I just found you! Incredibly helpful video! I am starting super late and in the back of my suburban yard just for family fun… but I do love to garden! I’ll be happy with 100 pounds! It’s awesome listening to you!!

Lol I use the same scissors for the same reason in our gardening. Thanks for the advice. First year with a real giant pumpkin. I’m in Miami Manitoba. I had one seed out of 8 that survived to outside planting. Only three made it through germination. I should have scarified more. Two plants I lost to a cold snap in our small greenhouse. The the third was a late comer and only had one leaf come out and was negligent and forgotten about. I then nursed “Nemo” to become a monster treated like a tomato plant planter and all just bigger pots more transplants. I hope to grow something big this. Right as of July 25 grapefruit size. With three tennis ball sized pumpkins. The ideal one is in a good location for access. I found a stressed plant will Come back stronger. I appreciate the vids helps me know how to handle our monsters here. My daughter named the pumpkin plant nebo after our hill here. Thanks again.

Just started this year. I built 3 standing garden boxes and put pumpkins in 2 of them. They started growing great tons of flowers but none with pumpkins on them. Flowers are dying off and the leaves are also. They was in the shade so i moved them into the sun.still no improvements.

Awesome content again Chad! I had to cut the secondary at the punpkin to make more room for it and the main... but I see you somehow snaked-it up and around and out the other side? Do you ever recommend cutting that secondary off? Thanks!! (BTW, I am at 23DAP on the 2021 Chad New seed... so far so good!!)

Howie I did flip around the vine on the 1676, this is the first time I have done this. Sometimes I try to spin them around the pumpkin and sometimes I cut them off. The more vines the better but in the end I dont think that it's THAT big of a deal if you take it off.

how big is your pumpkin? Probably at about day 30 now.

@@ColoradoGiants yes! I am struggling with bugs and disease, but your seed has been my best plant (out of 6 that I started with) any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Here's my update video from today: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QTKVuppNMow.html

I can't see the stem of my pumpkin. Should I turn it? Leave it? How do I check it?

Man i had a late start and live in a higher elevation, but my pumpkin is going strong. Hope it hits a couple hundred pounds before season ends. And wow 30lbs per day is just fast in my mind. Is covering the pumpkin necessary and why?
@ColoradoGiants
@ColoradoGiants 2 года назад
Hey Jeff -you can do it! 30lb is about avg in our world. Once you hit 50-70lb day then you have something special going! I cover them with a sheet to keep the sun off of the pumpkin so the skin stays baby soft.

With your cut off the main method, do you let the plant grow behind the pumpkin all season or do you dead head it as the season goes? I have one at day 10 I am trying to decide which method is better. Thanks.

I end the growth just because I run out of room. I would not let your plant get larger than 1200 SqFt.
@jakegingrich7214
@jakegingrich7214 4 месяца назад
I know it a while since your response, but if you had the room, why would 1200sqft be the limit? @@ColoradoGiants

Do you end up going back and cutting the leafstalks all the way down to the vine? If I cut them part way up like you did in the video, mine fill up with water and rot. I know you are in a greenhouse and use drip irrigation, but thought maybe your misters would fill them with water.
@ColoradoGiants
@ColoradoGiants 2 года назад
That is a good point, I probably should cut them off as close as possible and not leave a little cup. But I dont.

If you were to grow two pumpkins per plant would they even grow to half the size of one of these individually grown pumpkins?
@ColoradoGiants
@ColoradoGiants Год назад
You would grow two BIG ones, but not 1 monster.

Question: My pumpkin fruited a female bud and after a week or so of growth, it became mushy and very soft skinned, like touching a water balloon. It tore, so I had to cut it off. Why might this happen? Solutions? I am a backyard gardener, growing Cherokee Tan pumpkins in Oregon.
@ColoradoGiants
@ColoradoGiants Год назад
Sometimes they just dont take. For whatever reason they can just abort some time. That is why most growers always have a backup or two.

Do you need a secondary vain attached to your main pumping vain ?
@ColoradoGiants
@ColoradoGiants 2 года назад
Yes, secondary vines are very important!
