When I was camping one of my buddies switched from rope to bungee to hold his rain tarp. It was on poles so he could drive his car under it with bungees going two directions to hold everything upright. Even in a 60 mph wind with the poles flat on the ground, it sprung right back to life when the wind stopped. He was using marine grade bungee from a boating store, which seems to be a considerable step up from hardware store bungee. Also if you are going to be untying the loop on your rope, a figure-8 loop knot is 10x easier to untie than an overhand loop.
Accidentally ordered shade cloth without the grommets .. grrr ... but i new there was a way to do it. Like the bottle cap idea for my needs! Thank you!
Chris we must be brothers! I take the new tarp and tie the corner into knot then loop the rope around it. Its stronger before the tarp seam rope breaks.
hi Chris, love the vids, - thought I'd share my own tip though for the same problem - I stitch a tent peg (right angled to the rope) through the area and tie to midpoint of that, it spreads the load very well, keeps it flat!!
The obvious answer to your question should be; "A Boy Scout". Or any other random dude that is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
