Teams that travel to Hawaii get to schedule an extra home game to offset their overall travel costs for the season. Extra game equals extra revenue. That extra game is often times called the “Hawaii Game” even though it’s not against Hawaii. I’m guessing New Mexico State’s Week 0 loss to UMass was that game, or perhaps it was against an FCS school. Hawaii itself has also played 13 games this season. New Mexico State is better than a lot of people think; I honestly wasn’t surprised that they beat Auburn. However, two of their losses were to UMass and Hawaii, and yet they still managed to beat 10 other teams. That’s why the game is great.

TEXAS vs SMU Cotton Bowl sounds pretty sweet

ECU has interviewed both former Arkansas/SMU head coach Chad Morris and Ole Miss’s Co-offensive coordinator/TE coach John David Baker for the offensive coordinator position. Morris seems to be the popular pick with the fans but Baker impressed in his interview.

If Liberty goes undefeated, meaning they win the CUSA championship with their first perfect record, may not be the strongest schedule but no FCS schools on it; they will leap Tulane. If both Liberty and Tulane lose, I believe the winner of the MAC will get the nod most likely. There is also a chance that Tulane wins and Liberty wins that the CFP-4/NY6 committee does what BCS did a few times, Bowl Alliance did many times, and Bowl Coalition Association did too many times and have them play each other instead of each getting a shot at a Autonomy College/Team. While Toledo and Miami-Ohio are not ranked in top 25 in CFP-4/NY-6 polls; I have strong feelings that both of those MAC teams are the next best option should Tulane and Liberty both lose this week. G5 schools have way less control over their schedules than P5; soon to be P4 unless something goofy happens; which means in two years: there will either be no more PAC at all or no more MWC at all. It will be one or the other, not both. But that is all topic discussion for a later date and time. Point is that Liberty tried to improve their non conference schedule but no takers. So they did the next best thing and had no FCS on schedule in case they continue with having stellar results and season like before as an independent. Because other top G5/6 whatever they become schools will run in the same problems that Liberty had this season by no fault of their own and have not just P4 dodge them but top to upper middle G5/6 schools not agree to schedule them for that year because know they most likely will lose to them and hurt their chances and help the chances of the school trying to improve their non conference games. So in review: I think and can see Liberty win and Tulane win; it will result in both playing each other in a NY6 game possibly. If both teams lose, the bid will go to MAC champion. Troy of the SBC is not totally irrelevant, but the loss to JMU and not being able to avenge that loss thanks to stupid Decisions by NCAA hurts their chances of getting a NY6 bid. If Tulane wins and other teams lose, then obviously the NY6 bid goes to Tulane.

If both SMU and Liberty win, you think the CFP will consider Preston Stone’s injury in evaluating who is the better team for the G5 spot?

Liberty is the only G5 school i would not cheer for in any game. Not even as an underdog in a NY6 matchup.
