Ground hunting on public land. Sometimes you don't need to get 20 feet up in a tree to get close to the deer. In this video, I show you how I set up on the ground and have deer come within bow range.
I love the quick prayer you made dedicating the hunt to God’s glory, and for the benefit of his people. This is great, because these ARE God’s creatures that we are hunting! And they are meant for food and sustenance. And because of that...That special kind of respect and reverence SHOULD be given to God and the game we hunt. PRAISE BE TO GOD! 🙏🏻🦌
As someone who doesn't do treestands or ground blinds, I would love to see more still hunting tips and videos. I think it's kind of become a lost art in a lot of ways and I would really love to see your advice on how to go about it.
Great action Sean. I've been doing allot of ground hunting after work. I typically spook them out but don't see them come back. I have to work on the noise I make.
Funny you published this video today. I plan on doing a ground sit today. Possibly try my hand at stalking. Wet ground with higher winds should be easier to move around the timber unnoticed. Cheers.
Just started the video. Im going 3 miles deep this afternoon in a spot that i have been getting a lot of does on camera. Really needing to get some meat bc we cant shoot does during rifle season. Im going in ultralight with my ghillie suit bc this spot doesnt have any large trees but also you can see/shoot more from the ground. Big storm just rolled through. So my entry should be quiet. Super pumped. Thanks for the vid ill see if i can use any tips for the hunt tonight
I was able to creep up on a doe last year during a super windy day. Trees crashing and making ridiculous racket. I went place to place hoping to bump something or spot from a far. And I did. I waited till her head was down digging the snow for food and moved up to the next tree, and the next, totally freezing when her head come up... until I was literally 20 yds away. And took her home w me. Idk where or how all that confidence come from but I simply decided I was doing it, and got it done. It was amazing. I wish someone was there to witness it. But at same time I don’t even care. It was just awesome tho
@@mpooler3047 I made myself a small folding wooden stool to pack in with me. I set it against the base of a spruce/fir tree with good cover and it's pretty comfortable and effective
This is my first year bow hunting out here in western Pennsylvania, I don’t have a stand so I am also on the ground. Do you have any tips for me? I’m trying to figure out how much I really should be moving around, or if I should find a good spot to kneel and wait
You’ve got to keep the wind in your favor . Do a little of both. Sit still when conditions are right, tiptoe around when they are not or when it’s rainy or windy
Sean, another cool video! At the end when you're talking at home for some reason I only get the audio in my left earbud when I had stereo throughout the rest. Might be something weird on my end but I wanted to point it out.
How is that loan wolf climber? Is comfortable? I'm 280 pounds 6'3" tall and pretty athletic minus a six pack of abs lol but I'm heavy and in shape and I love Mobil hunting and hate packing heavy I usually bring a flash light about 25' of rope for the drag and whatever else I might need. A knife or two and my weapon. And some times a water. I mostly hunt off ground but would love a climber. I also hunt public so no trimming branches. Something about hunting line our ancestors with three fingers in the string and a nice recurve or my old wooden darton compound. I like to stalk and get as close as I can.
I like getting a nice buck if I can but it’s not my primary focus. If I can get something decent, great, but I try to push myself to do better if I can. I harvest a lot of meat to feed my family and donate to the less fortunate. I’d say I’m kind of in the middle I guess
It looked like something a hunter left in the woods many years ago. I’d imagine it was a gun hunter. I’ve seen the Amish do this at a lot of public land spots I’ve hunted so I assumed it might be from one of them. This is a good area so I could see why they had it there. It looks too rotted out to have been used in the past 7 or 8 years so there’s no telling who left it there.
Spooking deer on your way in means you're finding deer. Every hunt is a scouting trip. And...the people who have known you the longest may think something is wrong with you once you have seen the light. Fear not, for your deeds may show them faith.
Yes I’m catholic and I do it all the time. What do you expect in this video though? I’m holding a video camera in one hand and a bow in the other. LOL.
@@brentdavis3792 Well it is a good thing you are not God, and it is a shame you miss what is most important to Him. What is important to Him is a relationship with Him, which I have, and I am very happy that He is pleased with the fact that I pray in front of millions of people and inspire them to think about God whereas they didn't before, and also that I share the Word of God with them and inspire them to read God's Word whereas many of them were not before. Your, sir, may need to work on your approach to evangelization because it doesn't come across as inspiring people to grow closer to God but to be afraid of whether or not they perform religious practices the way you would personally expect, you who are not God but a fallen human being like the rest of us.
