Since the Grounded, Hot and Hazy Update 0.11 was released, the Sandbox is the hardest area of the backyard. Antlions and the sun-burning effect will challenge your survival skills. @@hotshotwpg We can try it again next Friday, if you would like. It would be hard to do a video tutorial on that because it works in different ways for everyone. Xbox app, Xbox Game Bar, Xbox Console Companion... Microsoft did a real mess on their social gaming apps. There are occasions I open the 3 apps and send multiple invites until one of them works. But the first step in all of them is to add your friend to your friend's list. My Xbox tag is Partisan Spy#477.

As always a very helpful video, thanks... I did something similar except as soon as I got enough AntLion Pincers I made some AntLion Armour so the Sizzle was no longer a problem and took the slow approach by using a bow as I hadn't unlocked the mace yet.

You can tank them with a Spider Fand Dagger and Black Ant shield, only one though, two is a problem but resort back to plan A if you get jumped.

If you’re coming to this now, clover ramps also need sap so bring sap with you or find a different way up to the sandcastle tower. You can use half grass floors to build a ramp over to it on the inside and then build the ramps straight up? Should use less ramps. But getting the stems down there would be hard.

An alternate way to get *onto* the sandcastle is to go to the front of it, where the bridge would be. Then you can make a tight jump from the leftmost part, where your side and the other is closest. **You will need two sources of "The Quickens" buff to do this. It is easiest with the Natural Explorer mutation and Aphid Slippers.**

I just finished the pond and unlocked the picnic table. Went to the the sandbox with the fresh mutation on with ladybug armor and bone dagger and did lots of damage on antlion

Ahhh, the hammer technique! (Attack, block to reset attack, repeat) Edit: use the spider fang dagger (it counts for under water axe, and normal axe, it’s also a lot faster and I think less stam cost).

Interesting trick, if you do the sandbox with a friend, you two can shade each other, and neither one of you will sizzle, especially if you have Antlion Armor or fresh defense.

Great vid, smart move on using Mom Genes(I agree with LBC's comment, also the black ant sword lvl 5 kills them quicker if you don't have the salt star weapon unlocked

Thanks for the tips. I got the salt, key, lion and black ant Armour and sword. But I can't beat the stupid assistant manager. Lasers suck! I get him 3/4 down and then all hell breaks loose and I'm dead even though I'm slamming smoothies and band aids.

Ryan, I can try to help you while streaming on Friday or by sharing some tips with you right now. 😁 1- Kill first the small robots. 2- Every time the laser tower is activated hide behind one of the pillars, don't hurry, it will take longer but it will be safe. 3- When both, laser tower and tesla pillars, are on, crounch close to the laser tower and walk behind the lower laser. Don't worry about nothing else. 4- If you still have Granola bars, that can help. Hi I completed sandbox before I saw this guide but I actually was wandering once sandbox is completed is there anything left ingame to do? The only quests burgl gives me now is insect killing one's so I'm suspecting I'm finished til next update what do u think iv recently come back havmt played since launch so unfamiliar with all new stuff

Hey Spy do you have one on getting to the upper parts? I'm getting my ass whooped trying to get coals because the I try to attract the lady bird over to a rolly polly and it kills them too quick. Does a tear 2 insect hammer work on the coats? I'd check it now but I'm not at home.

You need to aggro and tank the Roly poly. Raise your shield when they are facing you (no hitting) and when it turns, immediately combo them. Use the level 5 pinch whacker.

Thanks for the appreciation Rous! ❤ My hammer has the same speed as yours, it looks faster because right after the hit I "cancel the animation" by pressing the block button. If you look (16:29) to the lower right corner of the screen you will see the block bar showing every new hit.

So I just got back on the game a couple weeks ago. Last time I played was probably at release. I’ve been enjoying the game a lot but I’m starting to notice it become more grind intensive as I progress. The main annoyance is the weapon upgrade nerfs compared to when tutorials like this were made. It makes going to the sandbox much more of a pain because you can’t just wipe the antlions in the same way. I’ll still end up doing it, but I know it will be way more of a pain

Hi Costanza, totally agree that the upgrade system for weapons/tools and armor pieces added a step to the game progression. But I think they are trying to balance things out by offering other things like for example, the PEEP.R that provides key information about insects.

Does anyone know what the thud is? Like while running in the sandbox there is this thud sound. I'm playing on PC (no controller) and when I search this question I always get controller vibration issues.

Hi Leigh, I think you are talking about the sound big Antlions make when they throw dead black ant workers from the bottom of the holes. If you kill them all the sound will stop. 😊

@@ThePartisanSpy There is a yellow toy shovel. It's in the middle. Maybe my game was bugged but it would be weird, every time I get close to it a Molar icon appears nearby (2 of 3 scab spaces are colored)

3 in-game days is a safe margin for shards and buried treasures. Antlions respawn between 1 to 2 in-game days. Remember that there are also some goodies on the Trash Heap and in the new canyons area. I would also recommend you use the Resource Surveyor before going back to the sandbox, this way you will be sure things have respawned. 👍

Do you have Mom Genes Mutation equipped? That could be one explanation, every hit is a possibility to they spawn and help you.

Mike, developers already said that the "oven progression" needs to be reviewed. It is a bit too hard to get it because of where the materials are atm. For now, kill the Antlions as I advise in the video and you don't need to go for the big ones.

Can you get the key to the chest to get the morning star without defeating the assistant manager?

Yes and at any time of the day. This key is not related to the Assistant Mananger. The Assistant Manager drops the Assistant Manager Keycard, used to open Lab doors, including the Lab Room in the Sandbox.

After the new update (Into The Wood) and the change to how combo works, Salt Morning Star became "the only option". 2-handed weapons are too slow and performing 3-hit combos is a real challenge.

A little stuck. I don’t have the charcoal I need for the oven. No oven means no salt globs for the morning star.

Hi Matthew, there were some changes regarding the charcoal position so it is normal to get confused about it. I'm a puss and did it that way, I still died many times from the random ant toss. Those hit hard! I found most hills have one steep side and you can just duck while it throws the ant then pop up and shoot.. I can't beat the assistant manager though, that guy sucks

1 thing tho you cant open the lab in the center until you get the assistant keycard which you go in the hole on the left and complete the sandbox lab and defeat the boss and then you open the lab in the center using the assistant manager keycard and get the stuff and open the chest on the river.

Hi Frank, I play in medium difficulty. It is also important to notice that on the 0.12 and 0.13 updates balance changes were done to weapons and creatures so this number may have changed since then.

Get the Salt Morning Star recipe, the chip, and kill enough antlions just to do the armor set. Leave the rest for later when you have a better weapon and armor set.
