A really informative video, clearly explained the rationale and circumstances for using the chosen products on sandstone paving which makes perfect sense.
@@tidybrickslandscapinglmao. YOURE doing it wrong you chump, you’re an amateur and giving out bad advise. Tell you what, stick to what you know, which sure as shit isn’t this!!! 😂😂😂😂
Hey mate, hope you’re good. Steintec do a bound permeable resin and polymer free jointing mortar. More granular finish but suitable for 10-20mm joints Good gear
I’m tackling my first porcelain patio what’s the best material for grouting. Was thinking flow point. I’m on my own and don’t mind how long it takes. Love this channel by the way cheers👍
Always traditionally point sandstone and concrete slabs but if customer asks for joint it or eazyjoint im happy to do but so far haven't actually done anything different on sandstone just traditional point . Porcelain I either grout or easyjoint (use other brands too). I recently just grouted Limestone and that looks amazing, just about to put a video up of that.
Traditional jointing is always the best especially after years of trying all these new grouts out sod that get the mortar back In there. 👍🏴 I’ll keep a eye out for that video of yours
@tidybrickslandscaping completely agree, , I love the look of a decent traditional mix with sandstone, but I do see why people prefer using the brush in as it's just so much easier, especially with the weather we have 🤣, anyway hope you're all good mate, glad to see you back on the tools and videos 🔨👷♂️🎥
@@jaspermillerlandscaping6174 totally agree regular mix for sandstone even can do it when your laying em just let it squirt up the joints 👍👍🏴 Got another countertop coming up doing it a different way different products should be a eye opener
Great video - this is very similar to my patio. How clean do the joints need to be before repointing? Did you clean out the little stones and debris shown on the close up at 2:48 or just apply the joint it straight on top?
Will this product wash out when pressure washing? I'm looking for something to use between my patio slabs which are on sand. I was thinking kiln dried sand unless there's a better option.
Just kiln sand is not good it’s bound to wash out with a pressure washer. Joint it is ok as long as it’s forced in but never as hard as cement 👍🏴
Hello! Great video🎉 do you know if it possible to use this application method with other brands of grout? For example can i do this with the sika fast fix grout? (Cant get ahold of the joint-it simple product from toolstation or local stores). Many thanks
Cheers for that my grandfather was 7th generation stone mason. We cleaned a patio the other day which had been re grouted to a very poor standard . I will send the link of this vid to the homeowner.
I think you did the right thing here you just need to make sure the sub base is nice and permeable too, sometimes a sub base of 20 to dust compressed well barely drains at all then the water just pool below
Wanted to ask you is that just regular cement u put under pavers we don’t normally do stuff like this in Barbados They just do a hard slab then normal thin outdoor tiles
@@Wayne-pb5zx sealing it first helps but only if it’s been down a while and get yourself a grout bag from Amazon and pipe it in like cream on a cake but use kiln sand very fine no blockages 👍🏴
@@Liverpool1nemore so for brickwork jointing those guns as the gun would be level rather than downwards hence the piping grout bag is for downwards filling 👍🏴
I've just done mine today with a 5:1:1 Mix (5 Sand : 1 OPC : 1 Hydrated Lime). A builder mate advised to seal the slabs BEFORE pointing which I am glad I did to help stop staining from the pointing mix. Once the pointing has gone off - might seal the whole thing again including the dried grout. Thompsons one coat (Screwfix). Tidy.
@@MrM669 lot of people either throw on dry brush it in then bit of water on top stuff doesn't cure properly and people say is bad product etc, this method ensure proper cureage
@@tidybrickslandscaping always puzzles me when they say these polymeric sand shit things have to be laid on a permeable bed but we use a 6-1 mix thats nothing short of concrete when it goes off? what constitutes a permeable bed then? had nothing but problems with them. the last time we used one i drilled a series of 8mm holes down the joints into the sub grade. this seemed to help with drainage.
@@seanmcgrath9167 yeh the old drilling into the base what a pain in the ass that is feck all that mind you I did do it once and still a fecking pain it’s so much easier laying bricks again bish bosh done 👍👍🏴
Got my sandstone done about 5 years ago and the joint it failed within a year, the guy who done it filled the joints with sand and and filled the last 5mm with the joint it compound 🤬
@@williammuir8901 yeh not a problem that’s a issue for structural stuff as for the grout yeh no issues take your time follow what I did and it’s all gravy baby 👍🏴
