I’m going to try the Troxell on my next tile job, thanks for the info.

I found it more convenient to use bondo scraper on large format tile on walls as acrylic based grout does not stick well to wall, hence a lot of it falling down and create mess and frustration. With bondo scrapper I work only on grout lines not spreading it over large surface of tile where it has nothing to do on and causes an extra effort to wipe haze after. It could be slower method for professional but it is more efficient for DYIer. Floats are designed for speed and cementeous grout as it sticks well and spreads even, beside that professional tilers develop quite a skill to manipulate it snappy. Weekend warrior trying this on their own suffer from frustration with traditional float, especially with synthetic grout on walls. :)

The platinum is heavy but you get used to it and it’s not 40 bucks in Tulsa Oklahoma, I get mine at interceramic for just over 30...been using them for years, they last a long time and get the grout off the tile better on their last day than most floats on their first day

I going to check out that Troxell. The best I used so far and I had many is the Raimondi smart float it's light and the replaceable rubber is the best part.

Imo, as a professional tiler, I don't think you can beat a Marshalltown grout float, similar in looks to the cheap one here. About 15 quid over here in London.

Troxell is the best i do lots of comercial and use ut for all epoxy grout and regular grout give it a 10 out of 10

use a PU squeegee blade ( THE LAST TYPE DEMONSTRATED) available with a screen printing material supplier. 80 shores. will be very economical.

You gotta check out the Russo smart float system, killer grout float that has a removable pad and a great hard red pad for really any epoxy or laticrete permacolor.

I got one with foam on the bottom does that make a difference

Great job at explaining the design and what to consider. I'd like to make a request that might fit in to your Tool Tuesday series or possibly start another series. Could you explain and possibly demonstrate how to square a tile saw table to the blade? I have tried but have not been able to get it right. I'm using the 10 inch Diamondback with laser and light. Saw has slowly gone out of square during a bathroom remodel. Guess the easiest way to take care of the problem would be to exchange it for a new one but that's one hour trip each way. Any help or referral to information on how to do it would be appreciated. Thanks!

You figure float spends 50/50 on and off floor when working it....however that weight may play better at applying grout vs lighter competition...plus that rubber may last longer. Actual use comparison is need in another video...this is base purely off visual perception vs price

I prefer the style of the low and the mid-range. It grip better.

Fuck me $40 i use the cheap ones always have fuck all wrong with them. I have never seen the other 2 kinds over here.
