The forecast was strong wind so we headed out to our favourite beach to get some groundhandling in. Turned out with the sun high there was a thermal bubble on the beach and the meteo wind was just blowing above it.
That meant the windspeed was low and there was quite a bit of turbulence, making it an ideally tricky day to try more advanced groundhandling and it requires fast and decisive control.
Great fun and as the sun eased off managed to fly the wall and the meteo wind aloft was actually quite strong. Glad the speedbar was connected.

Why do you call it the pig?
@AndreBandarra1
@AndreBandarra1 5 лет назад
because it groundhandles like a pig, it's very lazy.

hey guys question for turning and how to pull the breakline, how is it best to pull the break line for example i want to make a left turn should i just pull straight downwards(use the hole side of the break) or should i pull the breakline more in the oposite side(to more use the break on the tip of the wing) is there a difference to lose less alt or tips for soring to be most efficient in the turns

Sometimes the light days teach you more.... we always focus on high wind days but this kinda of work with the wing helps build touch on the edge of de power. Nice to see you both strapped in!! Stoked to see you both so happy!!!

Always good to get a float around in light winds.

Glad you posted this Bandarra! Here's what happened to me recently in Florida. Looking for consistent winds, I was doing a lot of beach kiting practice. No problems. Moving inland later to my normal base, I was again kiting but noticed my canopy's left side dropping immediately after up lift, always the left side (facing toward it). Can you or Gemma guess why before I tell you? I was rearranging the rear portion of the canopy & felt a large lump of something in my palm. Sand! Sand was in all pockets at the trailng edge but most of it on the left side causing the drop. I estimated about 2 pounds of sand total. Have you ever had this happen to you or Gemma? If I had taken off? Thanks! Great informative videos!

Yeah, happens all the time if you're not careful or just unlucky with how your wing "lands". The wing with some sand inside might groundhandle in a "funny" way yeah, be very sluggish or one-sided. I've found that once it's flying is ok though as it spreads out throughout the wing instead of concentrating at the trailing edge but if it's enough sand might be a bigger problem

@@AndreBandarra1 .....Thanks for the prompt response Andre! I was concerned if I had taken off would that amount of sand cause an uncontrolled right turn. You answered that & thanks again! Will be more careful!

Bandarra, do a video on how to takeoff forward in a crosswind that pops up right as you're ready to takeoff. I experience that a lot in inland Florida thermal conditions.

I live on the high plains of TX. I would kill for your "turbulance" haha. Does that sand eat the wing up pretty fast being on it all the time?
@AndreBandarra1
@AndreBandarra1 5 лет назад
Yeah that's for sure a different class of turbulence! Ahah no the sand really isn't as bad as people say

@@billcallahan9303 yea I know how to handle sand, just kite upside down and shake :). My question was the wear and tear aspect.

@@vmlinuxz ....That goes for pepper too I assume David? I can barely kite right side up. All kinds of surprises out there!

I live in north Florida south of Tallahassee David. All we have in summer is thermals beginning about 9 a.m. wind will change direction right after you're rigged up & ready to go. I wish Bandarra would do a video on how to takeoff forward in a cross wind.
