that.
