The last two reviews The Schecter SVSS and the Firefly FFTL honey burst are the more detailed. I think that is just about all I can do in a review. Both reviews are over 1 and 1/2 hours. Bought this guitar when it was on Amazon for $170 and have been really enjoying it! Slapped some heavy gauge strings and tuned it low, and been having a lot of fun
This is a good budget guitar . . . It holds it own on very level. Grote did very well with this model. I'm waiting to see if they come out with a Vologa model of this Model. The Grote GR Standard S was a Volgoa model that they made some changes on and put the Grote name. The 170.00 dollar market has some good tele style guitars. This model The GR standard T Volgoa VTL-2 two humbucker tele Volgoa TN2 two humbucker model Censtar makes a two humbucker and also has the single / lip-stick model All these are under the 200 dollar mark and some go on sale for 160 or so.. I have seen some of these models as cheap as 145.00 The VTL-2 is on sale right now on Amazon for around 170 !!! that is a really good guitar for that price point.. I have a review on that model as well and a review on the TN-2
I have seen many guitars over the years considered mid to premium models that were nowhere near as good as this Grote T. The budget guitar market is just getting better and better!
The finish on this guitar is ALSOME. ! I'm not a Matt Finish guy it shows fingerprints to much... and sometimes the high gloss just is to much. to blingie.. if that's a word LOL This is just right.. Don't show fingerprints but is not too glossy looking. As some would call it it's a FAST GUITAR. built fast. low man hours. But it's ok. This guitar is great right now. You could go through and clean that one fret. and fine tune the nut. But really its better right now then most 1500.00 dollar guitars. 1st fretted notes were just great out of the box. I would say you would have to pay a custom shop for a guitar better than this one was. Setup was spot on! The best I have reviewed .. at any price point ..
I just landed a used grote SG, and I must say they do a good job on their guitars,lots of attention to detail and great necks and fretboards, pickups were not great, but good bones.
@@2dazetakeMost of the time with the under 350.00 dollar price point guitars the pickups are the weak link. In this case, this guitar is good right where it is..... I love the sound it makes... It almost feels like a Hot-Rodded P-90 in the bridge ... when ya turn the tone down. But in the center position is where I think this guitar really shines..... Well ... I dunno .. It does great things in each position.. The neck is sooooo warm with a kick. As of today this telecaster has me won over... Better than the Tele's we have already reviewed . . . and more kickie sounding than my Hot-Rodded Squire vibe.

I just went to their site ... There are many pages that list guitars... It's funny how some of the pages don't list all their guitars. But I have been looking for the Grote Headless Model... witch now is the Volgoa. They list the Grote model with the rosewood finger board. I may have to message them on this. I have been looking for this model for some time... They need to fix the site and have just one page for solid body guitars... I found 4 different pages with some models not listed on that page but were list on another page. Make sure you tell them about the channel and how you found out about the GR Standard T. Update On This Grote Tele. Well, it took sending 2 back to Amazon with damage but the newly purchased white version I ordered showed up today. VERY impressive for the $129 I just paid and happy this on arrived with no damage. This neck and fretboard seems to me to have even a darker roast color which looks great against the white. Went up and down the neck with the fret rocker and a few tiny rocks, but no worse than the last Gibson I bought. Haven't adjusted the relief yet and still have the factory strings on, but I'm getting zero fret buzz and I've already lowered the saddles slightly. Areas that are unreasonably picky but figured I'd mention them just for the info: You can see areas on the contours that could have used a bit more sanding. Also a bit of extra stain or sealer visible between the neck and fretboard... just a visual thing though, I don't see a problem with this. The holes in the body for the strings are staggered in a 3 / 3 sort of configuration. I've read where some manufacturers claim it helps to improve intonation though I don't see how it would? It's fine, it's a eat little look if nothing else. The neck pickup is black, not silver... again it's an interesting look. I got a laugh as I just had to order "real" Fender switch selector tips (2 to a pack) at $7 because that top hat design they use is awful, same thing you mention in your video. This version seems to have a little more Tele twang than the previous damaged ones I sent back to Amazon. Could be my imagination but I don't think so. More likely is just variations from pickup to pickup on these inexpensive guitars... which is very understandable. Overall I'm very, very satisfied with this guitar. It's an impressive piece of work for the price and an easy recommendation! This version with no damage really has exceeded my expectations. I wanted to than you again for your review of this Tele, it really did convince me to buy it!
I'm glad it all worked out..... I'm also glad that they are still making a great guitar at that price point. I never really thought about ..... In a year or two years after my review of a guitar that is still being made... Is it the same... have they made changes.... Is it better??? or have they dropped the ball ... So, I really do want to thank You for posting an UPDATED review based on my review. This info helps others that are thinking about buying this guitar. This channel and the people that post about the product is what makes it great ! ! ! ! Thanks Again ! I have been waiting on Grote to come back out with their Headless Guitar.... @@DominionFretWorks I usually don't write long replies here on YT but I really enjoy the long looks at guitars you do. That's how I look at something I buy, not rushing through it. I may tweak this one a bit, just things like polishing frets on the string change... these feel like 10s or even 9s to me. Also need to go over intonation, just the normal stuff really. I did have to return a Firefly and while they were pretty quick about a refund, they naturally don't refund the original shipping cost which, fine, not everyone is Amazon. The frets on that FF Mad Cat were like a mountain range with too many really high frets making in nearly unplayable. I guess lot of this inexpensive guitar buying really is a bit of a gamble from guitar to guitar. Just glad I took this last chance with the Grote. Thanks again and look forward to your next vids!
I think the Detail Review done on this channel is good.... I really want to make it better.... I may start doing an over all fit and finish to start the video.... Then completely take the instrument apart to review the build. I would need to set it up so I could do all the parts in an order that works.... I have been thinking about how to do it..... There are people .... Like You and Me ... That want more from a review of a guitar. I started this channel to do just that. Thank You for understanding the channel... I can not post review of this detail every week... It is just so much work. But I will do as many as I can with the time I have.

I'm not sure what is difference is......Grote's web site shows the Modern T as the Amazon's the Standard T BUT Amazon shows a HSS -Modern T. Grote's web site doesn't show that model. The HSS Modern T on Amazon is 220.00 with a 30.00 dollar off coupon. So, 190.00 shipped. Looks like the are using the fix bridge from the TN-2 Volgoa (they have used it on other models as well) There are a lot of guitars in the 180.00 to 220.00 shipped price point. If its anything like the TN-2 just with a HSS pickup setup it should be nice. Grote / Volgoa does have a good single coil.... in some models. But they also have a very thin sounding single coil they used in the GR-Standard Strat. They are OK... the output is a little low coming off the Humbucker... More so than most. I have thought about getting that model in for review.... Just haven't done it yet. Let me know if you get it... and let me know what you think of it once you get it.
@@DominionFretWorks Yeah, I'm looking at the one on Amazon. And it comes w a gig bag, another big selling pt at that price. I got a censtar modern tele in orange off Amazon and it's probably the sweetest sounding of my 4 guitars including schecter, Kramer, Ltd. In my opinion, I play mostly 80's metal. The neck is a lil chunkier than I like but it plays like a dream and the action was set perfect out of box.
I know it's VERY subjective, but how does this fretboard feel in comparison to a rosewood or similar fretboard? I've always played rosewood (or dark woods in general) fretboards, but this is an interesting looking Tele. I particularity like the lighter weight this one seems to have. Will have to watch this video at least one more time. The fretboard doesn't look overly glossy, that's a plus in my book. Thanks for the detailed review!
I have reviewed 3 or 4 of the Grote Guitars with this Roasted Maple Neck... I like the neck on the guitar. For me Ebony is my favorite..... but I like this and rosewood as well . . .
i think it sounds pretty good for a beginner player can't beat a real fender , but it sounds pretty good for a dude like me that is a non pro that wants to play around the house..
This is a good guitar..... I still have this guitar and I'm still liking the way it plays.... and the price when its on sale is the BEST PRICED - Playing Tele to date. It is a little cheaper than the Firefly.. They sound nothing a like. This guitar doesn't have the Tele Quack ... As much as some of the others Teles we had on the channel. It's a mix sound Start/Tele.. somewhere in the middle. I have also really come to like the Neck.
Hello great reviews you do! have bought 2 guitars because of your reviews, Your my king reviewer ,Got that Grote tele in white for 129.00 what a great sounding guitar ,only thing i did was put on locking tuners. Got the Firefly Mad Cat and the best playing guitar and i have had 2000.00 Fenders that are no better. Thanks again for your reviews and showing your guitar setups have learned a lot from you keep up your great channel my friend .

Grote story here. I think your video really pushed me over the edge to buy this green / black Tele. When I got it the wood around the neck pocket was banged up pretty badly. A few other small issues like I could see where they did some wood filler on the back of the guitar prior to paint. It was the neck pocket damage that had me ask Amazon for an exchange. The replacement was much worse, the control plate was flopping around as it was missing a screw and it was scratched up in that area. Also a BIG chip in the paint on the body. I kind of think the second was had already been sent back to Amazon previously from another customer. They both went back to Amazon. Sad thing is... I actually liked the guitar design. It almost feels like an interpretation of a Tele, not an exact copy and I liked that. I play clean through only the neck pickup on a Tele and this model had a really nice, clean sound. It didn't have the classic Tele twang, but I was ok with that. I actually ended up writing directly to Grote through their website and they got back quickly and seemed genuinely concerned. I really like the wide fretboard radius. After watching you measure the one you had there, the two I had were the same. I also liked the roasted neck quite a bit. I may try this one more time with this Grote Tele through Amazon. Not looking for perfection from a budget guitar, but can't have a lot of body damage either.
I hope Grote can make it right... I have heard some of the LP models has fallen in the QC area. I never reviewed one of those. I wanted two but never ordered one. Both models I reviewed were the FIRST production run...GR-T and the GR-S I really liked the Tele.... I liked the tone it had. Mine had no damage on the body... Please come back and keep everyone posted on this... This is why the channel is here and why I ask people to post what they receive from amazon. Thank You for posting and commenting !

This thing is great ! I will go back and lesson to the video after a day or two.... For me its hard to hear all the little things right after doing the demo and the video editing. All I know is .... I played it as it wanted to be played... Or made me play it ... LOL
Noticed that. Especially the Bridge with the tone at/beyond 40%. Was expecting it to get muddy but it got warm and just "better". The middle is highly useable as well. Best Regards and Best Wishes!

As far this channel... Yes, its facts on the guitar that was sent to me... I point out what I see. There are too many channels just doing a look at this great guitar..... and play for 5 mins. I have found things in Guitars that looked great... But were hiding stuff. You can support a channel so it can do honest good reviews... It's up to you to make the call on the guitar and whether or not you will buy it. Some guitars I do but a link up ... To the guitar and get just a little from Amazon... I even do this on Guitars that I think miss the mark. Again, it's up to you the buyer.. But clicking on the link and buying does help the channel. Nice review, nice guitar but wow why that high strunged pitched tuning at the end? You're in Status Quo's "Down Down" territory here, but they use open G tuning with capo on 4th fret. Strings must have felt pretty stiff.
Sometimes you just have to play around with tunings.... I never did this until about 3 years ago. There are so many things I thought people were doing.. and come to find out they tuned their guitar in some weird tuning. Thanks for joining the group and chatting... Oh my . . . LOL a Jackson / Fender off spring.... ya ... it was shocking when I was checking the radius..... I would have never thought a 17-inch radius would be used on this guitar. Your guitar is next my friend . . . its on the bench now.... OHHHH did you keep the switch cap ??? LOL ... Man .. it looks so weird. I'm going to change it. Something like a blade type would be cool.
@@smooothybuns I never paid attention to it.... I just reviewed two other Tele's.... But the switch didn't poke out like that... and have that big flat disc thingie... on it....LOL
The strap button is closer to the 16th fret. The strat types on the wall have the button close to the 12th. With the lightweight body the headstock may dive pretty hard when only supported with a strap. A slippery nylon strap will demonstrate the balance standing.
All my straps are leather ... with the fuzzie side down to your shoulder. Plus, I use a wider strap ... that goes back to when I played a Gibson Explorer.... That guitar was HEAVEY after a 50 min set.... It would cut into my shoulder, so I started using wider straps.. Never really used anything other than that. I did test the guitar with my straps and had no problems with balance. This is a lite guitar compared to some. I also did not use my Wireless Rig on the lower back of the guitar and strap... That can also help with balancing sometimes. I plugged a standard cable into the jack and removed the wireless system from the strap. @@guyguitar9388
I just got one in ... A Grote LP 199.00 price point.. It will not be reviewed.. 1) It came DOA... NO output 2) The frets going down the neck were cut short in many places.... a did not align at all. The guitar was sent back to Amazon ......
Maybe.....Every body can have a bad one slip through... But the fret misalignment was bad.... So even if it wasn't DOA... The fret work was still way off. And it was shipped with that problem... They were VERY BAD ON THE ALIGNMENT ... they waved going down the fret board... I really wanted to review one... Been eyeing them for some time. I should reorder and if another comes that is bad... I should just do a review as is..... I have had Grote on the channel and have had good luck them up until this one.@odsBillyCraftBeerReviews
@@DominionFretWorks yes the Telecaster I saw the review... I would definitely contact them tell them the problems with the guitar... At $180 you can get a Chinese Gibson Les Paul knockoff that has real flame maple top. Canadian 🍁 maple neck Mahogany body. Just modification platform typically the electronics needs up grade full size pots pickups new strings. Possibly new Switch new knobs. But A Real Gibson Les Paul like that would be close to $3,000 so a good investment IMO... Typically the Frets are pretty good.. Cheers 🥃🥃 🍻 🎸🎶🎶

great review brother! how is the routing around the neck pup in the body? i was hoping youd remove the scratchplate so we could see but it didnt happen lol... possibly include that in the future? ive come across a few monoprice guitars...os30 and the older T style that you have to remove the neck because of the lip with the 22nd fret blocking the removal process...plus the smaller routing as well... its a bigger problem on the os30 because you have your switch and pots in the scratcplate....should anything break under there oooo big bear to get to it.....
Yes ...the newer reviews go into more detail....As people asked for things they were added....Check out some of my latest reviews... passed 6 months or so... Very detailed. This guitar for its price point is hard to beat... Most of the time you can get them for 139.00 on sale on Amazon... Firefly also has a good telecaster for just a little more money...

I try not to be like the others "review channels" I really try to review the guitar and look at how it's made and check how it is setup from the factory. I would say most channels are DEMO channels... Also do Tech Tip Video's / Setup Videos / Mods.... Once we have a few more subscribers we are going to start doing a weekly hangout and chat.

Maybe they were testing to see if the Model would sale or not.... The pickups are keepers. They just have a sound... it's got a feel that matches the sound. I hope if they do bring this guitar back, they don't change a thing. They NAILED it on this one ! This is a good guitar

Wanted to love this guitar but it has some problems. The truss rod would not allow me to get the proper relief. After getting close tightening the truss for lower relief the wheel would not budge any further. I'm stuck there with .012 relief at the 8th fret. Then there's the low fret on the b string at the 12th fret causing string buzz and weak tone. How do you fix that?
if the 12th fret is low....Your buzz must be from the 13th fret... a low fret is the hardest to fix... All the other frets need to come down to that one..... A full fret level... If it is a high fret, you can just take down the High fret to match the others... I have a few videos on leveling frets... and setup work.... You may find them helpful.
Plus all the other repair videos that are up coming. I really don't think it would be coming anytime soon... But that could change if enough people ask about this model.... That is why we are so far behind on reviews now.... I keep adding to the list LOL . . . .
