Yes but he went into, or back to, a Ned Ryerson loop, I call: "Groundhog Day: Ryerson's Revenge". It's where Ned Ryerson marries Phil's sister Mary Pat. And Phil keeps trying to stop the wedding from happening. I thought of this idea for a sequel/prequil before the end of 1999.
I never thought of it like that, but you're right! Phil tried and failed repeatedly to get with Rita over and over again. But, as soon as he got insurance, it's the next day. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣
Fun fact- The intimate hug scene was completely improvised by Bill Murray. Ned's actor had no idea what was going on, he just tried his best to stay in character
@nautical man I think the main reason Phil got out of the time loop was because, Rita finally fell in love with him and they slept in the same bed together and when Phil woke up in the morning, Rita was still in the bed with him where Groundhog Day didn't repeat itself making it finally the next day.
It's funny you should mention that because the actor who played Ned Ryerson played the amnesiac in Christopher Nolan's "Memento" who kept giving his wife insulin.
This could also explain why Phil leaves the b&b at different times yet always runs into Ned in the same place no matter what. Ned is self-aware and is simply waiting for Phil to buy insurancd
"I don't know where you're headed, but can you call in sick?" Now that's a useful tactic for getting rid of an annoying jerk, but it could backfire on you if he says "Sure I can".
@@roninikari But what if that situation happened and Ned replied with “Sure I can” and that happened to be the perfect timeline and Phil was stuck with that permanently? lol
@@thatguyintherain3168 I'm pretty sure that Phil would be so happy to be out of the time loop that he'd be willing to put up with ANY set of circumstances. Remember, this is a guy who has tried several means of killing himself in the hopes of escaping the loops. If he was okay with ending it there, he can deal with an awkward one-night-stand in his past as a worst-case scenario.
I’ve got to know some of these sales since I happened to pass a few of assessments in programming schools. They’ve been following me up for years since then
I guess he learned to avoid him after first week or so . All he had to do was to leave inn few minutes earlier or later . Much harder was to avoid his work as reporter and cameramen he didnt like . He wanted to see and talk to Rita ,so cameraman and work was like package deal .
Yo I swear I was walking around in nyc once and I tripped off the side of a curb and this homeless guy recited this line word for word... it was crazy cause I got the reference.
Ned *pulls off his hat* RYERSON! LOL does he think showing his bald head is going to make Phil recognize him? Unless of course he was already bald in high school
Just brilliant film with intriguing story line and great acting. They mixed Comedy, Drama, Romance and Fantasy perfectly. Bill Murray shines here. Andie MacDowell was impressive too. The whole cast was great. I miss the 90's so much! They don't make films like this anymore
Notice when Ned gets hit he doesn't just fall backwards but spins around and we get a glance at his stunned expression. Nice touch by veteran character actor Stephen Tobolowsky.
Poor Ned, he was a hard working insurance guy, in those days without internet insurance people used to run their mouth faster than bullet train and wanted to sell insurance to every individual they met.
With Phil and Rita, meeting Ned at the restaurant, and they all have a laugh about it being the best day... Ned asks, "So, where are we going?", with Rita replying with a laugh, "Let's not spoil it!"
"WEH HEH HEELL Watch out for that first step; it's a DOOOOZZZY!" HAHAHA It sounded like Ned actually really enjoyed watching poor Phil step in that curbside pothole and tghe fact he seems to puts tears in my eyes I'm laughing so hard lol Like first of all, why would you acknowledge it, and second of all, why would you enjoy it? (Because he didn't buy insurance from you?? petty lol)
I think the best part of this is that he is probably the most remembered and quoted person in this movie and was only on camera for less than 5 minutes
"Bing again! You are sharp as a tack today!" I would've immediately got suspicious at that. I would've been like "What do you mean by that?! You're doing this aren't you?!"
Fun fact. When Dan Akroyd was inside the statue of liberty on groundhog day, he found Doc Brown in 1885 with Bob Ross. Legend has it that They were going "Back to the future" making happy accidents. Turns out that they both used Ponskatony phill was Odama Binladins caretaker for the special Olympics.
Well, it's Groundhog day, today...AGAIN... So, I figured I'd get my fill of watching all the clips of Ned Ryerson, since it's Feb 2, Groundhog Day, AGAIN!:) Thanks for posting this!
