Come meet Bentley, a Scottish Terrier (better known as a Scottie Dog) who has graciously agreed to let us film him being groomed. Beware, you just may fall in love! I know we did! Bentley gets a pet trim that keeps him clean and manageable. Let's see how he does!

Bentley is EXTREMELY well-behaved for a Scottie! I've had Scoots my whole life and while I'm extremely attached to the breed, I am aware that they are not without their unique challenges!

Hi Jen, well, you are clearly knowledgeable on the subject! My and Bentley's path has not been an easy one at first, to be honest! His parents and I had to get together and strategize how to train Bentley to accept grooming when he was a puppy (he used to thrash into my clippers, try to bite my scissors, and much more)! I'm glad we have both matured and get through the grooming without too much drama, lol! But I agree, I love the breed - they are very special indeed! I wouldn't change a thing. I have Scottie and he is fine with whatever I do. I break up grooming into 2 days but he is fine with all of it. He has a joyful personality / he tells me he’s had enough for the day.

That Scottie was one of the most calm down ive seen at a groomer. Used to own a Westie. She wouldnt behave at a groomer unless I was there. Then again, when she was a puppy, one of the groomers cut small portion of her ear.

Yay, so glad to meet a home groomer! Two Scotties is a handful, for sure, but you got this! If you're not planning on stripping, start with a #2 or #4 on their bodies so you can practice blending and be kind on the under-coat! Good luck, let us know how it goes (really, really)! ❤

@@GinasGrooming yes, I'll never be without a Scottie dog for the rest of my life. A Ukrainian man shot my first, and my soul mate dog last October because my mom told him he couldn't hunt on their small property. The breeder I got her from felt like he lost a dog, too. So I got a puppy from him at a price that was affordable for me. They're special dogs.

Awww.. he just like my Scottie. I trim my Scottie myself. I don’t need to hold him or tie him or anything. He just sits and waits like Bentley. My Scottie is calmer and more good natured than most Scotties so I think it’s also because of good temperament.

Aw, I love this! You are so right, most Scotties get a bad rap - but they can be stubborn and snappy (if we are being honest!) But they really do mean well. I think it's more getting to know the quirks of their personality and making sure they feel comfortable, as it seems like you have with your Scottie! Thanks so much for your comment! 💕

You make it look easy! You do a wonderful job. However, as a scottie Mom, I know it's not. I started doing my Maddies cuts myself and it takes me forever. Groomers decided she was to wiggly and difficult for them. But she's worth the extra effort. Love her dearly.💖Wish I could do as well as you. Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 BTW, Bentley is so cute!

Carolyn what I discovered is a groomer make my Scottie anxious. Little patience. A special Scottie trim takes skills and time. Not just a blade and go.

@Glenda Everson That's so true Glenda. It takes patience and some effort to get her groomed. I've found that she behaves much better with me than the groomer. I've gotten better, but it's definitely not perfect. But Maddie is always beautiful to me. 💓😊

What brand of clippers are you using and what “level” are you cutting at?!

Hi Coach! I use two types of clippers and lengths for Bentley: the back pattern is done really short by request of the client with a #9 on Wahl Bravuras (about 2mm left) - but if you really want a more natural hand stripped look, I would use a #2 or #4 guide-comb (about 6-8mm) for the back pattern. For his legs, I use a #1 (12mm) on my Oster Volt but hand-scissor the skirt. Merci et je comprends. De nombreux propriétaires d’animaux disposent d’un petit budget pour le toilettage, nous trouvons donc la bonne longueur qui convient à leur vie. Et souvent, c'est plus court que ce que je choisirais. Merci pour votre commentaire!🙏
