Been playing Airship Escort almost exclusively. It's a fun mode, and brings old ships to life again. Haven't had this much fun in Des Moines in ages. Hope they keep the mode around.

I never thought I'd see a convincing use case for the GK leg mod but this is definitely a good one.

My personal favorite GK build is secondary range mod and skill for 12.5km secondaries and then throw everything else into survival and reload. You impersonate a full brawling build so enemies try to stay away from you and consequently hang out in your most effective main gun range. It does awesome in ranked but I haven’t played randoms in a couple years so no promises in the potato fiesta.

Just got the GK a few days ago. Still learning how to use her and this video was quite helpful.

Imagine an escort/arms race combo game mode? The teams would need to balance time between going after buffs or pushing the payload.

Not bored of airship escort at all, I play almost exclusively AE nowdays since it's so fun and brawling BBs are so good.

PQ, please try a hybrid/secondary Shikishima with AR, close quarters and realod mod. You get a sub 20 second reload on Shikishima guns, it's super good in Airship Escort.

That's the captain build i use on my Massachusetts. Since changing from the 'meta'/'standard' build... everything has increased. The extra damage output just owns vs everything. Its a huge night and day difference. Everyone sleeps on IFHE but the extra pen vs the fire chance is not a good argument. On 5% chance secondaries. Everyone uses their Damage Con and fire goes out anyway. The damage you gain makes up the difference especially in penetration. I went to training room and loaded up bunches of T6 ships-T10 ships (they dont use damage con) and after like 5 hours of dilly dally around, the IFHE always outperformed with raw damage output vs fire starting/burn damage. And that's without damage con. Factor in PCs use damage con and fire damage is cut in half probably? Plus even with IFHE you still do start fires. It was like this with my Bismarck, Massachusetts, and Flandre. With Flandre those 100mm guns actually do damage at 21mm of pen so...HUGE for them. And FYI...yall should really look at the numbers for Adrenaline Rush...on a DD..its almost useless.

I use Günther Lütjens on mi Preusen so i dont need high HE, use different commender for Schlieffen.

All the high tier German BB’s are good brawlers it seems. I love playing Bismarck and tirpitz in escort, and ofc GK. Schle isn’t bad either. I’ve gotten decent with Tirpitz, I’ve been able to go face to face with a Schlie and Conqueror and still win, mainly thanks for the secondaries and the torps.

Airship is definitely a success. Hopefully they build on it.

GK main guns are pretty good tbh, good pen characteristics and ballistics. Range and accuracy are the drawbacks but you get 12 guns on a decent reload for it. Do lack overmatch but still a solid gun BB overall.

Prob with the ship is reputed to have really inacurate main guns on a full secondary build so HE spammers target the GK with little fear of getting shot back unless very close. The ship can shine in games without CV (and when able to play 1 on 1 or v 2 ships well), but with a CV if the CV focuses it down you are going to have a really bad game.

Would you recommend this for beginners or should I get something else instead?

Genuine question, how do you get that Birds Eye view with your spotter plane? I used to Untill one of the patches undid it, anyone know what settings I have to mess with to re enable it?

Preussen is still my fav. Fast reloading 457s just create so many opportunities to slap things when you're pushing in to island cover. Granted, you'll need a lot of opportunities, given the accuracy of those, but still pretty good IMO.

Tried the same. BUT. I got blasted by a balao. Subs are really hard to deal with in this game mode bro.

Airship escort, and brawls is the only thing bringing me back to WOW. Hate randoms, and Ranked is too frustrating to be worth the play. Hopefully this stays out for awhile. Once this gets shuffled into randoms I expect to be off till another fun mode comes back. Like that apocalypse mode with all DDs and crazy fast torps. 🤪 wish that would come back

Surely if it requires a specific game mode then it can hardly be called a 'great' ship. What does that make the BBs that can do well in pretty much every mode? Fantastic? ;-P

I do not understand. At 0:25 you said the G. Kurfurst has small caliber guns. It has (4 x 3) 406mm guns. For me in a BB a "small" caliber would be 355mm or less. The American BBs in WW2 had 406mm or 16" guns. Only the Yamato and the Mushashi had larger guns. I have learned in a gun fight, "you can not miss fast enough to win" (Jeff Cooper). So you MUST balance speed and accuracy, you are limited by your choice of power of the gun you carry. If I could trade something for accuracy . . . . . . . I would!

Isnt the Preussen not just a better GK? I dont get why everyone is playing GK and not Preussen

Why not playing with the 406mm, i loved the reaload speed. I only remember they ve a bit less alpha damage. The Pan was nearly the same.

I will never not be annoyed by the notion that 406mm guns are small caliber. 406mm is the standard T10 BB shell. 431mm to 457mm guns for all their benefit only really serve to ruin the game for Cruisers, while not adding anything beneficial to the game, and its safe to say outside of Repub getting them seeing as on Repub that's her gimmick, they were a mistake, that heavily contributed to the long range passive meta. 380mm guns at T10 are small caliber. 406mm are average, 431mm+ are large.

At last brawling ships can do good things with this mod. Otherwise HE meta win easily from far range....
