Hey folks - if you aren't already, consider exploring the half-whole diminished scale, starting on C. (i.e. C, C#, Eb, E, F#, G, A, Bb, C) If there is a 'fusion sound', those intervals are part of it! Also, the presence of the raised 4th degree means you can even get some lydian-sounding riffs in there too, in amongst the minor-pentatonic and the Dorian.
