Very willing. Our second Scottie Morag always used to sit up and say grace before eating her meals. It became habitual so we didn't even have to say: Say Grace! She would just sit up on her hind legs & beg. Beautiful intelligent dogs. Thank you for sharing.
Such a good boi ❤❤❤ "hooman" is very good trainer! Hope Reggie is still happy and healthy! Very good camera work! Scotties are so hard to film due to high contrast. Video has amazing quality for 8 years old. Scottie eyes are boootiful!!
This "fine-canine", a stunning example of his Scots heritage, is doing a great job showing his "canine-custodian" just how great she is in being his companion.....all of the wee Scots terriers, related by their highland spirit, have the same skills and abilities, all part of Scotland's gift to the world's canine community......!
I watched your sweet Reggie because I get the Scottie News. I have my 1st Scottie-Duncan and he will be 6 this August. I thought I had loved my dogs before...then this wonderful creature came into my life. I am taken aback by how they get into your heart. Best breed ever, hands down!
they are a terrific breed. we unfortunately had to put ours down last weekend. He got cancer, and we had never known it. we had written some of the warning signs as old age (He was 13). We've been looking for a breeder that has puppies available, but might have to wait a bit before we can share our home with one again.
What a stunning looking scottie dog with a great haircut. We've got a fine looking boy called Angus he's our first dog and been 100% love him mega. Trying to train our dog stylist to cut him as reggie is cut...getting there work in progress? Very intelligent and funny! best breed of dog. Angus bear loves to sit up for a markies treat mmmm
Well done, little guy! I wish my Scottie girl would be able to do all of this (especially heel), but she can get too excited about things going on around her (people, other animals to greet), so even the best treats in the world won't distract her. Then again, she's not even 2 yet, so maybe she will calm down a bit more so she can better focus?
Amazing, I am hopefully getting our Scottie in a couple of weeks. He is 3 months old. Any book or video that you may recommend for training? I live in a rural area so I am not sure where to look for obedience classes. Thank you, I appreciate any tips you can share.
+Erik Martínez Hey Erik, sorry it's taken a while to reply to this! I hope everything is going well with your new puppy! This account has some good training videos: ru-vid.comvideos.
well done! Nice to see another scottie owner training so nicely (rewardbases) with his dogs :-) visit my channel if you like to see my scotties doing agility, flyball and tricks
I want recently new rescue Scottie to like your sweet Reggie. The loo k in his eyes was wonderful and I get this same look from my Niblik when something I say resonates with him. So far, he and I are doing so well overcoming some of his fear based issues How do I find a trainer here in mid-coast Maine that would have this same attitude?? Thank you, Louanne
They certainly have very expensive eyes. As for finding a trainer, unfortunately I couldn't help as I'm in the UK. But the UK Kennel Club has a scheme of approved trainers, that's how we found ours -- not sure is the US has a similar scheme? It's all about force-free and fun training =] good luck!
Hey Maggie, A lot of hard work and patience. Scotties are notoriously stubborn so we used positive reinforcement training, and have found that if you have fun, get excited and enjoy it then your dog will too. We also went to weekly obedience classes which is great for teaching your dog to pay attention while there are some big distractions around. As well as classes we also do around five minutes of training before his meals. There are some excellent books around as well. Remember to always keep it positive with no forceful training. This is Reg in training mode, most of the time he's an awkward little thing, no dog is perfect all the time. Good luck and enjoy it! They are lovely dogs with a fantastic character.
Spencer Hart You are so right about being stubborn! In a good way though that is so special to Scotties. My 11 year old little Scottie Gracie passed in Feb from cancer. Heartbreaking! A sweet funny story about Scottie attitude. We slept with her at night. She only wanted to be cuddled when she wanted. At night she would sleep at the foot of the bed ignoring all our pleas to come hug. Then as soon as she thought we were asleep we would feel her sneak up and curl right up to our backs. This was a nightly routine for 11 years. We smile in remembering her personality with love and appreciation for every day we had with her.
